It may be relevant for me to drop in here... the two faulty 500ml bottles of Box Elder 48mg nic I have (which smell and taste bad) are both lot 256. As soon as I read your lot numbers I had to check them, kinda gave me a little shiver when I saw the 256 on both bottles.

More than ever I would really like to know if these two bottles are just bad tasting or over strength.

Olef, PM me. If they smell bad, it could be more of the really high stuff, in fact I would expect it. BE nic in general has very little smell. If you have original bottles and don't mind sending one, this would be excellent.

The government is going to get their fat asses into this anyway and I don't trust them anymore than I do Box Elder.

As far as a hood, Kurt could tell as soon as he opened the bottle that it was way too high and he didn't have it under a hood at the time and he is still with us thankfully, so I think anybody would be able to tell also. If that was the case than I wouldn't even try to test it. I would send it to Kurt if he was willing to test it.

Nic fumes do take a while to hit, but they will. You wold get dizzy and light headed and get ringing in the ears, but probably not fatal. OTOH, you do not want to be in that state when working with that stuff! 3 drops on the skin that you do not know about would be the hospital or worse.

Kurt, is there a way that we can test our own supplies with a PH meter to get a ball park figure for our Nic Strength?

Thanks for your help in this important matter, it's appreciated.

Maybe just a sample? Should 16 ounces of possibly high test really be sent through mail, just to test?

You might be right, but from a safety standpoint pure nicotine is routinely sent by mail. It just has to be packed properly. A photo of the actual bottle label would be ok, as I think about it. I still need about 20 mL for multiple trials.

I asked the question in the context of international mailing of toxic substances.
Even within the us there are limits relative to how much of a toxic substance can be sent, various classifications, based on postulated toxicity.
In theory, I expect anyone working with pure nic would have to follow the rules of 10.16.3 of the dmm 601. Lower concentrations still pick up under later sections.
If someone is postulating high concentration nic, the general consumer exemptions would be a hard sell.

I know you can import 40% extracted nicotine to the US without a problem. Last I checked there's a ban on synthetic nicotine.

Packing Group: II - medium danger at 40% concentration.
Same requirement as Li-ion batteries

I went to the doctor last week because my ears have been ringing - like I left a concert, and I have been lightheaded.
She said I was fine but wanted me to get my bloodwork done. I reallly need to make that appointment!

Anyway... reading this thread ... everything has just clicked.

I had just cracked open my bottle of Box Elder 48mg PG two weeks ago. I now wonder what my so-called 12mg juices really are.
My bottle is from lot 256.

That is why I contacted BE today. My 48mg is lot 257. And it smell off and tastes too strong to me as well.
