the wire I believe is 32awg and I thought the wick was 3mm silica but it may be 1mm can't remember:facepalm: (sorry its been awhile since I received mine)

32 awg & 1mm silica.
I found that 30 awg and 2.5 or 3 mm silica works better.
I have been using both silica and cotton pads rolled similar to picture above. The only drawback to cotton is you have to be patient after building and let soak for an hour or so.

Have any Canadians recently purchased an ERA or Hornet for their Reos? I bought one back in the first Co-op and would like another but I can't seem to locate any. Have been watching the classifieds, etc as I would happily buy used but no dice. Indy vape shop does not seem to ship to Canada.

Thanks for any input.

I've found that cotton takes at most, 3 minutes to fully wick. Couldn't imagine waiting an hour for a wick to soak up ejuice.

310 vapers.com - They carry the Aluminum colored ones. ( out of stock on most colors right now though. ) The Indy Vape ones are SS. Maybe have a friend in US buy it and send it to you?

Hmmm. You must have thin juice. I have vaped minutes after building also but have burned the wicks. It soaks up alot of juice if you give it time to soak ALL the way thru the coil not just the outer layer of cotton. It takes time and numerous drops to penetrate to the MIDDLE of the cotton and in turn the wick will last longer. Just my 2 cents.

Agreed. I have been letting mine soak for an hour too. I use 70% VG. It produced much better results than hitting after just wetting the wick. I don't know if I would be able to wait if I didn't have my other REO sitting there locked and loaded though...

You guys must be rolling your wick too tightly. I had poor wicking action with cotton braided candle wick, but with rolled cotton (baton) I just take the tiniest piece and loosely form it into a rope. While still fluffy I feed it through the coil and trim up the ends. Its fully saturated with two, maybe three squonks. I do this with the cap off and can literally see the cotton soak up the juice. I'm vaping away at 12+ watts in less than three minutes.

Too each his own, and if you're happy with your results more power to you, but just as an experiment, the next time you re-wick try a very thin fluffy wick and see what happens.

BTW- My juices range from 75-95% VG.:vapor:

I would be a fool not to take the advice of the man who turned me on to rolled cotton. I just happen to be planning to build my new SS hornet tonight and am gonna give less cotton a go. Thanks Hildicat!

No lie. I'm sitting here reading this and I JUST rewicked my Chalice as described earlier and am blowing clouds as I type this. Just make sure to keep that wick WET. Juice it up every three drags or when you feel the slightest flavor drop-off.

Thats why we got Reo's, right? So easy feed!

The Chalice is more forgiving to over-squonking as the juice will drain right back into the bottle. I have found that I can juice the ERA/Hornet till I just see a bead of liquid start to form at the air hole. When in doubt I like to slide up the door and watch the juice travel up the tube while squonking. Hold it for a three count with the juice filling up the tube and I know my wick has been wett.

Words of wisdom. Looks like I am going to have a chalice of my own too...

drifter, you're going to LOVE the Chalice. I have a Chalice, an ERA, an A7, a Hornet, and a Reomizer. You are going to LOVE the Chalice. It's worth the money (in your case, the trade.) Let us know what you think.

Jan

You betcha Jan! Can't wait to get it. Gonna miss min blue 2.0 though. So much that I will get a blue 2.1 to honor it so I can use the chalice. Thanks Jan

Any of you guys used a chimi wick on a dripped rba like the hornet? Iv got some 635 ss mesh and 28g wire on the way and wondered if a chimi wick is only beneficial for a tank rba.. Chimi wick is silica sleeve over SS mesh..

I haven't tried this but I know few others who have tried it the other way around SS mesh over silica
