My skin broke out like I was a teenager AND also became very dry and the same time. So yes, the water is a must. I'm two months out now..the acne calmed down after a couple of weeks. My smell and taste senses became extremely heightened. It wasn't until a month ago that I discovered ejuices, so at least now I can satisfy my sweet tooth with bakery juices!

Can't say it enough: water, water, water.

wow! thanks for all the comments.. good to know I'm not the only one.

I drink a lot of water, and thankfully haven't had the urge to go back to cigs. much better willpower than when I first started vaping!

I'll just keep on with typical acne treatments, H2O and wait this out.. it's good and bad to see the crap coming out of my lungs- good that its clearing out, but knowing its been building up in there for 22 years.. my lawd.

so happy to call myself a full-time vaper!

I smoked for 6 years and when I quit I went from smoking 8-12 cigs a day to 0 in one day when I picked up my vape. The first night I was sleeping better(although found it much more difficult to get up in the morning). My appetite started to get better and my sense of smell and taste were coming back within a week or so. I had a couple days of headaches and mild nausea but the fact my vape still delivered nicotine cut down on the side effects of quitting A LOT as I had tried quitting cold turkey in the past and would feel so sick that I couldn't help but start smoking again. After 2-3 weeks I felt a lot better. After a month you won't even miss smoking.

The stuff that has been building up in my lungs has been my biggest fear about the whole quiting process .Maybe I am imagining it worst than it really is .

I'm only a few days ahead of you (started vaping Friday night). I don't know about you but I've been coughing up nasty goo for years already (I guess 30 yrs will do that to you). Didn't know if it was phlegm or bits of lung (sorry if that's TMI) but it never stopped me from smoking.

Look at it this way...no matter how much or how little you have in your lungs to clear, at least they're CLEARING. All that gunk is getting out of your body, and you're HEALING. It'll only last a little while and the benefits long term far outweigh the disgust while it's happening.

I have tried to quit sooo many times- too many to count. the only successful attempts were the days I found out I was pregnant- and although I did great then, after about a month after having a newborn, I went right back to it, with both my girls. the gums didn't work, the lozenges, Chantix (big mistake), patches are a joke... vaping works for me, and it's darn tasty!

when I started vaping in 2011, my intent was to quit analogs, but in Maine, vaping (is)/was too foreign for public use- I don't like calling attention to myself, unless its my red hair, green eyes or tattoos people want to oogle over *lol* really, I prefer being a wall-flower. smoking cigarettes and keeping them on hand was kind of a social necessity, for me, anyway.. though I was outcast from certain people that did not smoke, hated that I smoked, and complained about the smell when I came back from stepping outside or "taking the dog for a walk."

so just like with my physical colors, its not about what others think.. or the looks.. or the questions.. it's about me- specifically my health- making it long, without COPD, cancer or a hole in my neck. my non-smoking friends and family really appreciate it (especially my kids!) and have been my biggest supporters.

tobacco is a tough one to kick. thankful there is vaping. thankful there are places like ECF!!

I just hit my 9mth mark off the smellys...and its been a journey all right..first 2 mths ...I wont lie....were hell....I had reactions...to levels of pg n vg.....it all came down to balance for me...50/50 or no more then 60pg/40vg.....taste buds will always be a issue...some days its like no flavour....keeping your mouth moist can be hard...I tried drinking the gallons of water trick...better to have small amounts more often...as im a aussie...not many vapers in my area...so thank heavens for ecf..or I would be lost...it can be a lot to take on board at times....but that's the fun in learning...and yes its like a hobby...it took me just over 3mths to say goodbye to smellys..Christmas time last year...I admit I lit one up at a party...just for the hell of it...oh yuck!!! it showed me ...I have no desire to ever go back....congrates to all ...who have made the change to vaping....

As of writing this I have not smoked a cigarette in three weeks exactly.
Quit cold turkey. I have quit 8 times including this one, so I knew what to expect.
Was smoking about a half pack a day.

For some reason I haven't been coughing up phlem this time. A few pimples but I have been eating lots of chocolate lately so I expected a few.

For me the first three days of quiting are the hardest. You should expect to not sleep well, not be able to concetrate (well on anything besides how much you could use a smoke haha) and feelings of anger or depression and generally intense emotional swings.

After the initial three days I very much craved a cigarette but not as intensely as before. The cravings came and went often. With time the cravings become less frequent. I would say after the two week mark the hardest part is behind you. All thats left is to keep the will power to remain a non-smoker.

To battle the cravings I would do several things. Change things up to keep tricking my mind...no routines!
Keep your mind busy. Somtimes I put a cigarette in my mouth and 'smoked' it without lighting it...taking deep breaths and exhaling. Part of the habit is the physical action of deep inhales and the oral fixation of the cigarette to lips. Do it, it works (just dont light it :)

I went the opposite of most everyone here. I quit first and ordered a mod a few days ago.
I enjoy smoking, but it WILL kill us.

One week before I quit smoking I was at work enjoying a smoke when another guy came out to the smoking area with a mod. I was curious and ask questions. I had no idea such a thing existed. It had such a curious affect on me I actually thought more about quitting cigarettes, did it (quit), and kept my mind occupied researching mods and accessories.

The guy I talked to mention this forum was where he gathered info for his mod purchase. His actions of vaping around me and my coworkers helped two of us remind ourselves we need to quit, and that there is an alternative to analogs. Both of us are now non-smokers!
I want to thank everyone here who has offered support and experience to others. Your actions have indirectly helped myself and two other guys get off analogs.

Provari mini and AGA T2 on the way. I hope I like vaping :)

I'm starting my eighth week but I had the flu when I stopped smoking tobacco and started vaping so all the fluieness and detox combined to make a miserable experience miserable. At least I was down so it didn't matter which was which. After a couple of weeks this wonderful deep loose cough with all this crap flying out of my mouth stopped. If I try I can make a little fake sounding cough now, it's weird not coughing. I was also little short with people but not as ferocious as I was in previous attempts to quit smoking. I am beginning to think nicotine is a scape goat for all the other junk they add to tobacco, cigarette tobacco anyway. It's slowly becoming all good.

I am having some of the same issues as well, though I'm curious about one thing...but not too sure how to ask the other ladies about it without it being embarrassing or disgusting.

There's a ladies subforum on here if you would like to head over there and I am sure you'll find your question has probably already been asked and answered ...
