On anniversaries everyone ought use their starter kits for one day:) 4081's are still available. As a younger vet, I certainly will NOT be having fun with an atty/cart combo.

And I won't be spending $60 on an njoy Npro. Thanks anyway. I did like those 4081 attys though. I even got a couple of free replacements. The 401 was my favorite. Closer to the size of a cigarette. Tiny ... fiddly carts though. That's how I only used 3 ml a day.
The 901 leaked all over, the 801 was just a waste of liquid since it wouldn't feed right, yeah and I did the straw mod...

As bad as they were, we made them work. It gave us something to think about besides smoking I guess.

^ don't know why but I gravitated to the 901's... remember how Rob at Reo sent an oring to go around the barrel just under the air hole on the side for leaks?
Yep 901 LR 1.7 ohms seemed to be consistent and flavorful... 2 to 3 drops no more :)
Used to buy in 5 paks from VK

LR attys (including Hanna's 357 901's) lasted me about 2 weeks.

Re: starter kits... I have blanked out that memory.
One of the most frustrating nudges back to smoking there is; waiting 3 to 5 hours for a cigalike to charge and then work for 45min. to an hour!

Vaping has certainly come a LONG way in a short period of time. When I have some spare time I would like to read this entire thread, its very informative for a new vaper.

Admin closed many threads but didn't delete them, the old stuff is still on ECF. Ask the stressed out servers...........:)

I've only been around the forums for about a year, but I grabbed my first Volcano Magma kit back in 2010. Bought up all kinds of flavor cartridges and a few attys. Wasn't very successful in quitting smoking - hated that I was constantly recharging the batteries. Year later, I "refreshed" my stash of cartridges (sucker for a huge sale) and was massively disappointed that the "filler" was ... wait for it ... BLUE FOAM. I thought it made the juice taste DISGUSTING. Fast forward to a year ago.... Got all "excited" about "carts"?????? I could fill them myself with .... BOTTLED JUICE.

I STILL hadn't found ECF yet..... Thankfully, I finally did "find my way". I still feel somewhat noobish around here, but the lightspeed at which I feel vaping has changed in just the past 12 months has been astonishing. But thanks to these hallowed halls, I've quit smoking, learned to build coils, make my own juice, find a new hobby (and spend LOTS of money!)

Thank you to you vets who have ever-so-gently paved the way and guided us newer folks....

Dang it - can't find 'em. I think I pitched them all because they were so gnarly, and I have better stuff now. It looked like a tiny foam paintbrush tip that had the liquid soaked in it. I preferred the prior cartridges because they were sealed with foil that got punctured when installed on the atty. Those I have a bazooka-load of sitting in a box in my vape desk....

Haven't read through the 100+ thread but same as you OP.
I remember going to the pet shop to pick up blue foam for my 510.
I remember $15 attys you direct drop on the wick bridge.
    I remember attys vs cartomizers.
Punching cartos with a $5 thingamajig from Home Depot.
    Provari craze.
Struggling with building in a Genesis tank and getting frustrated and selling it.
First mechanical mod and how the inside parts got rusted from not maintaining it.
    VW vs VV.
