How would YOU regulate vaping/PVs/E-cigs if you could make the rules?

I personally think, that playing it safe to a certain point is a good idea: have it so we can do our vaping without over regulation and carry on doing what we do now, but have some rules that are fair and let us tread carefully and not step on too many ANTZ along the way.

I would regulate vaping as follows

· 18+ sales only
· Banned in some places where there may be a majority of children: as in schools and those sorts of places (although common sense should solve any issues there really)
· Pubs, clubs, restaurants and all those recreational places have the choice to allow or disallow vaping under there roof (as most do now at the moment) but no total ban under the law of the land
· Maybe advertising posters kept down to a size minimum on none vaping specialist establishments if on the High Street
· Billboard advertising I’d say there’s three options:
(1) Don’t over glamorize them (2) ban them (3) don’t have too many of them
· TV commercials for E-cigs only after the watershed
· Cinema ads for them only if the movie shown after all of the adverts is appropriate age

Well that’s what I thought up: might end up changing my mind on some of my points though :)

How about you? How would you regulate vaping?

Let the market regulate itself. I think they industry is right where it should be. Most companies are already limiting sales to 18+. Many resteraunts and private business have banned vaping on their property, and testing e-liquids are rising. I would like to see e liquids tested more thoroughly, but I don't think the government should play a part in that. Let the market place work. Those who cannot prove their liquids safe will go out of business.

IMO all ingredients SHOULD be FDA approved. BUT, a manufacturer should only need to show that they are FDA approved (not need to have them approved all over again) Compliance shoud be checked by STATE health departments. Also manufacturing plant conditions should need to meet a minumum standard, also checked/inspected by State health.
There is no need for media advertising.
A minimum age limit is appropriate.

Hardware safety should be handled by the Counsumer Protection Agency, not the FDA. (there are no tobacco products in a battery)

    * Stop calling them e-ciggs/electronic cigarettes
You know, I hear you and agree with you but the name is here to stay. It's just a marketing term used in making vaping more palatable to tobacco users contemplating the switch. I think we all called them e-cigs at first. I still do when talking about them with the unenlightened.

Just Saturday... some guy singled me out on a "smoke" break and hollered... "Hey! A fellow E-Cigger!".

So again, the name and variations are here to stay I think.

I agree with you too :)

It is just unfortunate because for those who don't know anything about vaping, they assume it is a cigarette and will make decisions solely on that information and I really do feel the name itself is the biggest nail in the coffin.

It's like starting a daycare called, "Murdered Kids Daycare! No! NO!; we won't murder your kids. Our last name is Murdered and we like to think of your kids like our kids.
