How much did a pack of cigarettes coast when you started and how much when you switched?

I started in 1976. Gas was about $.50/gallon and I remember being ...... if I had to buy cigs from a machine because they were $.50 instead of $.35 at the store. Minimum wage was $2.10.

Before I quit I was rolling my own (for 2 years) at about $1.20/pack (buying the tobacco in PA, where loose tobacco was taxed differently. Before that I would buy cartons in WV where they were $5.20/pack. Right now in Maryland they average about $7.00/pack. Gas is $3.60/gal and minimum wage is $7.25.

I seem to remember buying a pack in NY or NJ a few years back and paying over $10.00.

I remember one time,my best friend came over and had a pack of Marlboro reds.
He was like,Dude lets head out to the field and smoke these up.
Not wanting to be uncool,i was like let's go!!
One right after another, we smoked that whole pack until it was gone with no breaks in between..
Once one was about to go out he would light another and hand it to me.. it was like 20 or 30 minutes or how ever long it took to smoke about 10 smokes each..
It was like him being Bill Murry and me Chevy Chase in Caddyshack, when Bill Murry was making Chevy Chase smoke that bluegrass and drink that bad wine..
every time i see that scene i think of us out there trying to act cooler than the other one just suffering through it..

It's funny now, but terrible time that day..

I never felt more sick than i did on the walk back..I have no idea why i never quit that day.. Being cool really sucked that day

Smokes were $.25 a pack in vending machines at the bowling alley, when I first tried them. Usually got the French fries, tasted better, and was only 15 cents. They were $6 a pack at the reservation when I started to vape, ~$9 at the supermarket. That was a year ago, don't know/care how much they are now. Although that would mean I would have to recalculate how much I haven't spent on tobacco, and could justify a new rba. hmm.....

Vape long and Prosper!!!

I started in 2002, and I was only 15 so my mom was the one buying me cigs, so I am not positive on what they cost. Although if I remember correctly they were around $3-$4 a pack and $30-$35 for a carton.

When I quit (just over 3 months ago) the cost was around $8.50 for Camel 99's, and $6.50 for Pall Mall Reds (I switched to PM's the last year I was smoking to save a bit of money).

I love vaping! :vapor:
