You guys must be rolling your wick too tightly. I had poor wicking action with cotton braided candle wick, but with rolled cotton (baton) I just take the tiniest piece and loosely form it into a rope. While still fluffy I feed it through the coil and trim up the ends. Its fully saturated with two, maybe three squonks. I do this with the cap off and can literally see the cotton soak up the juice. I'm vaping away at 12+ watts in less than three minutes.

Too each his own, and if you're happy with your results more power to you, but just as an experiment, the next time you re-wick try a very thin fluffy wick and see what happens.

BTW- My juices range from 75-95% VG.:vapor:

Will do. Thanks for the info. I get to tinker with a differnt build. :) Having a Hornet & Reo has freed up alot of time looking for the next best thing cause there is none. At least I can make a new quest to perfect the art of coil making! :)

Put the stainless top on the existing base. Bases appear to be the same. Stainless top is much easier to slide off. Rewicked. Gonna go vape.

I like it.

Same here! I have a black aluminum Hornet that I have to wrestle with needlenose pliers everytime even with 1 oring removed. I just got my SS Hornet and it slides on and off with ease! I love it!:toast:

I'm guessing Ansel Adams didn't post that picture.

(You young'uns can Google it.)

Jack

You don't have to google - just go down to target and pick up a fine example of his work. His work was very popular with the west palm beach stripper crowd In the 90's. that and black lacquered waterbeds.

Just received my sweet little SS hornet and I really want to use it.

I now see Indy didn't include any premade coils or instructions, so can anyone recommend wire diameter and wraps for my first ever attempt with a rba?

I'm not sure of the wire gauge of the wire included. But I'm certain of the 30 and 32 I ordered extra. The included silica is tiny compared to the 2 and 3 mm I also have extra. Whats a good first wick diameter and do you fold it over.?

Its a beautiful rba, but whats with the Allen drivers for the hornet from Indy which don't even fit the set screws?
I need some 24mg. And a good picture if possible.

atomizer rebuild - YouTube Rebar, this is a video of Rob making a coil. If you haven't seen it, it's definitely worth watching.

Nice thanks.. I wound up the supplied wire 4 turns on some 3mm silica and it read 1.3 Just a bit hot, but it's satisfying when you first setup actually works ok. I take that back. Tastes metallic and burnt and Iv got work to do. One thing I noticed. The reo mini likes it and the vari dont..

Rebar, I soaked my hornet in alcohol before using it to remove any oils and impurities.

There are lots of pix on this thread and another one called REOnauts who are hornet users that may help. Also see the sticky by juice junky.

Good luck bro. Sounds like you almost got it.

I washed it in dish soak.

Anyway.. Its starting to taste better and performs just as well as a lr306. Should be interesting messing around with alternative wicks/coils.

Starting to have second thoughts about another reo cept next one would be run with 18mm batteries instead of 14. Who needs VV when you can tailor our resistance but maintaining a voltage with a larger battery would help.

Just wish Rob built a reo with a 18650 but with the mini tank. Then drop the 510 battery connector down into the body same height as the mini to conceal allot of the hornet inside.

HOLY CRAP, it's $75... =(

It will be a solid investment bro. They are sweet little RBA's. I just bought 2. Only use one, the other is a backup. Gotta have backups cause ya can't just go to the store and buy more if something gets lost or stolen.

I have another rba called a Chalice on its way to me. I hear that they are the best ya can get. Well worth 1/2 month of cigarette money IMO.

This is strange. They are perfect portrait here on my iPhone, that is how I took the pic and how I posted it - but on my PC, their rotated! Weird. I'm sorry y'all. Blix and Pietro have the right idea.

Upcoming in the next week or so will be pix of a 2.1 with a chalice on it. Lets see if I can get the rotation right on them...

Rebar, sounds like you are on the right track homes. Building coils is kinda cool ain't it? I have been using a little #4 machine screw about 3/32 wide to wrap the wire around. Makes a perfect spiral. I also heat the wire orange 3 times, with each successive heating followed by running cold water on it prior to wrapping it. I am Running 30 ga.

Then, with the wire still on the screw, I put the tails thru the posts, tighten the atty screws, align the coil and only then, back the screw out. If it is not perfect, I simply thread the screw back in and adjust it up or down then back the screw out again.

I have been making wix from rolled cotton. You can get a box at CVS for about 6 bucks.

Wire at temcoindustrialpower.com is like 6 bucks for a 100 foot roll!

Keep on rockin bro and please share results and pix.
