How much did a pack of cigarettes coast when you started and how much when you switched?

When I was a kid 55 yrs ago, there was a candy store nearby that sold 1 cig for .05 cents. He had one jar of Marlboro mixed with Winston mixed with chesterfield and he had a jar of unfiltered cigs and a jar of menthol cigs. All of them were 5 cents a piece. Back then, For 1 pk, about 40 cents.
When I quit the price was in the $5.50 to $6.50 range

Seems they were under a dollar when I started but I can't be sure because we just stole them from a friends dad. I said I would quit if they ever reached $2, then $3, then $4 and so on. They were about $6-7 when I quit almost 4 years ago. The highest I ever paid was on a fishing trip to Alaska, seems like it was about $14 but I sure wasn't going to be without (pre ecig).

In 2005 when I was deployed in Iraq a carton of Miami cost 600 Dinar or $1.00... That's right a carton!

I remember my mother sending me to white Castle for CIGS putting in 15 cents in the vending machine and getting 2 cents in the side of the pack, so 13 cents back around 1950.

Two years ago, I was RYO at a cost of .89 cents a pack counting shipping.

When I started smoking it was around a buck a pack. Today where I live packs are around $10 a pack

When I started smoking at the grand old age of 13, I could get a pack of smokes for about $3. Current price of a pack of 30 here in Australia is around $24, most of which is tax.

I just worked that out at close to $9,000 a year at a pack a day. vaping, including all hardware, and DIY juice will cost me something like $500 a year, and I think that's probably overestimating.

When i started smoking a pack of cigarettes was $2.25 here in California, min wage was $3.35 a hour. I quit the cigarettes a year ago in May 13. I was paying $5.50 a pack could get a discount if I bought 2 packs. Min wage was $10.

California has some of the most nanny laws in the USA but they dont over tax the hell out of tobacco like some places.

When I was in the military (long time ago) the "overseas" price for a carton was a buck. Last time I bought a pack of commercial cigs it was $7.00..then I went RYO...and now I vape and I'm free!!
