got mine in today, coil did blow at top first fire with a ego. replaced it with a kanthal 32ga a1 wire, its at 2.4ohms now right where i want it at. I was able to get the coils to glow red equally before adding juice. So i added the juice, now only the top coil glows red, I cant get all the coils to cook, just the top and bottom glows red now. ss mesh does not seem to get juice up, i have to tip it upside down for 20 seconds or so until i finaly see it get moist. tried it out it was good at first, but then after that its just hot heat taste. Took cap off, noticed its dried out already and only top coil is glowing red. How do I equalize all the coils to glow? why isnt the wick wicking up the juice? I did apply some juice on the ss mesh when i took it out and light it up with my lighter until it burned out. then put it back in and recoiled it. seems like its got all clogged up or something?

They don't really glow anymore once they're wet. The wick will work better over time. To get it started you have to prime it. Also, with the top off tip it down with the wick down and wait for a bead of juice to form at the end. Then burn it a bit and tip it until there's another drop, burn it again, put the top on and vape. I tend to hold mine parallel with the ground with the wick down. Been doing that for a day now and It's gotten to where I don't really have to tip it much any more.

I watched a video awhile back where a guy took a 2mm drill bit wrapped the coil around it then put it into the wick hole, then attached the pos and neg wires, then removed the bit. Then he would dry burn the coil a few sec at a time till the coil was Orange immediately at fire. Then he put the SS mesh thru the coil and into place, claims eliminates any hot spots. I haven't tried it yet, mine is working good so far, but I will next recoil. If anyone has the link to this video it may help a lot of us including myself, that is new to this genesis style of vapping.

Wall if your paitient do this to see it it works as your getting a short cause none of the coils should glow when its being vaped.
Get glass of cold water and pull coil out and toss the wire.
Go to your gas stove and remove the grate and get the mesh glowing for about 20 second and then dip in the cold water and enjoy the little noise it makes. Then pat dry with napkin.
Repeat this 4-5 times each time dipping in cold water.
Then coat with e-liquid and again on stove just for a sec cause it will hold a flame and burn off the e-liquid just dont put it in the cold water afterwards.
It will cool quickly then wrap your new wire and test with no ejuice firing your ego long enough to see all the coils glow more or less evenly.
Once there doing that add ejuice, with my set up i use a DID and once ejuice is added to tank within a minute the coil self saturates itself with its own capillary action and its ready to vape.
If your not useing a similar setup ie: tank coat it with ejuice to help it start wicking once you fire it a few times you should not see any glowing of the coils what so ever.
If you do check to make sure no loose strands are touching the positive post along with the coil itself as well.
Make sure your positive lead and your ground lead are short as possible and taught.
Once that checked and still top or bottom or both coils top and bottom coils still glow gently very gently nudge that top coil with finger nail down a hair and test fire again.
Be careful not to scrape mesh with finger nail only nudge the wire with your nail if possible.
Hope this helps and with a little practice it gets very easy .

I would like to add ive done this and its simpler than it sounds .
Ive seen many video's useing drill bits , rolling papers and such and never tried them cause this is what works for me.
Now i would be lying if i said it works 100 % as sometimes after wrapping i have to adjust coil a little and then its fine.
But that happens with much less frequency now a days.
What ever method you find that works for you keep at it though cause there are many this is just what works for me and been doing it since scubatdan came out with his scubgenv3 genesis tank when i did the u shaped wicks.

well, I took it all apart, rinsed off the ss wick, then used butane torch to heat it red hot and dipped in water few times, then applied some liquid on it and light it up burned it off. put it in the clean washed monstermesh tank. re coiled it, took me a few times to get the coils right because a few of them shorted when i fired it up at 2.9v on my provari, one got so red that it was so BRIGHT! made a little tiny mark on the wick, i think it is still ok for now. finally got a coil to work and all coils were evenly red at 3.8 volts after fiddling with it with the allen wrench. added some drops on the coil and burned it off. Then I filled up the tank.

Right now its at 2.4 ohms, it does not seem like it will wick very well. Its a 30pg 70vg ratio liquid. works ok at 3.7v, but when i put it up to 4.0v it just gets hot and dry burn taste. so 3.7 is where it is at right now. Takes longer to get a good vapor cloud, if i go too long it can get dry. I keep it hortizonal with ground all the time, tried having the wick facing down, or up. Seems to work better when its facing up sometimes.

Basically it just works for 2 or 3 vapes then its dry and i have to tip it down for a minute then vape 1 or 2 times, tip down for a minute.

Is there anything else to do to improve this? Otherwise I'm going back to my vivi nova with rebuilt head with cotton wick until I can order some more ss mesh.

If you roll a tightly rolled price of mesh 400 or 500 it will wick much better. If it is loosely rolled you have to tip it to get wicking

I'm pretty sure the kit comes with 325, but then again I ordered mine form a different place, anyone want to chime in on what mesh it comes with? Even 325 if rolled tightly (i mean tight, like fingers are sore after rolling the dang thing tight) and big enough to just fit into the wick hole should wick ok. If your wick is loose in the wick hole consider unrolling it, putting a bit more mesh inside the roll and re roll it making sure to get it as tight as possible.

As for vapor, it sounds like you are still getting a short. At 2.4 ohms you should be able to easily get up to 4.0 at least. I'm using a 1.6 coil at 4.2 and it has no burnt taste at all. You should be getting at least as much vapor as you were getting from your vivi nova, the only thing that rivals mine is my SRT with cotton yarn wick and air hole that is directly lined up with the coil, but my mesh tastes cleaner...

Ah your at 30pg/70pg - i have heard but cannot honestly say it will work but what i hear is the lower count mesh is better for wicking higher vg e-liquids.
Im at the opposite side as i vape 75-80 pg and 25-20 vg i vary it as i make it myself and go back and forth, i do use 400 mesh and it works excellent never a dry hit.
I dont know how it would with your high vg though.

You could have the wick too far in the tank. I have heard that it helps to keep it off the bottom a hair to allow flow.
As far as shorts are concerned I use the rolling paper trick (uses a dry burn before wetting wick)

If you're use to the taste of cotton then try this BUT dont dry burn first!

Always make sure the wick isnt kinked(bent) at all before you use it. If it is you can bend and squeeze it back to straight but I think its best to make a new wick.

I forgot to mention at the tank end of wick i cut it at a 45 degree angle and install the mesh until it touches the tank floor. ; )
Also i make a fold over the end of mesh and then use a paper clip straightened out and then roll the mesh wick and and afterwards i leave it in and hold it with needle nose pliers to oxidize it on the stove .
So the wicks actually have a small diameter hole running thru the center of wick .

In short its just what i do and works well for me with my setup etc.

Wally i really hope you get it setup cause i gotta say and not trying to upset anyone but after seeing really tiny fragments of silica with my jewelers eyepiece on the top plate where the silica coil wick sits of a smoketech vivi rebuildable tank setup it made me look also into that metal proprietary drip tip and found them there also.
I still have 3 brand new ones in the box that i just dont feel comfortable putting them in the classy's or even giving them away cause of what i seen.
Something gonna kill us eventually anyways but................

The mesh fits in the hole fine, no slop , but got to twist it around as you put it in and then wiggle it down. If i made it smaller then wouldn't the liquid leak out?

I'm not having problems with shorting out lately, just only issue i am having is dry hits and constantly having to tip it upside down to get some flow going. Can't run high voltages at all . I'm guessing its because its too thick for that mesh. I have no clue what number mesh it is. I do have a little of 70pg/30vg juice left over, i could try that, but not enough to fill the tank though. Might give it a try.

Here is a picture of my fancy artwork lol

btw this is how wet it is after laying on its side for a few hours.

Try cramming as much ss mesh as you can into the wick. I started out making them with around half an inch, got dry hits and had to tilt a lot. Just made one using 2 inches or so wrapped around a paper clip, no dry his yet and better flavor.

Also, I'm using 50/50 and 400 ss mesh. The higher the number the better for any juice. 500 ss mesh you can even leave out the air hole.
