You could always give me a detailed explanation of what your trying to do in a PM and I can draw up a sample. Then you could mark it up with changes etc until we get it right on paper before you touch a part.

I can do all the interference and fitment checks here as well. Always more than willing to help out the GG family with things like this ;)

Sure, I can do that. I'll PM you the details :)

Here is a very crude prototype of my Connectors. Believe it or not, I made them out of the metal of a Pepsi-Cola can. Take into consideration that the metal I used is thinner than I would like and is Aluminum instead of either SS or Nickel plated brass.

The tie off of the Wires is very rough as by the time I got to this point, my Carpal Tunnel was in full force and I couldn't feel anything with my fingers. Also please excuse the dirty appearance of the components, I had all of them rolling around my desk before I put it together to check everything. Once my hands calmed back down, I did a proper cleaning and reassembled it. Vapes very well and no issues yet.

This did not add any resistance to the assembly and so far not one sign of any leaks!!

Sorry to be a bit thick !! but will this mod mean that you will only need the one wire ie non resis.........if so it looks great.

Mine still uses a short length of NR wire but you do not have to run it don to the threads of the plastic pieces. Makes it so you do not have to take the whole thing apart and risk messing up the threads

Just so you know... if you have an IATTY... There is a cheaper source for the ceramic cup that is used in it. The exact same cup is used the CE2 Clearomizers and Cartomizers at the top of the steel post. It is encased in that black nylon at the top of the post. So buy yourself a pack of CE2s... use them up and then take the ceramic cup out for your IATTY.

Hi lord, spill the beans then :)

OK, you wanted more, here it is. :)

Insert an 18 ga blunt needle and cut it so it's the same height as the ceramic and flush with the bottom of the top cap (the needle should be extremely close to or touching the ceramic).

Take a length of NR wire and wrap it around the post of the top cap where it would normally go, inserting both ends of the wire into the needle mark or note exactly where the length will be correct for going around the post once and getting into the needle so it can be soldered into place.

Flux and tin the silver wire and inside of the needle with silver bearing solder and then solder the 2 together sealing the hole and attaching the wire to the pin permanently, now install it. to the top plastic.

Now fit another 18ga needle on the opposite end of the ceramic, be sure that this one is also very close to or touching the ceramic.

Bend the 2nd needle out just enough to allow you to screw the top and bottom plastics together then cut the needle to length (it should go from the bottom of the lower plastic to the top of the ceramic).

Make another NR wire now to go around the bottom plastic post and into the 2nd needle making sure that you have bent the needle to be inside the notches on the lower plastic.

Remove the needle and wire, tin the wire and needle then solder like the first one (make this one a little looser around the bottom post to make re-assembly easier).

Install it into the top plastic, screw the plastics together as tight as you can being careful not to cut the NR wire then loop the wire around the bottom post.

Screw the whole assembly to the bottom SS part of the iAtty, these connections should be permanent, but removable if needed.

Test fit the top cone and file the outside of the needles as needed to get the cone to fit completely and not touch the needles (it should not really need any filing, but check anyway to be sure).

Get a bit of 18ga silver wire and make 2 small pins out of them.

Wrap a coil/wick with just the resistance wire measuring to whatever you prefer keeping enough extra on either side to put the wire into the new needles we just made.

Insert the coil/mesh assembly into the ceramic placing each end of the wire into a different needle.

Secure the wires with the silver pins we just made.

Put the cone on, fill it with juice and enjoy your iAtty with no more need to use NR wire.

Have fun and happy modding to you all :)

Pics will go up once I put it together.

I recomend Stainless Steel crimp beads 1mmx1mm to 1.5mmx1.5mm easy clean and perfect...

Yeap, I use the crimp beads but want to try other methods also. The beads are so tiny that some times are difficult to manage. Each time I want to make a coil I lost at least one bead, they are like jumping frijoles. :)

i currently use the 1mmx1mm crimps. They work very well and hold the connection for a very long time. The issue is for those that have difficulty working with very small items thee could be very troublesome.

This is why I am trying to find something that can remove the NR wire completely while making the iAtty more user friendly. I have not given up on this idea, the first idea was good, but not right as it is no good to make something that will make the device prone to breakage. I just have to go back to the "drawing board' and think of something else to get the desired result :)
