I was really looking forward to this atomizer, but I just watched a video from Scott (igetcha69) on YouTube explaining some possible issues with the way the air flow works. He clearly demonstrated the difference between the way that it is and a proposed solution. I wanted to see if the proposed solution is being considered. After seeing the video and running into similar issues with other atomizers, I would only be interested if those ideas (or something along those lines) were implemented in some way.

Seems like too much of a hassle otherwise, from what I could clearly see in the video anyway. Also there was an issue with the drip trip possibly touching the posts and causing shorts?

Has anyone else run into these issues?

See my other post. His assertions are false and do not apply to the strata. Rbas work on vacuum, so his fluid dymanics illustrations do not apply. Plain and simple. Also, all units since 3/12 have been remedied for the possible electrical arcing issue with a new tip and any prior to that if you are having arcing issues, shoot us an email to supertmanufacturing@yahoo.com and we'll get you out a new one. In the meantime just switch to a regular 510 tip.

I love Scott and his reviews have saved me countless hours over the past couple years with trying to figure stuff out from a list or lacking manufacturer description. He is a huge asset to our community. That being said, I don't agree with the whole air flow concern. If a person were to move the holes as he suggests, I believe you would actually get less vapour, as the vacuum would pull the air from above the coil and not across it. That would also result in no AFC. In my mind the deck acts as a deflector, similar to a pressure vessel inlet baffle. The air cannot simply mushroom out as he explains due to the edges of the top cap sealing around the lower portion of the deck. The air DOES impinge on the deck and deflect towards the coil and eventually up and out the mouthpiece. The more you unscrew the top cap, the less deflection you are likely to get, IMO. And as it's a vacuum, the "suction inlet" is effectively the entire 360 degrees.

A better analogy from the syringes might have been to scribe a horizontal notch to represent the deck (AKA deflector) and add 3 more syringes to the diagram set at 90 degrees apart, then press the plunger.

Or as an experiment, imagine placing a dime on the ID of the top cap over top of the air inlets...this represents the deck right? Now imagine forcing air in from the outside holes. It hits the dime and takes the path of least resistance out the mouthpiece. I dunno, it sounds right in my mind.

I digress. Mine's working awesome with my mesh dual coil, and I know with this I'm only looking at maybe 8-10 rebuilds per year.

And I'm going to say it, God help me. This is the best flavour machine I have found yet. I can't wait to let some buddies try it and give me their thoughts. I may be done with cotton for good now.

Cheers.

Yessir, I have been doing a bit of midnight oil burning myself here lately. I've got a new son taking up as much time as I can give him. It's definitely a joyous time for me and mine! Thanks very much for the help, and I hope all is well!

I believe if you raise the coil up too high, the eliquid vaporization won't have room to expand. I believe as the liquid atomizes it expands into a gas rather violently. Boiling juice in your mouth sucks! Be safe out there guys!

Congrats on the new son! :)

I thank you Nighthawk, I saw your video and I can see it can work, It is definitely something completely different. Unfortunately there are some "old dogs" like me that cant handle the difference. I did the set up someone posted with the marks and it works and really well, got good decent clouds but, its just killing me on the TH and the nicotine absorption. I set it up with a vertical and horizontal coil. I tried it with cotton and gauze. Great flow, no dry hits. I tried it with EKOwool and got dry hot hits, nauseating.

IT does enhance flavor , too much for me though. IT literally feels like Im drinking the liquid straight. My throat hurts. But Ive always been a whimp when it comes to vaping. I like humble builds at 1.0 to 1.5 depending on device. Odys I can go down to 1.0, KFL 1.5 and Penelope at 1.5. The Strata will appeal to those who like flavor vs clouds and those that like the TH and nic hits.

Its not a matter of who will "win" its a different beast all together. Only thing I can put out there is maybe, just maybe it should have been advertised as not your "mamas" atty. For very advanced and adventurous types. Suggested builds should have hit the net way before it went out to some of our less adept hands. I think when all is said and done and people get theirs and now are more armed with "how to's" it wont be so scary. Its definitely not for everyone, as Genesis are not for everyone and silica etc.

Thank you very much Cucco! I agree with Nighthawk, I love Scott. I've watched his videos these past couple few years. He taught me how to rebuild my first RBA, and my first genesis too. He's wrong on this one I'm afraid.

Welcome! Babies! Such fun, and special times!

Like I said before, there are people on here I trust. They say it works, so I have no doubts. :)

It's not even a matter of trust. The thing is freaking awesome.
Somewhere way back when before even testing I said something like "It's as if David is making an atomizer just for me". Well, if I'm the only one who loves it the way I do then I say "Thanks David" and "Nyah nyah nyah" to everybody else. ;)

Trust? Since I have not experienced it yet, for me it is. :)

Took me some experimenting but got an ophion running great in it now. Probably would have taken me a lot longer without path's tutorial there. Using a big paperclip to make the coil on worked much better for me than the large gauge needed that I had tried on earlier. My dual coil attempts weren't to bad either, but wasn't getting the vapor that I am out of the ophion.

Vapor production is about on par with my Kayfun, and I love the adjustable draw on it.

I ordered a Strata yesterday - specifically because of the "tiff" between David and Scott. Want to see if it's as "bad" as one says - or "good" as the other says.
Regardless - I don't feel that public forums / videos are a place for either parties involved to speak about the other - we don't get the full story so we cannot form a full opinion on the matter. If you takes Scott's opinion, David has been a "....." - if you take David's opinion, Scott is a ".....".
I watched the video - I appreciate what Scott is trying to say, but I feel the message itself is misplaced as he comes off as a little butthurt about his interactions with David. Would have been a stronger message without ANY of the personal commentary.
As far as his overall message regarding the Strata - I don't know a whole hell of a lot regarding fluid dynamics, but figure that I have enough experience vaping to where I will make it work very well. There are also tons of ways to make the Kayfun terrific - and tons of ways to make it terrible. If you just want a decent vape without any thought or effort - stick to a clearomizer and be done with it (and there isn't a damn thing wrong with that either). The thought that an RDA should automatically be easy - a no brainer - is definitely over simplification. RDAs have ALWAYS been classified as ADVANCED USER DEVICES - and that goes for the $20 dollar ones as well.
Yes - the Strata is different - maybe it will be difficult to make it work. Are we supposed to stick with "hole in front of coil, insert in face, suck" and call it good - or - try to innovate?

Well, after a few hours of using this I'm pretty darn happy. My batteries however are not, poor things are so old they don't last long anymore. Going to be getting more in stock soon David?

Only two complaints so far. First is the lack of scratches, wear marks, and flaws on the finish. Definitely doesn't go well with my P+, will have to work on that. Second is that this gets pretty darn warm and stays that way for quite a while. Running a 1 ohm ophion, that's normal right? No shorts and all seems fine, just keeps my leg warm when I throw it in a pocket...

Just a friendly reminder on the Super-T subforums (something I need to be reminded of too from time to time...lol):

Please be aware, this thread is to HELP people with their Strata builds and we will moderate with a heavy hand if need be. This thread isn't the place to settle your long standing animosity, stir the pot, spread rumors or make false assumptions and accusations. Nor is it the place to air out how much you "know" in designing and building atomizers. If you think that, then by all means, go ahead and produce your own atomizer. This thread is to help those who actually have a Strata and want to extract its full potential.

Also, as is with ALL rba's/rda's on the market, bad builds can be made for them all, but that doesn't make them a bad atomizer, just a bad build.

We know this RDA has a lot of variables that can make it more difficult to dial in, but we are confident that if you take the time, you will find this to be one of the best vaping experiences you've ever had!

The Super-T Team.

No stock expected in in the near future, I think RTD has some in stock at this time though so you can give them a try. On the getting warm, yes, that is normal, it's quite a chunk of metal, so it'll hold the heat for awhile.

That's really good to hear you are enjoying your new Strata. Also, I'm glad you like the adjustable draw, it's something we are proud of here at Super-T.

Dave - would you mind posting pictures of the original and revised drip tips?

I'm not sure if mine are from before 3/12 or after...want to avoid any black spots (just got them today...going to do a first build tonight!)

Thanks!

Good morning Guruguhan, heres a picture for you, the revised is on the right. I hope your builds go well and if you have any questions, let us know!
