This Yankee has plenty of his own firearms. :D I love BBQ too.... Butchered a few pigs about a month ago with a friend of mine and have a half of one in the freezer. I've got special plans for the shoulder.

You'd probably fit right in here then...guns and pork! Me...I'm originally from Texas, so it's beef BBQ for me...but I eat the pork too...LOL!

Looks really good PKZ! I'm trying to figure out how that's diff from the 510-510 connector though, if you grind off the threads and taper it down? I was really pumped to see the ego-adapter cause it was pre-threaded and all I'd have to do is match the threads and tap out the delrin cap to match, which would allow for totally breaking down the unit for cleaning, plus I'd have some adjustment of the CE2 height in the tank, due to inconsistencies with manufacturing.

I also agree with using drill press or bench grinder as cheap version of a lathe. I also do mostly woodworking, so have tons of spade bits and also handy for making indented areas are Forstner bits, because they leave a flat-flush bottom. Most of this can indeed be done without a lathe, but it takes a lot more time and ingenuity...LOL!

I had a couple of issues with the 510~510 Modder’s Connector; the issue with the center section, having to cut a slot for air flow, which I know you accomplished by using a hack saw. With the 510~eGo adapter I was able to just flip the insides center pieces around to get air flow. The other issue was the 510~510 Modder’s Connector being somewhat shorter, however the shorter adapter issue could be dealt with as discussed earlier.

The only 510~eGo adapter that I had was the one with the fine threads, I just wanted to see if I could get it to work and in case other members wanted to do it this way, as we both felt the larger threaded adapter is best used for the threaded application in the delrin cap.

I have two of the 510~eGo adapters with the larger threads arriving tomorrow. I purchased an additional MAP tank as a back-up, which arrived today. I can now take a chance on trying another MAP tank modification with being able to thread the 510~eGo adapters with the larger threads into the delrin cap. However, the first step with this adapter will be to check out the air flow issue.

BTW wolflrv, great observation with the ability of the threaded adapter being able to adjust for the height of the CE2.

I thought if you paid for a machine shop course that you could make you own project (e-cig) for part of your grade.

You could call ahead and ask if they let you make your own project, or you whether you get to only make what projects they say.

Once you get in, you may even be able to tinker around making other stuff, after class or whenever.

Will be interesting to see how the threading works and also the airflow of course. I'd love an out-of-the-box solution that only requires minor modifications vs having to drill and tap my own custom fitting. I had always envisioned the threaded fitting so that it could easily be removed for cleaning and also due to the standard CE2's having a slight variance in height at times(which is why MAP doesn't want to make the mini-tanks). Plus it will allow adjustment for clearance on some recessed atty wells on some mods.

I'm just hoping to get out in the shop soon. It was a great day today..sunshine and only around 70 degrees, but my dental issues left me with a nasty migraine. I'm in the process of having 4-6 teeth pulled at a time...3 rounds of it. Getting them all pulled for full set of dentures. I've been suffering with this for about 3 yrs now, which is why I started vaping in the first place. I wanted to lower my BP so I could get the surgery done all at once, but that hasn't happened the way I planned it..but it's almost over with now. About another month of suffering and it will all be over and then I should be able to think clearly enough and be out of pain, so I can concentrate while operating power tools...LOL! In the meantime, I'm having a blast brainstorming all this and we should have a rock solid mod when it's done!

yep..I could definitely do that...trick is, it'd take 2 yrs to complete the course and I'd be standing on concrete 8-10 hrs a day and I'm 50 yrs old and partially disabled after brain surgery 10yrs ago. It would be brutal at best. I could probably get some relief on sitting some during the day..but there are few chairs on the floor. I hang out there a couple hrs at a time and that's about the limit I can stand at this point. I'd be more likely to order the HF mini-lathe and just get my buddy to come show me how to set it up and run it...but then again..there's the money for the lathe...and a place to put it in my shop too. Right now I have a woodworking shop that has been taken over by a motorcycle restoration and it's also mowing season so the yard tools are getting pulled out and used...my shop is a bloody mess atm...LOL! Too many projects...not enough time!

I figured that was the reason MAP didn't want to make the mini MAP tanks also.

The issues I’m facing is finding my thread gauge, seeing if I have the right taps... etc. etc. If I don't have everything I need, I run into delays having to get what I need to be able to do it properly or figuring out how to make it work with what I have, which is the fun part. :D

I Hope for the best outcome with your dental issue and that you’re feeling better soon. Yep, you shouldn’t be running them power tools on the pain meds. Although, being on certain pain meds isn’t too bad once in a while. However, it all comes down to why you were prescribed pain meds to begin with. :D

The Avid Vaper 510~eGo adapters, that I just ordered now have the fine threads that will fit the traditional eGo cone. :(

It looks like Avid Vaper changed the description for these adapters on their website. Currently the description for these adapters has no reference of the threads being different than the traditional eGo cone. However, it did state that the threads are different when I purchased mine, and the picture on the website still shows the different, larger threaded adapter.

The Avid Vaper 510~eGo adapter is different from the other two 510~eGo adapters that I have (which I ordered from two different vendors) in that;

The two-piece, center section pieces do not have holes through the center of them for air flow.

This adapter has a large flat plate ring machined around it that seats up against the vent notches which are located in the bottom edge of the eGo-T atomizer.

Other slight differences exist, however I felt no need to explain them all.

Adapter on Left = Avid Vaper - Adapter on Right = from other vendors

I just want to do anything I can to keep from having to pop the caps off these maptanks. My hands are bad and I'm just barely able to get them off and I'm chewing them up using a screwdriver as a prybar.

If I could ever find someone to turn some delrin plugs for me, I had a thought on a variation of the gummy tank. The top plug should be large enough, diameter wise, to drill a hole parallel to the hole for the drip tip. Hole would be big enough for a large gage needle ( my only gripe with filling with a needle was the gage was to small for anything but the thinnest of juices ). Wouldn't have to take anything apart except to change or clean the CE2.

Couple this with the adapter mod and it would eliminate most of my gripes with the map tank concept.

PKZ...so which one do you like better then?? I know the price on the AvidVapers is a bit too high, but having the "ledge" around the bottom would create a stop for screwing it into the cap. However, it might also prevent height adjustment too as we discussed. Also the thread gauge seems to be the same as 510 thread, only larger diameter? Is that accurate? That would mean it's .5mm and just need the overall diameter then.

Ok, I really need to find o-rings and plastic tubing for extras of my mini map...I saw the post for the place to get tubing but what size and what material? there are so many to choose from...

I measured the O-Ring for the MAP tank and the size is; AS568A Dash Number 013.

AS568A Dash No. O-Ring Sizing Chart

Measurement are; ID: 7/16" x OD: 9/16" x Width: 1/16"

O-Rings and the Polycarbonate tubing for the MAP tank can both be purchased from McMaster-Carr.

Here is a link which discusses what material and hardness of the O-Ring is best used as applied to the MAP tank and e-cig MODs

http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/modders-forum/183049-o-ring-material-e-cig-mod.html

Edit to add:

The bolded Information in the following post pertains to the O-Ring used between the adapter and the CE2 as applied to the GP-SSR.

Mine didn't come with or I somehow lost the O-ring on the bottom of the CE2 and leaked like mad when I first filled it up. After a few emails with Rob I went to Lowes and bought a pack of #47 O-rings and put one on there and tightened it up finger tight then just snugged it up very little with a pair of needle nose pliers and It hasn't leaked a drop since. I have shaken it turned it upside down and even fell asleep last night with it in my bed a woke up rolling around on it not a drop leaked.
I have a 2.4 CE2 in mine and it hits pretty hard and makes lots of vapor on my Megalodon with an 18650 I really like it!

Good job Rob and thanks for your help getting me set up with it.
