I'm about three weeks into vaping, had an immediate reduction in my two pack/day habit to 7, 4, then 2, and in the last two days I have one cigarette total. I was smoking Virginia Slims Ultra Light 120s. I am currently using 16 mg juice.

My sleeping habits were never great, getting six hours on a good night and then having one day a week where it would catch up with me and I'd sleep a solid eight. However, for the 10-14 days, I can't sleep. I've tried sleeping pills and sometimes they work, sometimes they don't. I seem to be okay once I get into a sound sleep with my biggest problem being falling asleep. My brain just seems to be racing and I can't shut it down. I have had a couple nights recently where I finally manage to doze off around 4:30, only to wake up a half hour later and be up.

I feel tired, maybe not as desired as I should feel, but still tired enough that coupled with the horrible 110 degree heat indices we've had here lately that I'm feeling pretty fogged.

Is my nic level too high or too low? If I maintain the status quo, how long can I expect to be sleepless in the heartland before my body recalibrates to the new chemical balance and I can get at least my 5-6 hours again?

Consider me your recycling center for Njoy Pro, Smoking Everywhere Gold, Cloud 9, Smoke 51 Trio, and DSE103 useless batteries.
Other hardware if it’s still usable.
Those I loan out to/give to thank you.

Your nic lvl MAY be too high... BUT it also may be that the nicotine in vaping is slower getting to the brain and may be reaching it's peek as you're going to bed. You can try lowering the nicotine... but maybe just using a reduced nicotine just b4 bed might help.
Personally I have been an insomniac for years... I have been known to go 72 hours without sleep (this is NOT good for the brain I don't recommend it) I started at 36 mg nicotine and am now down to 18mg... and have slept at least 6 hrs a night for the last 57 days that I've been doing this. I too smoked 120 menthols only I did em at full strength and almost 3 packs a day. Take my advice for what it's worth... :2c: and if you still have concerns about it talk to your doctor. Ambien works really great for the falling asleep part (I don't take it often cuz I'm really afraid of becoming TOO dependent on it but as a temporary solution it might be worth looking into) :)

I do indeed vape before I sleep (or not sleep as the case may be). So much for my vow to try to go two whole weeks without spending any more money. I wasn't sure if it was maybe a withdrawal from the MAOIs that are said to be in cigarettes and, if so, how long it could be expected to last. Thank you both for the input; looks like I get to shop after all this weekend.

That's a possibility I thought of as well, simplesins. The lack of MAOI's might have that effect but I would think it would be more likely that it would have the opposite effect as it would reduce the serotonin lvl in the brain. BUT not being a doctor, i'm only a transcriptionist, I wouldn't be able to say for certain.

Oops it won't actually reduce the serotonin...but it won't increase it as the MAOI's would.

I think you should try two things:

1: Do not vape before you go to sleep.

If that does not work for you:

2: Vape lower nicotine liquid

Vaping before I sleep keeps me up, its better than coffee in the morning for me. I think that is the main reason why you are kept up at night.

All the best,
Tim
