I spent an hour yesterday trying to convince my friend to switch to vaping but he wouldn’t budge his opinion is that it can’t be safer then analogs or the government would let you do as you wish in regards to advertising.(but he likes the taste of vape)
Can you believe this?.. Over 4000 chemicals in anologs and he is worried about vg juice I’m shocked!
i think the big smoke companies have really brainwashed him.

I don't know what's more scary. Being stupid enough to believe the government after all of the glaringly harmful things they've done. Being ignorant enough to believe that a combustion cigarette is safer than vaporized nicotine with one or two other harmless chemicals.

See if this YouTube - Modern Marvels : Tobacco lights up a couple of brain cells for that clown!
Tell him that anything they find in the vapor is in cigarettes in much higher concentrations, any way.

Or just stop wasting your time.
Natural selection went out of style a long time ago and people like that are the result of it. Our government is another fine product of its absence.

I understand completely! A friend has 3 kits and a bunch of juice just in case they need something after they quit analogs, but won't use it to get off analogs. Does not want to replace a habit, but is still buying packs at the local store. But won't sell any of their hardware just in case. I don't get it either, but different strokes I guess.

Somewhere in time.
LOL-I hate to say it, but as much good as I hear from people this isn't uncommon. I have a semi-close friend at work who has been trying to quit cold turkey for almost two mionths.........He told me yesterday that he would never trust ecigs.

Why you ask?

Because he is afraid he could drown from the water vapor in them...........

I don't even know what to say to that. So I looked at Ron and pointed out that fog was water vapor-and my spa gave off water vapor. Then I wandered off-dazed. Of all the things to be afraid of, that was the last one I ever thought I'd hear.

Sometimes people just don't want to switch. I am of the opinion that we should simply respect that and not preach the gospel of vape. If your friend decides vaping is for him, he will do that. Consider yourself being accosted for an hour about the dangers of vaping by a rabid anti-smoker/vaper. What would your reaction be?

You can lead a horse to water....

Information is out there, if people are ignorant at this point it's because they want to be ignorant. You did a good deed by trying to convince your friend but now it's time to just back off. Maybe he'll come around when he notices the positives that vaping has brought to your life but right now it's on him. If he doesn't want to, he doesn't want to. So be it.

This. We were all hiding from the truth behind cigarettes at one point or another, and we all had to come to the decision to quit in our own time. We were afraid to give up our friend, our companion, the one constant we could always rely on, and not even the worst of the scare tactics could persuade us of the truth. Now that we've found something better, all we can do is put the info out there and hope it plants a seed at the very least. Who knows, the person that turns their nose up it today may be the one that comes to you 6 months from now asking for more information.

I certainly know how this guy feels.. trying to convince an idiot to not do something to harm itself because you like or love it.. Sigh! I've helped many people with many things and I use to try to force help on idiots.. Now I've finally learned, well, hey pal fall over the side of a bridge and get hit by a bus if you want to .. I'm too busy to try and hold someone back when they're punching themselves in the face repeatedly.

I had to learn to spend more time holding myself back from destroying my own life.. and I think things have been better since I learned to not care for people who don't care about themselves. I've noticed that I pay attention to my own advice, and appreciate myself. Not caring so much for people that I end up driving myself insane with problems that aren't supposed to be mine.

It sure is amazing the whacked out excuses you hear from smokers!! They're so very afraid of anything that challenges their addiction. Their brain thinks it's necessary for survival and I think the lower brain plays a huge part in some of the stupid nonsense you end up hearing from their upstairs brain. LoL. Like the orders are coming from the dungeon and the zombie must comply. A little scary, pretty sad and a touch comical to realize that I was one of them without ever having any idea.

Well any way from now on if someone does not truly appreciate me and do what I advise them to do, when things go to hell, they can go and fall off of a building. Ha Ha HA! It is like a 100lb weight off of my mind and chest!! From now on if someone isn't paying me, helping me as much as I am helping them, (EDIT: a couple of things removed by a second thought) or THE VERY LEAST genuinely grateful - I'm not doing :censored: for them!!! HA!!! I have been SO HAPPY since I made that new rule!!

I think I have a “better” one.

I have a friend who has been a pack per day smoker for years. He refuses to try e-cigs because he’s afraid he’ll have an allergic reaction to nicotine! He’s convinced that he’s allergic to nicotine, but that something in the KILLING IT WITH FIRE process chemically alters it allowing him to ingest it safely. Naturally, I asked him what led him to this curious conclusion. He told me that, according to his chain-smoking mother, as a toddler he had been taken to a doctor for a persistent cough and the doctor told her that he was probably allergic to nicotine… and sent him home with cold medicine.

Oh my.. That's the most infuriatingly stupid thing I've heard in some time.
Tell him not to worry "the vaporizer gets up to 350F so it'll kill all that darned nicotine".

Some people, even our friends, can be very very stupid. They can't get beyond the wiring in their brains.
It's foolish to try to convince someone who won't listen to reason. I always prove to be just foolish enough to think the next time might be different.

Agreed.
I learned that at a young age.
I made a rule against establishing new attachments or friendships when I was 12. I have three friends who are grandfathered in from before that time. One is down for 21+ years and half way through it. Should be out 2019. I don't see the other two much, but they're only still friends because they're not idiots and wouldn't turn on me if you paid them $100M. And if they took your $100M to turn on me, they'd be by to split the cash with me the next day and we'd both be laughing at ya. LoL over here.

I broke that rule about forming attachments three times.. With women.. The three best and worst decisions I've ever made. Ha ha ha

When you don't allow many people into your world .. two great things happen

1. You're instantly desirable to the opposite sex. Regardless of anything else.
2. You bypass 90% of horrible problems most people end up dealing with.

The problem I have is LOVED ONES. FAMILY. People you're stuck caring about. I've managed to narrow that down to the bone in the past few years. But I still care greatly about my parents, grandmother and my sister and brother in law. Caring about my parents and grandmother is a horrible experience. Horrible. They're like five year olds. solve all of their problems and when I am not around they cause nightmares.

You should see. I didn't come back for a couple of years one time and they charged up the credit cards, got a mortgage and all kinds of things. This last time I as gone about a year, the whole time they're on the phone telling me how good things are going, they have plenty of income, eating good, etc.. and by the time I came back to see about them they had one foot on the sidewalk. Refrigerator empty. Etc. After literally 100 hours on the phone, and probably an inch thick stack of papers and hunting ALL DAY for papers in the scattered mess of PAPERS I had everything straightened out.

Appreciation? No ... Each and every time I see one of my lady friends and make her :censored: or smile or solve the tiniest problem for her .. I see more appreciation than I have from these ...... in a lifetime.. This year I have FINALLY learned my lesson about living for people who don't live for ME.

The good news is that caring about my sister it is rewarding and a awesome experience for me. She would go to the ends of hell for me, does not act like a child, has made a good life for herself and she is an angel!!

Thanks for giving me an opportunity to rant
I don't mind ranting sometimes
I'm eccentric and old I guess

I find the tone of most of these posts to be pretty hypocritical. Until you stumbled into vaping, I presume you were smokers. Did nobody you care about tell you they were bad for you? Or did you just blithely smoke for years thinking the print on the side of a pack was the equivalent of the little note that says not to use your toaster in the bathtub? When you persisted smoking, despite everyone knowing how very bad for you it was, did everyone who cares about you just wash their hands of you, or were they accepting of this foible?

The ecig does not have any real studies behind it and the average person has heard the FDA talk about it being full of radiator fluid. In addition, they come from China, who have given us lead-painted toys and cadmium kids' jewelry. It is pretty easy to understand why someone might put it into the same category as a Dollar Store junk, magnets in the shoes, or crystals.

And, frankly, I made a vow to myself that if I was ever able to quit smoking, I would not become the hectoring boorish lecturer about how easy it was to stop smoking. Because it isn't and we still haven't broken the addiction/habituation. And I also suspect that 90% of the people here would go right back to cigarettes if their e-cigs were taken away, so it's not my place to get holier than thou on anyone.
