LOL, I would hope so, you are much more experienced and meticulous than I am. I made some at lower and my throat was shredded. On the KFL I build at 1.2 to 1.3, on my Odys, 1.1. On my Fatty, single coil at 1.0. Penelope 1.3 - 1.5. On actual vaping they all feel the same pretty much. I adjust to the nature of the atty. Penelope is very slim, and the mouthpiece is more narrow than Ody, so it tends to heat more.

I think that Strata is by design a warmer/hotter atty. Like someone posted a page or so back, David described it as pre-heating and the whole design is made for a warmer vape. I know that its not Strata or anything wrong with the Strata or design, its me. When I read about any atomizer that interests me first thing I look at is how people set it up. If they enjoy heat and TH. If they are building at higher resistances and mention TH and heat , then I know that its probably not for me.

Odysseus is cooler by design, large surface area inside, wide chimney or mouthpiece, Penelope is the opposite, slim everywhere so it retains heat. KFL is versatile, it has a more narrow and lower chimney, dome, cooler vape higher over the intake , warmer lower over the hole and lower resistance.

I will have to play with it further to see if I can get it to where I can enjoy my wimpy vape.

I wish I could! I can't believe, that I do not own a digital camera! That is just nuts! :)

Bring out your film camera, it will only mean you have to finish the roll before you can develop it, then wait for the processing, prints, then have the neg scanned, put on a CD then upload it to your computer, we can see it in few weeks?

I considered it. But, what a PITA!

I need to just buy a digital. But, then the problem, what one? Of course, I will want a super duper megga whacko one! Then, I will be stupidly hating the fact that I spent a crazy amount of money. That is probably why I haven't done it yet. Nuts! :)

A great mid to low priced camera is the Canon Rebel line, great all around, amazing video capability and of course you can get any type of lenses you want. No need to get too crazy on the price or megapixels, pixels now a days dont necessarily make for a better shot, its the quality of each of those pixels. As a mater of fact Pentax has a beautiful simple auto/ manual camera that looks beautiful, very retro and takes great shots. If you want to go nuts, Im in LOVE with a great new NIkon, cat remember the model, but its a retro style, looks like the classic F series from the 70s, but for the all metal body you pay twice the price. I love it.

Though really, with our hands and in my case, eyes, the Rebel with the amazing flip monitor is great, My Canon 60D is amazing, could not live without the swing monitor. With my back and limited hand movement, shakiness, I have to use a tripod almost all the time and the monitor saves my back.

Don't know. That's why I asked. :)

Do we know what ohms you are running? Personally, I would not be happy with ohms as high as you think you have.

BTW: My coils, are prettier than your coils. :)

And don't forget you'll need a backup camera and then a backup for the backup :)

All the professional photographers tell their wives that all the time :)

Did I just say that? I just realized how sexist that came out. I guess I worked at photo labs for way tool long...... All the pros were 95% men.

Knowing what you know about cameras.....

If money was not an issue, what would you buy?

If it were me, though Im nuts about Canon and I "know it" now, Id either get the new full frame Canon, but Id miss the pull out LED . But, my dad has the new Nikon 7100? Its amazing in it capture of color and detail, I have never seen a raw image on the computer look exactly like the live object right next to it. THe dynamic range it has blows mine away. Unless you really goof up and extremely over/ under expose there is detail. It has a magnesium frame so its strong but not so heavy. Plus he as 1,000s of dollars worth of the best USM lenses that I could use.

But really, Canon FULL frames are great. If they had the swing LED Id stick with it as I can use it without thinking now. I learned on a NIkon.

If you want to get the only Digital Camera Annie Lebowietz uses then the Scarlet Completely Modular, future upgrades to change out , instead of having to buy over and over.

PS. Just looking at the beautiful Scarlet makes me all goose pimply, I had stopped looking a while ago, but seeing her now........ THat and a Malibal portable workstation/laptop

I absolutely reccomend you try everything you can, as ymmv. Not a lot else wicks like ekowool for me, though bamboo is close. Ekowool lasts Far Far longer than anything else excepting Xc-116, which lasts really well too. I prefer the throat hit of Ekowool better than anything I've tried.

I just built a simple single coil in the strata. I used 28g wire with German silica, 5 simple wraps. Lined up the air hole. I am getting plenty of vapor, smooth throat hit and good flavor. I think I like the German silica better than the ekowool. In my opinion it seems to have a cleaner taste. Sometimes it nice going back to the simple builds.

You mention "lining up the airholes" so one of the holes that are on the lower part of the cap? I did a single coil and it didnt seem to have enough vapor and the intensity of the flavour was too intense. I might have to try a lower resistance and see if its better. How are you mounting the coil? low, lower than the edge of the deck or at the same level or above the deck? How would the height affect the TH, heat ?

Yes the air hole on lower part of cap. Lined up right with the single coil. I built a horizontal coil 5/6 wrap with German silica(3mm) and positioned it maybe 1-2mm above deck because I like a warmer vape. I have the coil closer to the posts. I also do like strong throat hits. I am not getting the bad throat hit that you speak of. I use 24mg liquid 70pg 30vg. I also put a small amount of filler material (for fish tank filters or like in spheroid) at the base of the well then run the tails of the silica on top of that. I don't know if it makes a difference but the juice really soaks in. I am no expert, but I have been lucky so far with my coil builds for the strata. I like my builds between .7 ohms and 1.2 ohms. I wish I could explain it better. It took me forever to type this.

I need to say this.........

People are posting, that they are guessing the ohms of their Strata builds. Many are guessing, because they don't have a multi-meter. Guessing, may be all fine and good for those who have built many coils. But, even then, we are using a brand new device, and building 'out-of-the-box' coils. Personally, I don't care how many coils I have built. I will test each and every build, prior to placing on a mod. One bad short, early on, got my attention!

New Builders: Please invest in a multi-meter?

Super-T Family: Please be safe?

I love my Super-T family!

I agree. I've been building coils for about 2 years. No way would I recommend someone fairly new to not test their builds. The strata is the only atty I have that I would need a multimeter for, hence why I have never bought one. In all liklihood I will in the near future. Can't be too safe.

You are 100% right. I always check my ohms and batteries all the time. I have an ohm reader, multimeter, digital meter, 2 good pila chargers, etc. Lately I have been getting lazy and not checking the ohms on my builds. You start to think you can guess at what the ohms will be and that is just stupid! It only takes a minute to do. I find myself being over confident sometimes and that is when things usually go wrong. This post was a good reminder on safety first. This was a good reality check.

I received my Strata today and I have 2 questions..

(1) I know there is machine oil residue left, so what is the best way to clean it.. Alcohol bath? Soap and water bath?

(2) All the SuperT mods/top caps/bottom caps that I have owned have all had silky smooth easy to screw on threads....Until now..!!!
So what gives with the Strata threads, I was barley able to screw it half way on and then when I tried to unscrew it what a effort it was to get loose...I mean tight.. So I did the Noalox thing and was able to get it screwed down almost all the way, but it doesn't seem to get 100% flush with the top of the extension tube...Is that normal? I can bring up the accent ring to get the flush look but shouldn't it screw flush?

Please help me with my concerns as I am not liking the fact that it doesn't screw on easily like every other SuperT thread that I have owned....Someone messed up as I see no reason why the threads are so tight :?:

1) I used Dawn. Plus, I blew the air channels out with my motorcycle dryer. Some flushed them with a syringe. You could also use an air compressor. I believe, getting it out of the air channels is key.

2) My Stratas (6 ELA and 6 Simplicity) screwed onto the mods(flush) with ease. The threads for the Strata tops and bottoms were stiff, and needed some working.

Thanks Cucco. ;)

So after some Noalox and working back and forth it has loosened up...
Both my regular length extension tubes work perfectly...smooth and easy threading with 100% flush fit with the top of the tube.
One of my 18650/Kick extension tubes now threads easily with 100% flush fit now.. The other 18650/Kick extension tube does not..
I found the problem with the one tube that wont let the Strata screw flush.. The threads were not cut as deep into the tube as the other 3... The threads stop at the top of the vent slots where as the other 3 tubes the threads go to the bottom of the vent lots.. David I know it will still fire but I like it perfect.. Is there anything that can be done to correct this issue? New 18650/Kick ext tube or can I send this one in to get threaded deeper?

Built another single coil in my strata tonight. I built a single micro coil measuring at 1.1 ohms using ekowool as my wick. Dry burned the wick then added my juice. I am still getting a funny taste with the ekowool. It is like a slight chemical taste. I use this stuff in my spheroid and bulli atomizers and it tastes fine. Not making sense to me. I like this wick material but it isn't working in the strata for me. This is the third time I tried it. I take a lighter to it, then dry burn and I am still getting that weird taste? I am using 1.5mm ekowool.
