Just unwind the one on top, put it on your coiling tool and rewind it clockwise. It will work perfectly then.
Perfect. It's good to know that I'm not crazy I didn't really know that there were two different ways of winding the coil though now that I think about it it makes perfect sense. Thanks!

I should have added that if you took out a 1/2 wrap in the top coil it would still have to go in upside down because it was wound anti-clockwise. It's just easier to unwind and re-wrap it. :)

Most wrap their own coils with the Project X. It's easy peazy and the more you do it the better, and more confident, you'll get. I'm confident that after you do it a few times you'll be a pro! ;)

With your coil rod just line the bottom inside of the coil with the cutouts on the build deck. Then position your coil, using the coil rod, so the airflow is hitting it evenly on both sides.

Ava do you have a coiling kit with the different sized rods? Like so...

Making coils is a total breeze with them. You probably have the kit or one that is similar. But if not Lightning Vapes has them in-stock for a decent price. Just a thought.

Also I just wanted to thank everyone for putting up with me lol. I'm starting to grow fond of the little bugger. There's something about the look of it that I really enjoy and the quality of the build is phenomenal from what I can tell and what limited experience I have. :)

We will get your X running perfect, don't worry - if you like how it is to build it, and wick it - the rest is just tweaking. Especially since you aren't having dry hits or leaking (excuse my poetry) ;)

I also had no idea there were two ways of wrapping a coil - until I got an RTA that would only work with anti-clockwise coils. And I suck at anti-clockwise coil wrapping :D

I have an assortment of Kuro coilers I think they're called that I use if I'm having a bad time of something I really just wanted to rule out error on my part as to why I wasn't getting like doggy type flavor out of the Project X. I was kind of expecting the flavor to like hit me in the face with the pre coil but that didn't happen though I think it is better flavor I still think that is attributed to the juice I'm using. So maybe I'm expecting too much out of it or maybe it's simply a case of my expectations were really high while my expectations for the doggy were relatively low. I guess I'm pretty lucky cuz I see a lot of people talking about leakage and dry hits and even when I forgot to open the juice flow control I didn't get a dry hit

I get excellent results in the X using Lightning Vapes 36ss/26ss Single Core clapton wire and also Advanced Vape Supply 26/30 316L clapton wire. Easy to work with too. For me flavor is awesome with either (in any atty). LV is out of Florida and AVS is in Denver. Both companies sell high quality wire. They ship quick too.

Not all companies pre-built coils, or wire, are equal (trying to state that nicely). Lightning Vapes and AVS also sell pre-built coils and if you like pre-built coils I would highly recommend theirs.

Ava, just out of curiosity, have you tried a juice that you know well in the Project X?

I have a Doggy (2k16 SJMY) too. Love it. Everyone is so very different with their RTA/RDA experiences.

Yeah my 2 adv juices were the ones that lost all the flavor on the x so I tried a really strong peanut butter and jelly flavor that I've been favoring and that one fell flat as well not completely flat but flatter than usual. That's when I decided making a juice specifically for the X might be the best way LOL I guess it appreciated my offering because it certainly is better. I'm still pretty sure this is user error I just can't figure out what error maybe not so much error but just needing to tweak things a little bit differently than I do with the handful of other rta and rdas I have. I think I'll probably be able to fix it tomorrow now that I have a few other ideas. Or maybe I'll stop being such a hopeless hoarder and use some of the coilology Clapton wire that I have I only have 10 feet of it... for some reason that just does not seem like much even though I imagine it's quite a lot. I probably will try out some lightning Vapes or at least look at their website I'm a Florida girl and I would love to purchase things from a Florida business thanks for the recommendation

@AvaOrchid, what are you using for wicking?

As if you're using Rayon, it does shrink when wet. Then it doesn't make good contact with the coil and flavour drops off.

Cotton is the opposite and swells when wet, so if you use a little too much it impedes liquid flow and then flavour drops off. But it will also start to singe as well.

Hopefully you'll get it sussed eventually.

Also I've found you can get a good vape from 26 AWG and 27 AWG round wire (6 evenly spaced wraps with a 3mm ID).

I use cotton mainly because it's what I'm used to but I did use rayon once and that was my second best attempt. That's one thing I haven't tried I haven't tried changing the internal diameter.

@AvaOrchid - I’m watching your trials and tribulations with interest.

Like you, I haven’t been able to get great flavor out of the X. The best I’ve been able to get is “ok” flavor, so I’ve put it aside for now. To be fair, I think I just lost interest after a few builds, all of which gave me a very smooth draw with muted flavor.

I’ll give it another go eventually, but as of now I’m thinking that the X may be made for a different style of vaping than what I’m accustomed to (e.g. higher wattage, exotic coils, non-TC modes, etcetera).

Maybe I’ll get inspired once @stols001 gets in the game. :)

Wow. At that price I’m tempted to buy a V4 set just to get the orange storage block! ;)

At the same place 100' of Kanthal wire cost just $4.25:thumb:
Huh? I was talking about the Coil Master jig set.

Tbh, I bought a couple of spools of wire from Lightning Vapes a while back, but I wouldn’t buy more wire from them going forward. The white spools the wire came on were so thin and brittle that the spool lips started cracking off soon after I received them. There’s currently barely enough lip left on the spools to hold the remaining wire on. Luckily, I don’t use those wire types/gauges much these days.

TemCo is now my preferred vendor for spooled round wire. Nice hard, durable spools and free shipping - last I ordered anyway.

Well, I need wire not a spool... usually I cut wire into 6" strips and place those strips in small plastic tubes... I have a couple spools that are not brittle but wire unwind so spools are useless for me anyway. I still think that $4.25 for hundred feet of kanthal is pretty good deal even if spools brake. Yes I ordered that Coil Master jig set and added spool of wire.:)

Yep. If I don't break it on my first dry run. That's always POSSIBLE. LOL.

    Anna

I do not think you will break it... unless you will try access deck without securing X on mod or stand. One thing to remember is that to pull out top cup (to access filling hole)... or pulling tank off from deck... X must be screwed to mod or any stand... pulling tank from deck is close to impossible by holding just RTA.:)
