Hi, it has been awhile since I have been on or purchased any new products. Been happy with my Vivi Nova's, but I too have been looking forward to trying a mesh wick. My Question is that it says this wick should last awhile, so how do we take care of the wick? Also I looked to see if you were selling any mesh wicks but could not find any, if not will you be selling them in the future?and is there a vid of this rba being put together or are all mesh set ups basically the same? Thank you in advance for any help. Also hoping I can find more time to stay up to date with everything and all the new products comming out. Hope you have all been doing ok, :)

I just received one of these today. Make sure you watch some videos on how to fiddle with a mesh wick. You really need to wiggle the coils until the whole thing glows.

The preinstalled wick on mine unfortunately shorted pretty close to the positive end and popped, so I didn't get to try it. I recoiled and fiddled until it was glowing all over. My coil is just under 1.5ohms and is working well.

The top cap does screw on but it hits the o-ring before getting seated. That allows plenty of play to line the air hole up with the wick.

This is my first genesis style atty and so far I'm fairly impressed. I do seem to have a slight leak somewhere but I haven't located it yet. When I do I'll post an up date.

http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...-systems/339156-calling-all-genisis-pros.html Good tips in here for getting your wick ready and trouble shooting.

http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/modding-forum/330407-500-ss-mesh.html Very very long thread full of good info, long story short solid tight wick no straw or tube in the middle and the higher the mesh number ie 400 or 500 the better no difference for vg or pg, I'd start with 400 as 500 can get pricey while you are trying to get the wick to work just right.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k2pjHVZlF0M and vid for making a ss mesh wick, you cna use a gas stove in place of the torch.

I'm putting this up because I just went through this process and its a pain if you don't know what you are doing, hope this helps someone!

If you have problems with shorts, I recommend the cotton-wrap method. The tutorial video is posted in the RBA introductory thread with all the troll-y hoo-ha in it, but it's not that complicated. Roll up your wick as tight as possible and oxidize it. Then rub the top third or so of it lightly across a regular cotton ball and snag the cotton along the length of the wick. Gently tug and lift a little until a thin scrim of cotton pulls loose, then twirl the wick to wrap the cotton around it. Wrap your coil around the cotton. I remove any excess cotton above or below the coil, but I can't remember if that's in the video or if it's just me. It only takes a very thin layer, and it works beautifully. No more shorts. It also helps to keep the coils in place as you're wrapping, and you can adjust the spacing and so forth without worrying about scraping the oxidation off the wick.

If you do use this method, DO NOT dry fire the coil to look for hot spots or you'll burn the cotton. Wet the wick and cotton with some juice before firing. After a couple of short-ish pulses - be sure to turn the voltage down - the hot spots will glow if there are any. Hope this helps.

Badkolo- what's the outer diameter? Aside from the line, I can't find a genesis style rba that fits flush with an ego style batt. (using a vv don"t worry)
Boden- Did your monster come with clear tank? Is it pyrex or plastic?
Lavaca5- Do you get a funky taste from the cotton and does it subside with use? My first couple of tries with cotton as apposed to rolling paper muted flavor and also left a strange aftertaste so I ditched using cotton. (made sure it wasn't a dry burn affecting taste)

I just received mine today. It's my first SS mesh wick. Looks like its all set up and ready to fill. I'm a little hesitant on this, I just take the screw out fill it up with 3ml of juice and vape? Or is there something else I should do first. I will watch the videos when its time to rewick, but for now it looks ready.

The coil probably has some shorts in it as it's set up. Dim your lights set your device to it's lowest power and hit the button. You're looking for the coil to glow evenly all over. If you have some dark spots, poke at them gently with the allen key provided. Hit the button again and see if you've made a difference. Repeat until the whole thing glows.

It may not be even with the device set low you can slowly increase the power once it all glows.

As you heat it up the coil and wick build up extra oxidation which will protect it as you increase voltage.

Another step to take, before filling: Once you have determined that all of the coil glows evenly, the next step is to season the wick and coil by doing a few "wet burns". Put a drop or two of juice on the coil, and hit the power button and burn the juice off. Repeat this, gradually increasing the voltage a little each time (if you're using variable voltage). This burn off will build an additional layer of oxidation between the wick and coil. After doing this a few times, fill and vape.

Ok the coil that came on the unit broke immediately at the top on first fire. I replaced the coil with 32g kanthal(very easy with a little magnification). 5 wraps, provari says 2.3ohms, higher than I wanted, but next time I will wrap 4 times.
Took some time to get the all the coils to glow at first just the top coil would glow at 3v, then after a lot of 3 to 4 sec fires and gradually bumping up the volts to 4 all the coils were orange. I did put a few drops of juice on the coil and let it burn off. I filled thru the fill hole about 2.5ml, lined up the air hole with the wick. I'm now vapping at 3.7v 18mg tribeca, no leaks, seems ok so far, vapor,TH and flavor good. I will play around with voltages, but its cool looking for sure, good price.
Thanks for the help.

Where I am
Monster Mesh came today. Original coil was reading way too low for my tastes so I built a new coil. Took a little fiddling, but I'm vaping along nicely. This is my first RBA so it was nice to skip a step with the pre-oxidized wick. Thanks Gotvapes for offering such an awesome product for noobs to RBA's.
