Does that mean that testing is over and that they'll get there soon? Wow, that's good news! I love the kayfun on my ELA, but I can't wait to replace it by a strata!!

It doesn't mean anything really. From what I understand the testers haven't received the updated top cap or whatever revisions Dave was making for them. But I would say that progress is being made!

I sent a P+ back to Super T for refinishing a few weeks ago in hopes the satin finish would match the Satin Strata I pre ordered. I just got this email from Super T:

No guarantees. When I first inquired I was told it wouldn't happen. That's why it's such a nice surprise. It's worth a shot but I wouldn't get your hopes up.

Would the Super-T finishes(satin, polished) not be pretty much consistent across all products of the same material?

Yes but not exact. The satin finish in particular has changed quite a bit from 2 years ago, hence my desire...

Cool! Thanks! Didn't know about the change. I have ordered everything 'polished' from them. I really like 'Super-T Polish'.

Really hope the polished ELA will match the Polished Strata (Im sure they will see to this). It would be a bit odd if it didnt.

I'm curious to see how David and his Chosen Four [edit: Five ] will document their findings. It seems like they have done a huge amount of testing and re-testing to glean as much information as they humanly can! Micro-coils to ribbon-wire, steel mesh to silica to cotton. Positioning, air-hole diameter, chamber size, heat distribution, etc...

That said, I have to say that I am willing to sift through the correspondences (and forum posts after the release)--to catalog, organize, and distill that information into bite-sized chunks.

I'm talking about a solid Strata PDF manual for posterity's sake. While I'm at it, I'll do one for the ELA.

The satin finish varies from time to time depending on the media used. However the polished is done the same way, with the same materials, so no worries about it not matching the polished ELA.

Once testing is done, we can make a separate Strata thread where we can post all of the different configurations that we've tested and provide details as to what gave each of us the best results. The five of us have different vaping styles so I'm sure that we've covered most of what everyone will be looking for.

Ya, I agree on the different vaping styles, which is a good thing because as you said, I think we have covered a ton of different setups and configurations!

We will do up a separate thread with what combo's, settings, wicks, wires etc we found to work best and the testers can feel free to jump in and help anyone who needs help. You may find that one combo that Snork likes may be one that Raq doesn't etc, so you'll want to try them on for size.

As far as status update. We sent the new brass bottom posts in for precious metal plating today and are working on the thumb screws and bottoms this week. Hope to be onto the revised top caps this coming week.

It's subtle, but you can see it by just blowing in through an air inlet hole and watching the vapor come out the top.
