In the world of REO, that we merely live in, I once knew there was more! What else are we into?

Great thread! Here's some of my audio/home theater addiction. I've bought and sold more of this stuff than I can remember but this is what's making me happy for now.

Magnepan 1.6 QR mains, KEF center and surrounds, 500w Emotiva XPA-2 for Maggies, 150w Odyssey Stratos for surrounds, dual NHT subs/amps connected in stereo, 18" HSU sub for LFE, 60" Samsung plasma, Onkyo 809 for control center, Apple TV, Mac Mini for music server loaded with high res music files, Sennheiser HD 598 and vintage Sansui cans, 3 4'X3' DIY absorption panels on walls, PS3 for blu-ray and games, Pioneer universal player for SACD and HD audio. I haven't been out to a movie theater in years.:)

if you laugh or poke fun, I'll kick you square in the throat. we got these when were 18, 20 years ago. I do regret it, but its there to stay.

this a design that we both came up with for her. the second pic explains a little if you have a hard time seeing what is all going on.

and my next one will be something like this.

Even though I retired from my job, I couldn't get rid of all my programming books, and still want to continue to expand my skills when I have the time.

I watch my grandkids 3 or 4 days a week. The little guys (1 is 11 months and the other is 2 1/2) really keep me busy when they are both here on the same days.

One of our current projects is getting my 69 VW Bug back into shape after sitting on the side of the house for 12 years. It has been an adventure (but a fun one!)

My husband changing the fuel pump in a random empty parking along Hwy 108... part of the adventure...

One of the new fenders that we will be putting on the car. I was hoping we would have these done and the rest of the body repainted by this fall, but it will probably not be finished up until next Spring.

I enjoy volunteering with a UMC church group to help with rebuilding homes after disasters. I haven't been able to do this as much as I wanted to the last few years, but I am going to be back in New Jersey the first part of October to help with rebuilding. This picture is me on the last trip I was on, near Biloxi, MS in 2007:

I am not a musician, but like to play guitar for myself, and I like all things Volkswagen. My husband found this guitar on ebay and got it for me for Christmas a few years back. It's one of the guitars that came with a special version of the VW New Beetles a number of years ago.

I did not see any LAMP (Linux Apache MySQL and PERL) books. Not even the real C book (by Richie).

malkuth, that is just my small bookshelf - I have two more bookshelves full of books, including PERL and two C books (though I don't think I have Richie's) and I've done a bit of C programming in my time. I didn't want to overload the thread with all my books. Most of my SQL books are Oracle, but I do like MySQL a lot and have it installed on my laptop. I still have some Unix books from when the team I worked on was developing on Unix, and I have a Linux distribution in a virtual machine (which I should start using more often before I forget what I knew). :)

I really love this thread. I find it completely intriguing that It seems I have more than a little in common with quite a few folks in this thread. I'm just not really sure I'm "in to" this or that versus this or that just being part of my way of life or the way of life of those whom I know and love, though.

Tattoos - I have no ink, but probably more than half of the people I associate with daily (including many family members) do, and one of my oldest friends has made his living as a tattoo artist for more than 30 years. I've always appreciated and been intrigued by tattoo art and all of the reasons people usually associate with having it. For instance, my sister has a story or a life event associated with every tat she has. Every one of them means a lot to her.

Motorcycles - I'm a cager. I'll always be a cager. Same story with the ink, though: I know a lot of harley pilots and loads of friends and family who are in to all sorts of street bikes, dirt bikes, 4 wheelers, etc. I know quite a lot about bikes because I associate with a lot of people who make them a way of life. I have the endorsement on my license and have been able to ride since I was a kid (there were a couple of dirt bikes on the farm when I was growing up), but I prefer a cage. Even though I'm completely familiar with it, even if I won the lottery tomorrow, you wouldn't find me ordering a ducati streetfighter.

Knives (particularly edc folders) - another one where I have a lot of information/knowledge, but no real passion. Even though I know the differences between popular steels, deployment types, lock types etc, all I really care about is that whatever is in my pocket is sturdy enough to accomplish my every day cutting tasks and isn't a real pain to sharpen when it needs it. I own a bunch of folders (from cheap to expensive), but as long as I can keep it sharp enough to gut a fish or break down boxes or cut bailing twine, I'm not really picky as to which one is with me. In fact, some of the knives I'm most likely to have handy around here are not that well reviewed but I find them perfectly acceptable to do what I need them to do. I'm just as happy using my kershaw blur as I am my spyderco super leaf. The superleaf is better reviewed and has VG-10 blade steel, but my blur gets the same jobs done just as comfortably and never needs more than a few strokes over the ceramic to touch back up.... That was all blasphemy right there to serious and passionate knife guys, right ;) I learned a lot about knives over the years because my best friend has made it his life's mission to know every detail about every knife available since we were 10.

Programming - My commodore 64 + 4 came with a book on spreadsheets and a book on basic (I wanted it to play games, but my folks didn't understand that and never bought me any games). When I was 12 or 13, I had zero need for spreadsheets but did require a method to create my own games. So, that basic book got worn out and ended up creating a monster that lived another 25 or so years. I got burned out though. I still occasionally need python because of the operating systems I choose to use for a lot of purposes, but I'll never again have a deadline or spend another minute of my life in a cubicle.

Hunting/fishing - I grew up on a farm in Montana. I don't approach hunting and fishing with any extra passion. I won't lie and say I don't find it to be a noble and pleasurable endeavor, but I will say my primary reason for hunting and fishing has always been to supplement my sustenance. I eat what I catch or kill. I feed what I catch or kill to my family. The only exceptions are varmints and predators and those I kill to protect my primary sources of sustenance (the critters and crops on dads farm). Hunting and fishing is just part of my life and has been as long as I can remember.

I'm a simple man. My passions and ideas that I'm "in to" all relate to my family, my friends, and my neighbors.

EDIT/ADD - Also noticed a veedub back on the first page. Well, I don't need to say more than this about that: We have a 66 body on a 65 pan. It has been with us since around '74. Came with a 1200, been through that 12, a 13, and two 1600s. transaxel's been rebuilt three times and just started popping out of 4th again so I'll be doing it again soon. Never had any other vehicle that attracts so many people who just want to talk about it or maybe one they have or maybe one some relative of theirs had.... bugs attract the best sorts of the nicest people you'll ever know :)

I don't have many of my photo's to post from this PC but I'll tell what I can. My job keeps me pretty busy (see avatar). But when I'm home it's family time first and beer brewing second. I brew all my own beer. More because I like to experiment then drink although my friends love the benefit of free beer. I love Belgian beers and most are pretty expensive so making my own I can clone about anything you can buy. I also fish everywhere in the country that I can park within reasonable walking distance to water. And I like most you have a few tat's and always want more. That's about it in a nutshell.

Nice. I got a real basic setup. Two coopers fermenters, and I use the pet plastic bottles. Playing around with crystal malt and hops. I still use the cans. I couldn't go full grain. Bottled two czech pilsners and put down a draught. It's getting too hot here now and I don't have a dedicated fridge.

Ha I just realised u drive trucks. That's an awesome rig. I drive concrete agitators. I'm not a "real" truckie. But I do enjoy it.

Lol next time I'm home I'll take pics of the setup it's not as fancy as some of the guys I know. I have a friend with a fully automated system. But I have probably about $1500 in my setup. Check out this forum. I'm on there as much as here. Home Brew Talk - Home Brew forums, news, articles, reviews, blogs, pho

I probably have about 10 cases worth of beer right now. Some of them are very high alcohol and are cellaring in a freezer with a temp control on them for at least a year. Some of my Barleywines will cellar for about 5 years before we start drinking a couple of bottles a year.

Heheh yeah all grain is the way to go for full control over your end product. Yeah I took a break from brewing for a few years but now that I own my truck I schedule my home time around my brew schedule. And I have a wonderful wife who checks on my airlocks while I'm away. She had to cleanup and save a massive blowoff I had a couple of months ago on a big belgian. God I love that woman don't know what I'd do without her. And yeah I'm in the Midwest US and it is getting to be the good time of year for me. Although the wife is pregnant with daughter number two so I'm losing my dedicated brew lab to be the new ones bedroom. Thankfully she gave me the Ok to build a man cave addition that will be my new brew room and man cave.

Yer my missus didn't flinch when I bought the setup. Until I decided I needed 200 bottles. Hahaha. It is good to have a woman who can appreciate a man who brews. She liked my cider and lemonade, but ain't a fan of beer. I'm the opposite.

Mine doesn't like beer either but she knows me well enough to know I'd like doing it so she bought my first starter kit. Lol and she got me my first e-cig.....wow she really is the best woman ever! lol. Now if she'd only known how much more I would spend once she got them for me she might have rethought it! lol

She does however like a beer called Lindemans their Lambic's at least. I wouldn't dare try making one though one the wild yeast are hard to get rid of and could infect everything else I make and two they backsweeten their beer which is really hard to do on the small scale. But if your lady likes fruity stuff she might like them as well.
