Being 65 as of the 3rd, here's my lil' story fer ya'll:

Eighteen years ago I quit cold turkey by my own choosing. Day-um, I was miserable. After four weeks I told my bride that I was thinking about starting smoking again. She encouraged, "Give it a while longer." Well, six weeks later, after gaining 27 pounds and making life miserable for everyone around me; family, friends, coworkers, acquaintances AND strangers, I told my bride that I was gonna start smoking again. Her response, "Please do!"

My three daughters, young teens at the time, have since then told me that those ten weeks were the worse in their lives. WHOA! Well, I knew I HAD to quit but didn't want to put anyone through my misery again. HOT DAY-UM, found this site and made a few well informed purchases, thanx to the wonderful folk here.

Here I am after 47 years of two PaD, nine months in on a freakin' fantastic journey; tobacco free, no stomped kittens, no road rage AND no being a b*tch with balls!

I don't relate my experience as an excuse nor alibi. I just tell my story to give encouragement for those looking for FREEDOM from 'bakky. If there was ever a 'poster boy' for why and how to quit, here I is!

I am 21 and I quit smoking 6 months ago. I had tried vaping before but never took to it, then after numerous failed attempts to quit (usually lasting around a month) I decided to give it another go. I'm so glad I did because I've honestly never felt better since ditching the cigs. I started smoking when I was 14 and I never truly realized how destructive analogs were until I quit.

Some folks here making me feel like an old man, other ones making me like a pup :)

I'm 42, has been smoking since I was 14 or 15.

And have found that mostly it is something appealing to the "older set". A lot of it I think is that we are starting to feel the effects of age and no longer think of ourselves as bullet proof.

i'm 24 soon, and i had my first cigarette around age 16. everyone in my family smokes fairly heavily, so cigarettes weren't hard to come by. i started pinching cigarettes around the time i started sneaking various substances kept on hand. i was a gymnast for 13 years, a competitive gymnast for 5 years, and also a certified coach for 5 years. i've had 3/4 grandparents suffer from lung cancer. i've been locked in many an airtight space exposed to second hand smoke. so i was a little slower in picking up the habit than some people, especially among my friends.
by the time i was legally able to buy cigarettes, it wasn't long before cigarette smoking was an ongoing habit. i got to the point where i would smoke 50g of drum every 4 days, and i definitely have suffered for it.
i have long accepted i am not invincible, mostly by pushing myself to the limit. so vaping is one of many steps i've taken in making wiser health choices, in addition to just settling down overall.
ya. :)

First started vaping at 2008 when the only type of e-cig that was out was the 3 piece kits. Hated carts and the performance of the kit I bought at the mall. So, I went back to smoking for a few years until now.

Anyways, I started smoking cigarettes when I was 10 years old and was a PAD smoker for 13 years.

I just turned 28 this week. I was a 2 PAD smoker. I started around 15. I didn't plan on quitting even though my doctors needed me too. I tried my first e-cig ( never light again) 2 years ago. It leaked juice so I quit vaping and smoked more. In February 2011 I found out I had a severe back condition called Spondylolisthesis grade 4. I now have a team of doctors who told me smoking makes it worse and I do need surgery and will have to have 3 months at least of not smoking before I could. I also know a fusion may not take if I smoke. So now almost 2 months anolog free. I won't be having surgery yet but know that I could if I need to anytime now

He let me take a few pulls and the next day I was getting one for me and the ol lady.that was about a half year or more ago and since iv not had a analog at all. Vaping was to get my health back and is on its way..

I'm 27 and have smoked on and off since 17 at varying levels. I started smoking socially, maybe a pack a week, then gradually increased to a pack a day. Sometimes more sometimes less. I started vaping a year and a half ago when my boss at the time bought me an ego kit. I pretty much stopped smoking altogether in the first week and haven't looked back. I owe her my life! I never really enjoyed smoking, or at least not anywhere near as much as I enjoy vaping. I had quit once for about 2 years with little trouble but still had a cigarette like once a week or so when out with friends. I had heard about e-cigs for a few years and was always interested but never had the chance to try one. Once I got that ego kit and some decent juices I knew this was for me. Now I have converted a few people and talk to everyone I can about how amazing vaping is!

...wellll, I'm 58 and had been smoking 2-3ppd since I was 17...I started researching vaping at the request of my wife, because her employer (a hospital) was becoming militant about smokers and 2nd/3rd hand smoke...I also wanted to improve my health(congestion/smokers hack) and since we were spending around 500bux/mos(3 of us in house), to save some money...I havvta say, all 3 reasons have been more than adequately met by vaping and there is no going back...I think you find a lot of older smokers are interested because we have a lifetime of experience with the effects of smoking...it seems a lot of younger folks with their first kids are also interested...younger w/no kids still think they are invincible and prefer to smoke...that's my take anyway..........

53, I attend a state college and in Nov.2011 a fellow student had a cherry flavored 808 he was vaping. So I asked him if I could try it. It was an automatic and after I took a "drag" I thought to myself, I could Quit smoking with these. I hadn't heard too much about vaping, just saw the disposables at checkout counters. Well anyway, I went home that night and googled E cigarettes and ordered an 808 starter kit. Two days later the kit arrived and I haven't had an analog since. After smoking non stop for 40 years half to a pack a day, that is nothing short of amazing. Dripping a nutty flavored juice with my Ego now and looking forward to this wonderful vaping ride:vapor:

28, started smoking @ 11, by the time i was 16 i was noted for smoking a lot. I was smoking 20 a day @ 16 and that went up to 40 by the time i packed up.

It was friday 30th december 2011, i asked my mother in law to pick me 24 royals (UK Brand, 24 cigs in a pack) from the shop this was at 11am, by 5pm i had 2 cigs left so had smoked 22 cigs in the space of 6 hours, well do the math, thats.....3.8 (ish) cigs an hour!?! Crazy, anyways, by 6pm i was panting, wheezing and my chest felt awful, i have had a wheeze in my chest at night for the last 12 months and put this down to smoking.

Anyways i decided to give up and not smoke at all, i had been given a really OLD e-cig from my mom about 6 months ago to try and cut down, didnt work and i hated it.The following day i went out and brought an 'E-lite' from my local shopping center, loved it, it was amazing and kept me off the analogs since. I done some reading and read some reviews and joined a forum and since spent a lot of money on PVs! :D

Thanks
Eddy

I'm 21 and have been smoking a PAD since 15, and 2 PAD and up since 19. I started vaping because of the curiosity behind the whole thing (first kit was a RN4081-Njoy Npro).

I bought that and didn't mind it and bought some knock off KR kits later on. I didn't quit smoking from that though and went back to analogs. My cousin had the intention to quit months later and bought a Volcano Inferno kit and I was back in the loop.

Found this site and bought a KGO and here I am a few months later with my Provari, analog free. Quitting cause my gf hates the smell I used to have from analogs and because my lungs feel so much better not taking in 40 cigarettes every day.

I will turn 47 years old this year. Stupid me started smoking when I was 22! 1-1/2 -2 PAD (depending on whether I was off work or not). You'd think I would have known better - or so my mom is so fond of telling me. She quit smoking herself almost 30 years ago, by the way - with the help of a hypnotist! :) Anyway, started researching e-cigs when I went to the doctor this past May with an irregular heartbeat - I was told that if I didn't quit, heart disease would almost certainly be in my near future. I didn't want to be only 46 years old with heart disease! Never in a million years thought I would be able to quit, but the day I got my first little KR808D-1 kit was the day I smoked my last cigarette. Little over a week later cut out the nicotine completely as well. Last week was my six month anniversary and I am still going strong - getting a little carried away with the mods, so I'm having trouble saving the money. But I have saved my life so who cares! I'll be a happy vaper for a very long time. Could not have done it without all the wonderful people at here at ECF.... :)

I'm 29 and started smoking when i was 13 too i was smoking a PAD by 18 and 2PAD by 25 (sometimes more) my mom was a lifelong 3 PAD smoke and when she passed away in July of 09' from emphysema complications at the age of 60, i swore i would quit (again) but i couldn't again. Then in October my son turned 4 and i couldn't stand the though of not making it to his 18th birthday, i saw this ecig thing at the local smoke shop(green smart living ecig, love their vanilla to this day still trying to match it in a liquid form) and picked 1 up with my regular carton of cigs (i didn't think it would work) i just started using it casually and eventually just lost interest in smoking altogether still have 7 packs sitting in my freezer that haven't been touched in months, and won't ever be again. The best thing is when my son tells me mommy i love how your hair smells now :D
