First time I've seen this thread and looks like all the "great" vaping adventures have been mentioned with the exception of two. I even did a search on the thread and can't believe neither one of these were mentioned.

I have a Drip on Demand and it works very well on my RDAs. A simple squeeze to re-drip makes the RDA very easy to use, and the long tube for the drip tip cools the vape on a low resistance 1.0Ω coil build.

Some of the old stuff still functions very well connected to some of the latest gear.

I still have my original Copper. The one that you held the cart in your teeth and pushed the device in toward your mouth to activate the switch. Needs a cleaning but should still work lol. I also remember the GG. My worst memory is from trying DIY juice the first time and using peppermint oil... I thought I was gonna die...

Oh god! Peppermint oil was my first attempt at DIY. I thought my head would explode.

I still remember building early box mods...parts from radio shack
I remember Bugging TI for their "voltage booster" chips
I remember my snus tin mod...probably still have the gutted case for it somewhere around here.
I remember fiddling around with tubing and bottles and glue guns to try and create a bottom fed cartomizer. (worked pretty well, but gah...that reo. Tasty)
Blue foam, Zero filler, and smoking everywhere oh my!
I still have 14500 batteries sitting on my desk and in my parts bin from my old homebuilt mods.
I DON'T remember what my last idea was for building a mod...or I'd be building and selling it. (lot more tech knowledge now than then)

It all seems so long ago, yet it was only a few years.

I still have a few PTN04050C and PTR08100W chips sitting in a box. I've been thinking of building a 5V single battery hybrid mod at some point, but haven't ever gotten around to it.

Me too... I bet I've still got the old diagram for wiring those beasties lying around somewhere on this computer too.
Wonder if they're anything close to what's going in to those DNA and other high boost devices...or if they'd even really be worth using these days.

Oh the DNA's are WAY more complex, with monitoring tech to adapt the output according to resistance... As far as being worth using these days, I'd say that's subjective. As a new "thing", yea totally nonsense. Personally though, they are perfectly capable of outputting what I need to vape(12W), so I would definitely find them usable.

Vaping wise I remember when the newest biggest baddest game changer was blue foam filled carto's.
What I remember most about them was when you got a big hit of burnt blue foam and they sat there afterwords with no power going to them smoking and giving off the aroma of burning styrofoam until you tossed them outside or dunked them in water.

So why don't some of us old-timers reminisce a little bit about how it used to be....

--I remember when new members would be struggling constantly trying to find the path to a satisfying vape
--I remember when the 510 came on the scene, with a somewhat lower resistance atomizer, and new vapers started having increased success
--I remember when 510 cartridge mods were all the rage, as folks kept trying to find a good way to continue getting those consistently good vapes
--I remember when the KR808D came on the scene, and cartomizers started pushing new vaper success rates even higher
--I remember the ensuing 510 vs KR808D wars
--I remember the Boge Cartomizers for the 510 models that may well have turned the tide towards 510 models
--I remember when low-resistance (LR) atomizers came on the scene and the ability to vary your "power" became a reality
--I remember the FDA court case, and the formation of CASAA from members on this very forum
--I remember when CASAA started working closely with long-time harm-reduction advocates, thus giving long-time THR advocates new life and consumer backing
--I remember when the Chuck came out with custom graphics
--I remember the Chuck vs Silver Bullet wars
--I remember when the Reo Mods came out, and took dripping to a whole new level
--I remember when Egos came out and new vaper success started to skyrocket
--I remember the Buzz, which if I remember correctly, started the variable voltage revolution
--I remember when the Provari came out and started the variable voltage wars
--I remember when the Nhaler came out with the Darwin and started the variable wattage vs variable voltage wars

And I look at that the New Members sub-forum these days, and find very few struggling at first vape anymore.
Success, now, is nearly guaranteed.

That's progress.
:)

What do you all remember?

Did you used to vape 15 miles in the snow, uphill, every day too?
