It's actually me that has to thank all of you for the entertainment and education today. I learned a lot about wicks, oxidation techniques, that Caig Progold has been know as Deoxit Gold since 2006, and that APV holders don't have to look like a wooden toothbrush rack. And with that I'll say good night. 6am will come fast!

Good night, K-man!

JACKFROST original posting~

Wasn't sure whether to start different thread for this but since it was done for an orion V2.....

Its funny how you think you've got something nailed, try something else and realise just how wrong you were. Well the other day I made my best wick yet and had a desire to share the love . Thing is I had started to think (fairly rare, I grant you) about what was going on with the oxidisation of the stainless steel in a genesis wick.

Now I know that its a topic that has had a lot of posts/videos etc already but I was still having trouble. Heating and quenching many times, even to the point of having the wick start to break up, still resulted in a short when measured on the multimeter. I was beginning to try different water for the quenching when it occurred to me that the quenching wasn't likely to be doing much for the oxidisation process and was just hardening the wick.

So I cut a strip 30mm wide and attacked it with the blow torch before rolling. Didn't bother to quench it, just kept heating both sides until I got no continuity over the width. Then I rolled the wick after cutting a piece from the strip, slapped a coil round it without bothering to anneal the Kanthal (didn't even get it that tight) and fitted it.

That was it ....no shorts...no hotspots...nothing except a fog of vapour!! Incidentally I was getting some fluctuating readings until I stopped using the points of the probes and used the sides, must have been cutting through the oxide layer and getting to conductive material underneath. Anyway if this helps someone I will be overjoyed, now if anyone has any tips on how to improve the flavour of 100% VG

why pay close attention to the edges

I do it as matter of course. Those cut ends can be a scourge on set up the traditional way. They say they stick out and can cause shorts hence the foldover ala Scubabatdan was born. I have had no issues with them using this method, but I do hit them a bit more just in case. ;-)

I didn't even do the fold over just rolled it up and put it in!

It's wonderful to see so many new people on this thread. And the various levels of expertise of the newbs here - from those who've made a giant leap from an eGo or KGo to those who've already experienced every single Genesis type of atty on the market today.

Says a lot about Zen~ that truly everyone can, "Just Vape It."

But I have to say the biggest tribute to Zen~ of all, is the longevity of every single person who makes it here. I like considering myself an 'old hand' having been here since February, though there are many who know a great deal more than I.
What I mean, though, is that once you find your way here, you want to stay..., well, forever. You can check out any time you like, but you can never leave.... The thing is, no one WANTS to leave.

Zen~ is doing everything right: from an unbeatable product, to unparalleled customer service. Above and beyond that, though, is the community that has grown organically, not only because of one man's product vision, but because of a philosophy of living that can be respected.

I know, I know, sounds like I'd drink the Kool-Aid. I'm not a fan-girl, though. Just not built that way. I've found a hero, here, though, something the world is crying out for. I admire and respect each and every one of you.

I am not only, "Vaping Proud", but proudly living the life of a Zenfidel....

P.S. I'm wine-ey tonight. Still, 'in vino veritas'. Hell, alcohol makes me forget my Latin, too.

Here here!! I have to say, I've joined many mod/APV threads while waiting on/trying to purchase my mod/APV, but this is the first one that I've actually stuck around on for more than a week or two after receiving my APV! Going on 3 months later this month!! Thanks to Zen~ and all of my fellow Zenfidels for creating such an awesome community here! :D
