Yeah I was going to ask about labels and I forgot. What do you do for labels? Ever heard of erasable labels?

I just use little white labels I write on with a pen. They're supposed to be "freezer labels" but no idea what the advantage is. AFAIK the only way to do a erasable label would be to write in pencil, which if it got juice on, will probably mess up really bad. Some more organized folks than me will use one of those Brother label printer machines to make it look nice and actually be readable unlike my usual scrawl.

That'll work.

My bottles usually take a day to dry out after rinsing. Much of my rinsing is recycling juices, so a good wash to get rid of the old, and a nice fresh bottle for the new. I wish I had a better labeling way, s there's always sticky left and I have to do a quick Goo Gone wipe down before the bottle is "good as new".

There ought to be a cheap tool for drying bottles. A plastic manifold with multiple vertical tubes air driven by a small squirrel cage fan would do it. I haven't tried a hairdryer to speed up the process. I just let mine air dry.

Or this for $8.00. It appears to have tubes larger than most of my bottles, though. Maybe some flexible rubber insert tubes would size it down to 60ml bottle size.

For labels I use the plain paper labels you get in packs of 60 or 128 that come 4 to a sheet. Easily removable and a quick scrub when washing them out does the trick.
Problem with that without knowing the brand I could get super adhesive labels. Not all adhesives are alike.

I use Avery color coding labels (1/2" x 3/4"). They also make 1/2" x 1 1/2" if you need a little more writing area. The surface must be very clean or they will not stick. Once on, they stay on but are easily removable with a little warm water and soap. The different colors make it easier to find the specific tank/bottle I'm looking for.

I lucked out with the Brother Labelmaker labels. They don't smear with wet hands and they even withstood 30-40 minutes in the ultrasonic cleaner without loosening or smearing. When I transfer from glass to LDPE after steeping they peel and re-stick and stay on the LDPE.

I'm also looking at USB label printers that I can use to print from my laptop. I'm a little tired of the tiny keys on the Brother handheld printer and having to press NUM and CAP to switch back and forth. For about $70 I can get one that does 2 1/4" roll feed peel and stick labels in black and white with multiple lines and font sizes.

Anyone used this one? 58 bucks at Amazon.

Edit to add: I pulled the trigger on the Brother QL-700 below. Prime shipping gets it here by the end of the week.

Perfect for professional looking labels for out and about. So, no one questions what's in the bottles. All professional looking.

But, masking tape is good enough for around the house.

I'm thinking about paint pens for glass and just writing directly on plastic bottles with sharpies. Comes off easy enough.

My Sharpies don't smear once dry, but they wear off with handling. I guess that's fine if you use the juice up in a week, refill, and continue on with a new flavor and a new label.

My flavor choices change a little from batch to batch. I just print up new labels and start again. It's easy enough with the Brother labeler with the tiny keyboard. It's time I move to something i can plug into a laptop and use a real keyboard.

I am still trying to come up with a way to successfully label my bottles. Writing is not an option since even I cannot read what I wrote :)censored: tremors). I tried the printed labels from HotRod's calculator and taped them to the bottle before mixing to make sure I got the right flavors in the right bottle. Spilled a bit down the outside of a bottle and onto the label and all the red (name of the juice) disappeared.

I've been checking out label makers, but there are so many, it is hard to figure which one. I really liked the looks of the one @DaveP linked above, but some of the reviews are scaring me off of that model.

For now, since I am not doing a lot of DIY, I can get by with using the calculator labels. But if anybody can suggest a good labeler that will print 3-4 lines with reasonable large type (eyes are not what they once were either), that would be helpful. Under $100 would be great, but I would rather spend the money up front rather then spend a small fortune on the tape. Better yet, one that connects to a computer with good reviews.

Some of you folks sure put a lot of effort into labeling! All I need is the label to show what is in the bottle as I reuse my bottles so often when a bottle label lasts more than one use it is a surprising occurrence. Rare I use that same bottle for the same flavor.

I ordered the Brother QL-700 printer just because I got tired of the tiny keyboard on the handheld Brother printer. The QL-700 lets me go to the laptop and type in a label and print it without all the gyrations associated with tiny keys. That, and I'm a gadget freak.

It's a guy toy ...

I would be very interested in how that works out for you. Keep us updated when you get it.

Reviews are good. I'd really like a color model, but can't see spending the extra hundred bucks for home DIY use and sporadic label printing for other things. I'd do inkjet labels but those are page oriented instead of single feed.

I got rid of my dot matrix printers back in the 90's. It's a new toy, but it will get me back on the laptop keyboard and off the tiny keyboard on the little Brother handheld skinny label printer. It's a birthday present from my wife. She's a great lady!

Below is the Brother commercial that shows some of its features.
