So why don't some of us old-timers reminisce a little bit about how it used to be....

--I remember when new members would be struggling constantly trying to find the path to a satisfying vape
--I remember when the 510 came on the scene, with a somewhat lower resistance atomizer, and new vapers started having increased success
--I remember when 510 cartridge mods were all the rage, as folks kept trying to find a good way to continue getting those consistently good vapes
--I remember when the KR808D came on the scene, and cartomizers started pushing new vaper success rates even higher
--I remember the ensuing 510 vs KR808D wars
--I remember the Boge Cartomizers for the 510 models that may well have turned the tide towards 510 models
--I remember when low-resistance (LR) atomizers came on the scene and the ability to vary your "power" became a reality
--I remember the FDA court case, and the formation of CASAA from members on this very forum
--I remember when CASAA started working closely with long-time harm-reduction advocates, thus giving long-time THR advocates new life and consumer backing
--I remember when the Chuck came out with custom graphics
--I remember the Chuck vs Silver Bullet wars
--I remember when the Reo mods came out, and took dripping to a whole new level
--I remember when Egos came out and new vaper success started to skyrocket
--I remember the Buzz, which if I remember correctly, started the variable voltage revolution
--I remember when the Provari came out and started the variable voltage wars
--I remember when the Nhaler came out with the Darwin and started the variable wattage vs variable voltage wars

And I look at that the New Members sub-forum these days, and find very few struggling at first vape anymore.
Success, now, is nearly guaranteed.

That's progress.
:)

What do you all remember?

How little those 901 attys lasted... Filling the KR808D cartos in series with the spin method (the condom method came much later). Blowing my desktop power unit from vaping with a passthrough! jaja back at the time (mid 2010) I stopped vaping because it became WAY too expensive for me...

Other Places
I remember,
Having to ask WTH a Chuck was!
The 6v vs. 7.2v wars.
Spending one night a week cleaning out cartomizer's.
Spending another night the same week, after they'd dried, filling carto's.
Being so happy I could get four hours out of my MM AND being able to drop it and have it still work!
Having Skype chat's with Leoford while he was in China trying to fix QC problems.
Being a Provert on the V4L chat board!

Chuck? WTH is that? Oh wait, I think I have one...somewhere in my stash. They weren't vented either...another thing that wasn't a huge concern back in the day..ventilation for batteries.

6V wars...yep, got into a lot of heated discussions on that one. I still stack batts.

Have you all seen that Puresmoker has recently closed shop?

Yes and I bought too much stuff...LOL

Yes, and not really happy or understanding the circumstances.

They are opening a B&M from the rumors going around on Facebook.

    Somewhere between here and there
I remember when the prodigy v1 and the screwdriver were the only mods.

I remember when nicowolf posted instructions on how to build a box mod and I made my first one.

I remember getting ...... off that I couldn't get my 801 carts to wick even with the straw mod.

Lol, I remember you folks were just finishing up on the topic of the best atty cleaners when I began. I think the blue Crest type won out??
It was Crest Pro-Health, and I actually still use it today thanks to this forum.
But I don't use it for cleaning atomizers, just for gargling.

Dry burning and plain old water is how I clean my atomizers these days.

I remember settling with an omega or alpha or bottom fed woodimus thingy and falling out of the vapeworld scene thinking I was set only needing juice & cartos & the occasional new replacement batt only to step back in a year or so later and discovered provaris and checked back out for a year and then back in to find even more significant changes, RBAs etc., MUCH better juice & devices etc. Each time I stepped back in dropping hundreds and hundreds more.

That said, I should probably throw a trash bag's worth of really old (2-4yr) terrible juice out. Oh, and I have a double barrel SB top too I ought to donate to a vape museum.

    All up in your grill..
I remember ads from Njoy all over the place.

I remember when Trogg popped up with the first mod/apv.

I remember 1/3rd of the mod staff defecting.

I remember when people started calling them "PV's" and ecf endorsed it.

I remember reading every single post in that insanely long court case thread. (Is Sun still around?)

I remember when Angus was the forum manager.

I remember when The ECA was thought to be the future savior of our industry and then they just bounced. Man it must have sucked to be one of those vendors contributing thousands in membership dues every month. No bang for your buck there eh?

I remember the big debate over what to call CASAA.

I remember a bunch of other stuff too but won't mention it so I don't get pwnd..

I remember deciding which cigalike to "upgrade" to, and I still chose the wrong one, lol.

I remember the chuck and the silver bullet being the "next big thing", I spent 3 weeks debating on which one to get before going with the silver bullet (and bb), simply because it shipped immediately.

    Double barrel attys were awesome.

People cannibalizing their old cigalikes to build custom "high power" mods (I personally built me a killer USB mod... but ran out of atomizers, lol.

Unfortunately I quit vaping for a while... tanks were just barely making their way in to the market, vv / vw were non existent... I felt like a complete newb again when I decided it was time to quit analogs for good.

oh, and let's not forget the straw mod in a cart to help the juice hit the atty.

Oh hairball, how bout the screw mod!!! :D

    (yes, I tried it.)

I remember when logging on to ECF, the 'users online' in the New Members forum averaged about 50. Now it's well over 100 most of the time.

I remember making a drip tip by drilling out a 510 cart (drip tips were a bit spendy for me back then).

I remember making a lanyard for my Riva, fashioned from the middle finger of an old pair of leather gloves.

I remember Old Goat Box Mods.

You HAD a drip tip? I thought THIS was a drip tip.

And I had an Old Goat mod too... oh boy oh boy.

Lol, I remember you folks were just finishing up on the topic of the best atty cleaners when I began. I think the blue Crest type won out??

    Not the Polident packs?

Dat and then da APV debate/debacle!

As a refreshing side note: What a joy to see many ol' timers (sum o' my vapin' heroes) gatherin' in one thread!!!

And here's to those that have preceded us and now providing their astral vapor clouds for our earthly enjoyment!
