@Mactavish I personally have never had any of my DIY concoctions around long enough to have flavors fade but I did have a Lava Cake that I left sitting after speed steeping for a few weeks or a month or more that got overly powerful and needed to be diluted a bit. It was good at first and I enjoyed it but forgot about it and found it had gotten a but to strong. I have done both my heating and time aging to let the flavors infuse and I have found no difference in the slightest.

ditto, trying to rectify that a bit finally and making up 1 - 1.5 liters of juice this weekend to steep while I vape on what is already steeped/steeping.

@Fozzy I never mix more than 60MLs of any flavor even my most common tobaccos as I get bored with flavors faster than the seasons change! I just ordered almost 2,000 MLs of bases and flavors but still probably won't change how I do things because even my favorite tobacco is now 3 variations.

I do 20ml testers and 100 - 220ml batches but I go thru 10 - 20mls per day @ 2mg. I am mixing up 6 or 8 different recipes in total this weekend.

@Fozzy71 now it makes sense as you are not mixing up 1,000 MLs of one flavor! OK
Yes. I change flavors frequently during the day. I often will even take a hit of one tank followed by a hit from another. I have 5 tanks on my desk with different flavors in each and 4 other flavors in 30 ml dripper bottles for the RDA on my desk right now.

None of my DIY stuff has made it much past 30 days steeping to this point as I only started DIY a couple months ago so I am trying to stock up on some bigger DIY batches of things I know I like right now so they can steep longer. I would much rather mix up a few 200ml batches once or twice a month than what I have been doing with all the little testers, then 120ml batches that never have time to steep properly. Plus, if I make a few big batches and run out of some flavors then I get to place a new flavoring order. :headbang:

That makes me smile. Your vaping habits are exactly like mine. I have 6 - 8 rigs going at a time and switch flavors constantly during the day. I have many 15ml dripper bottles going at one time. I mix my ADV's in 120ml batches and my desk is littered with bottles.

A couple of 4 months ago, I made a recipe for 240ml to take overseas. I have now noticed that it has less "clarity" or maybe a dullness. I intended to vape it as an all day/everyday vape. But, now I vape it while vaping 6-8 others. Sooo, maybe my recipe flavor percentages are a little strong???

What just came to mind was to reduce all flavors by 20% so that the juice can just last longer, flavor-wise. But, I am staying with the recipe proportionally.

My mixing in 50ml bottles last about 2-3 months and I am not noticing a loss of flavor other than the one 240ml bottle.

Sooo, if I want to go larger with the bottles, is it the general experience that flavorings will stay longer if they are at a less total percentage of the overall mix?? Say, instead of a total of 20%, reduce the flavors proportionately to say 16%??

The recent FDA debacle pushed me into full time DIY. That's a good thing because the juices I make are generally better than what I was buying from vendors. I get to play with the mix and tailor it to my taste.

Most of what I mix gets used within a month or two and most are fine once they have steeped a couple of weeks. I'm not sure what the cycle length is before they start going South, but most of mine don't last that long without being vaped.

Of course, I've created some un-redeemable creations that got trashed without a chance to reach maturity! I've also gone back and tried some vendor juices that were up to two years old. Some are still vapeable and others have turned sour. I guess the components in the flavorings are what determines useful life. PG, VG, and Nic will remain stable for years if kept cool. Flavorings are another thing altogether. Some have ingredients that will sour or turn rancid.

I'm in the over flavoring actually kills a mix rather quickly camp. I've taken my percentages down over 50% since I started diy over a year ago.

Also any additive, em, vape wizard, etc really dilutes a mix - to me anyway.

I also never make more then a months worth of juice (in total) at a time anymore. Mixing with a scale is so easy and clean that I actually look forward to a mixing session now.

YMMV

I agree. Just made a two ingredient juice. A mustard milk.
8%: TPA Vanilla Bean Ice Cream
6%: TPA Strawberry

Simple and tasty, going back to basics before I make any more multiple ingredient juices.

I'm vaping a mix today that I think tastes more like a real cig than anything I've tried yet. It's a simple recipe I picked up on one of the threads here on ECF.

3% FA 7 Leaves Ultimate
.5% FA Black Fire (that's 1/2%)

It's smooth, light with a background sweetness that's barely detectable, but a little smoky. It's similar to what I remember of Winston cigs, but very clean. I tire quickly if a mix is overpowering in flavor and tend to start with low percentages of flavor and add more flavor in small increments after a week to ten days if it's still weak. This one is nice right now after 10 days steeping and shaking.

I'm going have to try that tonight. Sounds nice.

Dave, do you use a lot of FA flavors? Curious as I really like them for the consistency in usage from flavor to flavor.

Sorry for the high jack.

Right now, my favorites are Flavourart and Hangsen. Flavourart is highly concentrated, so start at the low end of the scale. Hangsen flavors are less concentrated.

For instance, I like FA Desert Ship at 1%. It's just right for me. Hangsen Desert Ship is a little on the weak side at 3% and probably needs to be more in 5% to 7% range. Both are good at the right concentration.
