My first coil wrap with the hornet.... i was blown away. i never blew out that much vapor in my whole life and it was super tasty. i was convinced that this was the atomizer ive been looking for. My research paid of. But i do agree that it gets pretty hot after chain vaping. i guess its ok to take a break because its so damn hard to put it down. Every atomizer gets hot when chain vaping right?

No. A chalice does not get hot when chain vaping, rather it seems the more you hit it, the better it gets. And it is already awesome.

I got it! I know I posted in the photos and storage thread, but thought I should also add my thoughts here.

I got a stainless steel one and I'm using it on a mini. My first impressions are so good, I'm seriously thinking of a couple more to outfit my other mini and VV Grand. It's made very well and feels very sturdy.

Also, people have mentioned the close post configuration. For me, it's a plus. My coils fit perfectly

I love this thing!

That is a beautiful REO cat! I too find the hornet very easy and straight forward to coil and wick. I understand your love of it!

Thanks. Those are just some stickers. I like to put a little matching sticker on the backside collar, too. All my REOs are outfitted that way. :D

This is day two, and I'm still impressed with the hornet! I'm using that mini so much I'm constantly changing batteries.

Somewhere someone else mentioned they thought if the base was threaded it would be better. So far, I'm liking the no thread bit. No leaks, and o-rings are easy to replace.

My o-rings broke and I can't find one that fits! Anyone know where to get more? Seems they're disposable. Wish I could get one with just a TINY bit looser fit.

Indyvapershop has o-rings and other parts. They are the US retail source for SS ERA and Hornet but stock is low. They may start carrying Anodized colors but won't know for a couple weeks about that. Source for info is Indy rep on Facebook.

So what makes the Chalice better than the Hornet and does it really warrent the price difference? Also, where does one get a Chalice?

Hi unsure! In my opinion, the hornet is a very well made, high quality RBA that produces a fantastic vape. Much better than the smoktech SS 1.7 cartos that I loved. It was my first RBA.

What makes the chalice better to me is something that pictures and testimony cannot quantify. It is the way that it vapes. Every hit is the same temperature and consistency. It even seems to get better with each consecutive hit. It is a chain vapers wet dream. Even if you aren't, you will likely become one, as I have.

The hornet was a stellar vape, but got real warm real quick. The chalice does not.

The chalice also engineered so that the juice port is directly beneath the coil and the bowl is sloped down to the juice port. If wicked and coiled properly, it is essentially flood proof. Ingenious design, unparalleled quality and perfect vape are what separates the chalice from the rest. In my opinion, it is in another league. Like I heard Tim say something like "if you don't have one, you probably wouldn't understand"

It was so good that I just traded a nearly new hornet, A nearly new REO 2.0 and 2 aw IMR 18490s (about $230) worth of goods for a second one -a chalice II. I would not trade them for anything or any amount. What's that say about how good I think they are?

People are finding them here on the classies. The maker, markbugs.com says they are sold out. I found both of mine here on ECF.

Ratman should also be offering opinions soon too!

Good luck!

Gil, I have a Chalice, a couple of ERAs, a Reomizer, a Hornet, and an A7, and I will say that TO ME, the Chalice really is in it's own league. The vape is perfect all the time, every time. The fact that the bowl slopes down (like a swimming pool drain) makes it impossible to flood it. It's just a really, really solid piece of work. The cap screws on instead of popping on with o-rings. The side air hole is the exact right size (for ME) for a perfect draw without having to ream it out or having to try to cover part of it. The drip tips fit perfectly (some of the ERAs seem to be a little loose and my drip tips easily fall off of them.)

I love the Hornet, and I especially love that it fits on my Minis. But if I could get another Chalice, I would. And sooner or later, I probably will.

Super_X said it.....it's hard to really pinpoint exactly what makes the Chalice so sweet. But it is sweet. After trying several RBAs, to ME, it's the very best.

Jan knows what she is talking about and is a much more credible source than I, I am a vaping noob. Here's something else to chew on....

Rob (the mod master himself) walks up to his dad one day (blown away by the chalice) and says "dad, you gotta check this new RBA out" Rob aint the type that gets excited easilly, so his dad knows it must be special, so he takes a hit, then another, then says "that is one bad mamajamma son!"

Robs dad unscrews the chalice, hands Rob back his Grand, and walks up in the house, comes out with a few reomizers and says "I won't be needing these anymore son, I'll be keeping this new one", thanks him and walks away.

I'm guessing Robs dad would throw him an old school asswhuppin if he tried to separate that chalice from his dad.

I don't know how it really happened, but Rob said that his chalice is on his dads grand!

Ok Im convienced. Chalice II I assume is where you order it when they are in stock but is that symbol after the 119.00 English Pound or USD? Do you know shipping cost because it looks like the site is overseas.

Yes, that's the site; they're in Romania. That's where I got mine. The price listed is in Euros....(or English pounds????) it was (and I'm assuming still is) $150 USD and that included shipping. Not sure it'll be the same this go-around. Hope so. I've heard from someone (???) that they will be available again in April or May (which will be here pretty soon....) I have signed up for their newsletter in order to get an email when they are available.

There has been talk that the second run has different screws than the first run. Alice didn't like them.....some did. I don't know, and I don't know if we'll get a choice of "styles" (of screws) or not. But I'm going to keep my eyes open and see. I think Ratman (Rob) has or is getting one of the "new" second run Chalices. I'm anxious to see his or hear from him.

Don't let the Chalice I and Chalice II on the site confuse you. Those are both just cosmetic styles of the Chalice. Those pictures have been up since the first run. I think the cosmetics haven't changed. The second run has different screws. It should be called V2, but don't think it is. Anyway, just a heads up, there. If you find one on Classys, make sure to ask whether it's first run or second run (if you care)....or ask the seller to get specific about the screws. I've heard pros and cons about both runs (screw-wise. Ha.) I have the first run and love it....would probably like (or not mind) the second run too, if it vapes the same.

I don't want (or mean to) to over-sell these, but I really do love the Chalice....above all others. I AM going to get another one as soon as I can. I have enough RBAs to keep me until their next run comes out, so I don't want to have to haunt the classifieds and "deal" with getting a used one. I'm going to be eagerly waiting for April/May, though, and jump on one when I can.

EDIT: I was just reading the Mark Bugs site and it says the price is $160 USD which includes PP fees and shipping worldwide, and I also noticed that they no longer offer the "Chalice I" style. DUH!! Hope my post hasn't confused you TOO much!!!

I have a V I and a V II. The biggest (and most important to me) is that there is no more brass. Bloody awesome! The posts and screws are Titanium. The brass is also gone from the connector and juice port.

So V II = no brass whatsoever but somewhat funky screws. They heads are nice and large, but the wire being the thread is different. I think that it is an advantage in that the wire is less prone to breaking. I dig it.

Always remember to pull your battery when coiling your RBA. I didn't yesterday when coiling my new V II and accidentally hit the fire button with only one side of the coil in its leg. Melted the wire clean off. Didn't collapse the spring either!
