When I started... About 90ish cents... When I quit, about 5.50. But, in MA... When I left there a couple years ago, 8.50 a pack. So freakin glad to be out of Worcester.
25 cents for Marlboro in 1960 in Florida at local 7-11. $4.85 at tobaccoshop in GA bought by the carton no name brand. Huge tax increases the last 10 years, but also inflation has a way of adding up. Loaf of bread back then was 25 cents, for day old bread 10 cents.
I think they were 1.50 a pack when I started in 89...I used to save my lunch money!
Funny story when I used to smoke I was a casino playing slots...I was beside a woman whose machine was hitting like crazy..her tray was full and she had buckets of quarters around her. She ran out of cigarettes and wasn't about to give up the machine. She asked me for one and when I gave it to her she reached into her tray and put a big handful of quarters in mine. She asked several more times and did the same thing. When I left I gave her a few more. She probably gave me well over 50 dollars for about 7 cigarettes!
CassiusCloud sounds like we're about the same age and from the same area! I remember them being about 50 cents around '77. I was buying them in Wheeling IL. They're just under $7.00 now.
