I've been vaping since I turned 48, I think. I found these cig-a-likes at 7-11, for 12 bucks I'd get five of what looked like the filter tip of a cigarette, it actually contains a coils and cotton saturated with enough to last my a few hours. Then I went with it running, loving all the new technology put ibti it, all while remaining much more healthy I'd I'd continued to smoke. I just recently celebrated my 61st birthday with COPD.
I started vaping right after I joined the forum here in the summer of 2009. I had seen a brief story on local news about these electronic cigarettes that young people were using. Technology has greatly improved over the years and when I look back at how it was when I started I'm amazed that I stuck with it. I am more likely to open a vape store with what's in my basement than I am to ever quit vaping.
Coming up on 12 years for me after smoking for 45+ years. I don't plan to ever quit vaping. I rebuild my coils and make my e-liquid so vaping is basically free now.
I've Vaped since late 2009. Shifted to Unflavored a Handful of Years back. Quit Nicotine and went to 0mg on Mar 13th (Daylight Savings Time Day) 2022.

I started in mid 2009 so a few weeks away from year 14.
It's been 5 years, 3 months, 18 days since I last smoked, thanks to vaping.

About 12 1/2 years for me, yeah, cig-a-likes and egos and the venerable T3S did the trick, for me about a week from starting to vape and stopping combust tobacco. Found my nic "sweet spot" and decent flavors fairly quickly.

I never quit smoking, but the pack of cigarettes I bought along with my first cigalike is now close to ten years old and probably pretty stale.

I have one of those multi-panel solar things that backpackers hang on their backs on top of their backpacks, with the panels open to the sun. Then I also have an emergency radio with a solar panel on top, and an emergency flashlight with solar panel. I might have to wait longer for the recharges, but I've made sure to have several ways to recharge in a grid down situation.
August will make six years for me. The first couple years I did smoke an occasional pack of Marlboros along the way but never went totally back to smoking. Now, I can't remember the last actual cigarette I smoked. Certainly don't miss it. Vaping was instrumental in my quitting tobacco. Forty two years of cigarettes did cause some COPD but it's manageable without meds for now. I may or may not quit vaping at some point but I still enjoy it. I do use another nicotine product though while at work. I found the nicotine pouches to work quite nicely while I'm working, I work in a call center and get 2 fifteen minute breaks and 30 minute lunch which is when I get to vape. The rest of the time I have one of those pouches going. If I ever had to quit vaping, I think I would still use these for nicotine.
I am similar. I have to stealth vape at work and use Swedish snus at work. I can sneak a couple puffs here and there but snus keeps me level during the work day. For me, one isn’t enough without the other.
