This is a properly inspirational thread, and I hope that lots of people who are thinking about giving up ciggies get to see it. I'm going to send the link to a few people I know too.
My experience was not borne out of wanted to quit AT ALL. I went into my local shop (small corner shop) and I noticed a little sign in the window. I had heard of e-cigs from seeing some billboard advertisements, and from the people accosting smokers at London Euston Station. I think the e-cig was £7 (for a disposable) and a packet of cigs is about £7.50 for 20 here in the Uk (depending on the brand). I just thought 'why not?'
I was amazed. I didn't know they actually produced 'smoke' and that the end lit up! I did buy another packet of 10 after that, but I struggled to finish them, because I found I much preferred the e-cig. All in, I think I quit within about 3 days. I have had one since then, 'just to see', but it was hideous, and I'm not going back.
My quit date was 28th May 2012, so I have now been quit for over 9 months. Since then I have upgraded from my disposable to an Innokin 'All in One' Charger cig-a-like pack, then to an Ego with a vivi nova tank, then to an Ego Twist, and about a week ago I took delivery of my VAMO. (I definitely wouldn't want to go back to cig-a-likes now). It sounds like a lot of expense, I know, and it is. But I have spent just over £600 in vaping supplies, and not smoked over £1400 of cigarettes. Bargain! And this was based upon the 14 a day I was smoking when I quit, not the 20-25 a day I would have crept back up to after a while.
I enjoy vaping, every bit as much as the enjoyment I used to get out of smoking. But :
1. it's cheaper
2. I don't smell so bad
3. I don't always have to go outside
4. No more dirty ashtrays to clean up (or ... butts to pick out of the hedge)
5. I don't snore
6. I sleep better
7. I don't wake up with a cough
8. I am no longer inhaling a cocktail of carcinogenic chemicals
9. I can feel proud of myself
10. I have a shiny new VAMO to play with.
PS - Prior to starting vaping, I had been a smoker for
31 years!!!
