Please ask another question about batteries. Please.

That way I don't have to defend why I use disposable cartos.

I use disposable 510 atomizers---HH357 3.0 ohm Custom Long Barrels...@ $25 apiece you know I get a lot of flak from the rba crowd...Yes I am a direct dripper and love the small form factor/performance that the HH delivers..... Expensive vs. an rba? I guess but I am willing to pay the big bucks.....get real here its only $25 on average once a month for a fresh start....

Maybe I'm missing something, but last I did anything with MOSFETs, they didn't like having their Drain-Source Voltage reversed at all; in fact they almost always have a protective diode in 'em that will shunt the current that would result from a reversed Drain-Source Voltage around the actual transistor. So how does that help? Note: Yes, I'm rusty at this stuff.

Nope it is fine. Its the voltage on the gate relative to the source that determines whether the FET is turned on or not. In normal operation its just basically open current from drain to source, with a small voltage drop due to internal resistance. If you flip the voltages, it turns the FET off because Vgs goes below the threshold voltage. Voila!!

EDIT : While you are correct that a diode across the Drain/Source can protect the FET..when the FET is on, it essentially shorts the terminals of the diode and provides minimal drop in voltage due to the drain->source resistance.

I have learned a ton of great info from this thread, From both sides of the coin. Also learned a bit about this forum board in the process.
It's just a matter of sifting through what is presented. A thread like this also can reveal to someone a kind of "who's who" if new around these parts.
We get 2,000 P.M.'s here, Wow! That is awesome. Another forum I am active on only gives 100 to certain levels of paying members.
Technical aspects of various devices were presented, and things I didn't even think to consider before about certain devices became clearer to me.
Sure, there was some poking the nest posts, but by actually following the whole thread, I was able to highlight unfamiliar terms, right click them, and google search to gain more knowledge.
I thank You, to all who presented good info here, this was a fun read :)

So true and good observations... I'm also a member of an Astronomy forum so I already knew that certain personalities don't mesh well but I was caught off guard a bit by how intense it was starting to get. I did take note of who the peacemakers were(blessed be the peacemakers) and who the troublemakers were;). I learned at least one new term I thought was funny, - Chump Edit: Editing a post to make it seem more polite/benign after eliciting an overly emotional response - making the respondent appear crazier than he/she may actually be..:D

Always quote the poster. Always. That is step 11 of the 14 (fictitious) steps to winning an internet argument.

 The chump edit works the other way, too. A bland response can be made to look more threatening by adding an edit notification. The readers assumes the original post was more heartfelt when it really wasn't.

I win! Did I win a ProVari? lol

Funny seeing Slash and Ozzy here with discussions of Field Effect Transistors and diodes. Feels like I'm time-tripping in some dream back in high school electronics class, waiting to get out so I could listen to my Ozzy and Slash albums.

I don't dislike a Provari. From what I have seen they are a real nice unit.
I just get a big laugh out of guys that think it's the only way to go.

I've seen lots of people say they love their Provaris and recommend them to other people, but I have never seen anyone insist it's the only way to go...? Do you have examples of this? Because if it's as ubiquitous as you make it sound, they must be everywhere and I'm just missing it.

Oh, you are just being a Fanboy...or is it Fanboi?

Whatever it is, that is what you are being, and you know it.

In the immortal words of TheVaporKing, "Folks I've said it before and I'll say it again. Provari. RBAs. Otherwise do yourself a favor and stick with analogs because you are wasting your time and you are wasting the vaping communities time."

Wow....Spelled backwards, that's Wow..... Hard to believe folks who think like this live.....I'm glad the Vapor King is out there thinking for me. Makes it much easier for me not to have to do it myself....

The "farm to vaping movement" and "organic free range juice" comments should have been your first clue that it's tongue in cheek...

Speaking as a user of both ProVari and RBAs, I understand your sentiment. It is unfair to say that you are wasting your time or the vaping communities time...

...some might argue that you are not optimizing it.
