So can a get more vapor from the hornet compared to a LR 306 with one AW IMR? And can you use ribbon wire or is the hornet to small?

Rebar, It will be hard for me to answer this because I never used attys yet. Still waiting on my hornet bro. I'll post as much info as possible once I get it and start using it though. There are others here that can probably answer your questions.

Yeah, I went to 310 to order a black Aluminum and all they had were top feeders. So I ordered a torched SS from Indyvaper. I have torched ERA but I would like it and coming Hornet darker. Torching can be done over and over to get desired look. The longer you torch the darker the color. Some of the SS A7s look black. They have been torched to get that look.

I called 310 and Matt said it could be "several weeks" before colors come in due to customs etc. Can't wait so i ordered a SS! :)

Really depends on how you build your coil. Wraps, wire guage etc. All effects throat hit, vapor production etc. The beauty of a rba is that you can build them to rip your lungs out if you want, for example you can build a 1.0 ohm atty that will hit like a frieght train using a 3.7 battery compared to a LR 306 @ 1.5 ohm. I have both as I carry my 306 in my battery pouch as a backup. Once you go rba there's no turning back! :)

Super thanks Rudy.. Sounds like a winner.

Does the hornet limit anything? I mean, can you set it up like any other genesis style rba? Is it a genesis style? Sorry for the noob Q's.. This would be my first rba and I dont want to be limited with the design of the rba I choose.

Havent used a Genesis but basic operation the same. Build a coil, attach to posts insert wicking material. Or coil with the wicking material then attach to posts. I do the former as you need not make a new coil everytime. When it starts tasting funky just take out the old wick, give the coil a dry burn then thead a new wick thru the coil. easy! I use 30g wire so the coil is not to thin so it doesnt deform when theading thru the wicking material.

You can also look thru this thread and see pictures of Hornet setups people have used. Super easy to build coils/wick!

In this pic, you can see my blue 18490 with the new hornet torched adjacent to my red 18490 with a supershort 1.7 ohm carto on it.

wick one problem.jpghow install coil.jpg

Since i had a problem with the wick in this picture (it was not thick enough i ascertained from all the knowedgable posts and personal advice ECF'rs have given me), i decided to rebuild the whole setup.

Heres how i built the coil: got a screw, wrapped the wire around 4 times, backed the wire down the screw, almost to the end, clipped the left wire a little shorter than the right, placed the screw up to the posts, slipped in the right wire, then the left, backed out the screw, adjusted clearances, tightened hex screws.

finished 2.jpgwick 2 in progress.jpg

You can see the new wick in progress. I got the technique from Hildicat. It is made from rolled cotton. I just rolled up a little rope out of it, leaving it long for now. Then i inserted it thru the coil and wrapped it around the center post and under the coil. I squonked until it was nice and wet and i am going to let it sit for an hour. Then i will give it a vaping session.

I will post more on my opinions on functionality once i get decent coil / wick going. my ohm meter comes tomorrow. I also ordered another hornet in ss, since the quality seems good to this noob.

If you see anything i can improve, please let me know.

Some quick observations: Like others have said, the cap is hard as heck to get off the first time. I listened to Alice and rubbed a little olive oil on the bottor part of the cap.

Torched (Steel - Thanks Pietro) cap is not flimsy.

7 more days and i'll have been RBing A's for a week! Please keep that in mind when listening to my advice. There are many much more knowledgable than me on ECF. I just wanted to share this for those curious about hornet and those unsure about RBing A's - if i can do it, anyone can!

I didn't see this question.

Could I drip/TF a BF hornet on a provari without getting allot of liquid down in the vari? I want the hornet for my reomini but it would be nice to use it on the provari also. The hole looks high but two sided? Plugable?

Thanks

I know nothing about proscarys my brother and this is my first time using attys. Sorry i cant help.

Just had a super awesome vape session off that 18490 and hornet combination. Major improvement from the 5 wrap coil and thin ... wick i originally installed. This unit came without a premade coil/wick installed. I can actually hear it firing (just like i can a carto) and the draw is much less tight than it was before. I was actually considering drilling airhole larger - glad i didnt!

Okay - valuable lesson - much can be changed with some very simple tweaks to wick and coil setup (not neccessarily hardware). I have the airhole right ove coil - thats one weird thing, the way i am building my coils with the low side on the left, it puts the coil/airhole down when firing. dont know how i would fix that unless i screwed the atty on real hard (not going there) or wound my coils reverse of how i am doing them now so i adjusted my grip to fire with index finger in lieu of thumb.

I am going to hit that again for a while and then hit the bed. My first impression - like many have said - so far, RBA = another Game Changer for me.

Oh, and I got to buy a pack of bics to heat up wire!

looking good Russ!! I still haven't tried the machine screw method yet not sure why though don't forget to post that pic in the pic thread if you haven't yet

I think you can drip the Hornet on your Provari since the feed hole is above the bottom and if you wanted to cover the holes you could use a piece of Reo feed tubing or equivalent just cut a little piece then silde it over the post

Thanks Pietro! This beast is hitting great. I can't believe how fascinating it is to rebuild.

Thanks Pietro.

Has anyone tried 28g kanthal over SS mesh in the Hornet?

I have 30g 32g and 2mm 3mm silica wick along with a few hornet parts kits coming with my SS hornet. Should I get any other supplies like the 28g and SS mesh?

30awg has become my favorite as of late but if you plan to do LR coils you may want some 28awg since you can do more wraps and keep the ohms down which translate to more surface area.

I haven't tried the SS mesh yet I here its great but can be a biy finicky/fiddlely and you have to squonk a lot more because it doesn't hold as much juice as silica

So far I am enamored with the RBA. Aside from building it (which is a cinch) it is as simple to squonk as a carto. Yes, no blind squonk, but a 3-4 second squonk every 3 hits works great. No leaks, no bubbling juice in the mouth, for all intents and purposes, it might as well be a carto once built.

Downside is that it hits so well - mega throat hit, copious quantities of vapor and as close to the feeling of a cigarette feel/flavor as I need to come that I don't want to use cartos anymore.

I was kinda intimidated by the whole RBA idea until I read juice junkies tutorial, watched Robs video, read the many posts on here and pm'd a little one on one with Davelog and Hildibro. Thanks to them, I got my sea legs now.

If YOU are in doubt of yourself, don't be. Just get one and start gettin after it.
