A lot of vapers don't realize that just cutting your smoking down with vaping has a huge health impact. The ANTZ like to call that "dual use" and imply that vaping is ADDING to the smoking rather than reducing. They also like to pretend that cutting down isn't even that good (because you should just quit, even though only 3% of smokers will actually quit every year and just as many start up.)

But their own stats contradict the claim that "just cutting down" isn't worth it - as I pointed out in another thread, smoking increases the risk of lung cancer in men by 2,300%, but second-hand smoke (which would be "reduced smoke exposure") only increases the risk by 16%. (BTW - that increased risk is not the same as "chances." A 16% risk increase does not mean a 16% chance of getting cancer, it means that if your likelihood of getting lung cancer as a non-smoker was a 1, if you are exposed to massive amounts of second-hand smoke over your lifetime, the relative risk increases to a 1.16 RR, whereas smoking would be a 23.0 RR.)

Obviously, just cutting down smoke exposure even by 50% would make a HUGE difference in the health risks.

What's even a little more bizarre about sig banners, is mine would say something like this (and be somewhat accurate):

17 hours, 12 minutes and 30 seconds since my last cigarette
$4800 saved and 12,038 cigarettes avoided.

But, I'm not sure if they make those sig banners for people who choose to still smoke and vape.
I currently spend $40 a month on logs. Used to spend that much in 2 to 4 days.
My hypothetical sig banner would probably make some people scratch their heads, but reality is sig banners aren't telling a complete story.

I had a sig banner that tracked all of this perfectly... was ingenious... except it cost me $2/month.. I found out everyone elses banners where free except hosted in china :( <bows head>, I know it was only $2.00 but.....

I glad that peeps give up the analog habit and have saved lots of cash, don't get me wrong.:vapor:
Could everyone quit bragging about it in the Signatures ?
The reason? Simple I'm sure some Politian or Politian's Flunky is reads this site. Do you know what they see when they read $3,000 Saved!! LOST Revenue. The more peeps brag about how much money they are saving the Higher the taxes will be when the Taxes start. It's only a matter of time before the price a E Juice doubles.

Maybe a politician or two will notice we now have money in our pockets to donate to their campaign, stir the economy in their town, put food on our table & donate to emergency relief.

I so funny! I should do stand up comedy.

i can see where some of you aren't seeing much savings vaping as opposed to smoking.
cigs are a lot cheaper in some parts of the country than some other places.
i know i am saving buku bucks.
when i quit analogs 107 days ago i was smoking 2 packs a day.
after the latest tax hike this year the cost went up to and average $7.50 a pack.
so $7.50 x 2 packs a day = $15.00 x 107 days = $1605.00.
i've spent about $650.00 roughly on batts, carts, tanks, and juice.
so $1605.00 - $650.00 = $955.00.
my cost should be going way down now as i have plenty of batts and tanks and such, and only need
to maintain them.
my initial equipment costs were about $200.00.after that figure it costs roughly 70 cents to a dollar for
the equivalent of a pack of smokes.i know i'm vaping a lot more than when i smoked but, that is
slowing down too,so more savings there.
in new york city cigs a above $10.00 a pack.think what there saving if there're buying off
the internet.

they could gold plate my ego's and i'd still save money here in taxasota.

regards
mike

That's great skoony... I wish I could be satisfied with a certain setup and that's that... I'd save a ton, smokes here $10+ a pack, and I smoked a pack a day.

Unfortunately I like gadgets and you'ha's and shiny things...

If I stopped buying now it would take me 2 years to break even with savings from not smoking, but who am I kidding... The second some yahoo posts a new atty or mod or whatever on the forum that has something new.. I'm in.

I'm just as addicted to buying the crap as I am to vaping it. The tax problem here is not that I spend more on gear than cigs so the government should be happy, it's that in my country anyways The government got a lot more cig taxes from me than they'll see from the 13% tax on the vaping gear (not even when I buy worldwide). The tax on cig's is around 60% of the retail price of the pack, so well over 100% taxes on these things. Outta $10/pack the cig companies probably see $3-$4/pack (not profit, but gross).

I am sure no Canadian has ever bought a Chinese product. It's only us fat greedy Americans.

@Sucker_dad forget the fact that the original context was china stealing American jobs so I answered in context, the other facts in my post where in reference to the Chinese helping to keep your economy afloat.. something they don't do in direct cash injections for us.

Your debt is something like 35% owned by foreign governments (50% of that by Japan and China)

(go nuts and be a numbers Nazi if you like... I'm straight typing rather than referencing, I'm sure I'm pretty close with these)

If you really want to know the difference between Canadians and Mericans here this is it, which is why It wouldn't make sense for me to say US (as in you and I, not the country) in the previous post (even though we like our Chinese crap just as much as the next guy... not that all Chinese stuff is crap, we just demand crap, so they make it for us... they're obviously very capable to make high end devices :) )

You owe 16+ Trillion (isn't it like 17 now)....
We owe 600-700 billion..

ok that means very little.. you have more bodies.

per capita

each of you owe somewhere in the range of 56,000
we owe around 18,000

But what about where the debt is held

35% of your debt is held by foreign countries
around 10% of ours is.

The majority of our debt in fact is for pension funds, and the vast majority of our debt 80-90% is held by Canadians.

So if greedy is the word you decide to use for yourself, I wouldn't argue, but you heard it from you first.

and fat... where would you get that idea?
U.S. Troops Too Fat to Fight? - Military Fitness - Military.com

Uh-Oh... looks like it might be starting to effect your largest export.... "Democracy"

I apologize to other Mericans who take offence, I really hate judging groups as a whole, it's usually individuals that suck. Unfortunately you guys keep electing those individuals into office.

Oh and my banner... it's just a counter to remind me how long I've stayed away from the vice/addiction that would have eventually taken me from my kids....

I did the same thing! Turns out the kids were ok with my smoking because it meant they would inherit the vast Myst fortune sooner. Their banners on the MenendezBrothers forums counts the number of times they've push me down the stairs..

It's a motivational tool for new members and also for people to get increased support if they feel like switching back to analogs.

I see what you're saying- but understand they have HUGE departments of accountants, Marketing Agents and Analytic Groups that know these figures before we even do.

Out of everything, I doubt member signatures will be the main cause of any inflation or added attention.

(This may be the most mature post I've ever had in a forum)

I smoked for 45 years and certainly have paid my fair share of cigarette taxes and income taxes. I feel proud to see how much Phillip Morris isn't getting from me.

What is it with this sense of entitlement these days?

Just because you don't like something, it should stop. Thinking logically, it is so circular. It would never stop. Conversely, I could say something different about you, and demand you to stop doing it. Where would it end?

The bravado and attitude of a lot of these new posters just blows my mind out of the water. Although I spent the bulk of my time before ECF on other forums, learning netiquette, and was ahead of the learning curve here, the stugotz on some of these noobs isn't only shocking, but embarrasing.

I was a noob once here, too, but ECF is a crucible.
I appreciate your point, but basically the newbs are uneducated in the finer points of who is trying to screw us.
This is not new, it's just that there are more and more newbs every day so it seems to be getting worse.

It's not though.

More newbs is a good thing, and all we need to do is keep educating them, just like we always have.
Oh, yeah, and encourage them to read the Legislative News subforum, join CASAA, and get involved in forming our vaping destiny.

Better we help form it than have them shove it down our throats.

It's true. America is a great country but at some point we became spoiled by our own embarrassment of riches and entitlements. The vast majority of us have fallen into it and we've spread consumerism to other countries. We've become a "Want" society vs. a "Need" society. If something new and shiny in our spectrum of interest comes along that is cheap enough we say we want it regardless of whether or not we need it. I know I do it and I am working on correcting it. Ask yourself how much time you spend buying and looking for things to buy vs. actually doing and living. Is it out of proportion to your parents, grand parents or great grandparents? Think about it.
This is true.

I have money, and I can buy whatever I want.
But I use standard 510 atomizers on an Ego Twist after four years of vaping.

I rarely buy for want, mostly for need.
And I don't need to keep up with the Joneses.

The one thing I do want to point out is that I have money, in large part, BECAUSE I don't buy what I want.
I drive a Pontiac Vibe, when I could be driving a Jaguar.

It's kind of a catch-22 in that I could, and I might want to, but I don't.
But if I bought what I want, could I continue to be in that position to buy what I want over the long term?

Right now, I want to make sure my retirement is sound and solid.
Lord knows I don't trust the government to provide for me, nor do I really want them to.

I just hope I don't die before I get to enjoy that retirement.
That would suck.
:)

WARNING, joke ahead. Really, if you are of voting age and live in Toronto you shouldn't be criticizing who others vote into office. :p

Well done sir... you win the internet. LOL..

I actually thought of this at one point after writing it... I'm GTA (Greater Toronto Area, or outside of TO), glad of that fact, I live in the burbs, just put TO so most don't have to google my whereabouts.

No less funny though, I tip my hat to you sir.

My wife leaves things on the floor for me to trip over when I wander to the bathroom in the middle of the night.

Yeah, I know, she has a basic tendency to just put things down wherever she is when she is done with them.
I have been led to believe that it is in her nature to not finish what she started, like putting things AWAY when she is done with them.

But I know now, and have known for quite some time, that she is after that vast DC2 fortune.
But she isn't fooling me, and I shuffle my feet when wandering around the house in the dark nowadays.

Especially near the stairs.
