Tinreach: Thanks for the laugh! :)

Hello, my Super-T Family. I have not had a chance to play with my Stratas yet. I have been a bit under the weather, and a little busy. My kitty, who had surgery, has been needing a lot of TLC.

I hope you guys are getting your 'grooves on', with getting your 'builds on'. :)

Hello to the newer friendly new faces I see! Welcome to the family! :)

I ordered a Strata yesterday - specifically because of the "tiff" between David and Scott. Want to see if it's as "bad" as one says - or "good" as the other says.
Regardless - I don't feel that public forums / videos are a place for either parties involved to speak about the other - we don't get the full story so we cannot form a full opinion on the matter. If you takes Scott's opinion, David has been a "....." - if you take David's opinion, Scott is a ".....".
I watched the video - I appreciate what Scott is trying to say, but I feel the message itself is misplaced as he comes off as a little butthurt about his interactions with David. Would have been a stronger message without ANY of the personal commentary.
As far as his overall message regarding the Strata - I don't know a whole hell of a lot regarding fluid dynamics, but figure that I have enough experience vaping to where I will make it work very well. There are also tons of ways to make the kayfun terrific - and tons of ways to make it terrible. If you just want a decent vape without any thought or effort - stick to a clearomizer and be done with it (and there isn't a damn thing wrong with that either). The thought that an RDA should automatically be easy - a no brainer - is definitely over simplification. RDAs have ALWAYS been classified as ADVANCED USER DEVICES - and that goes for the $20 dollar ones as well.
Yes - the Strata is different - maybe it will be difficult to make it work. Are we supposed to stick with "hole in front of coil, insert in face, suck" and call it good - or - try to innovate?

I think you've really made some good points. I believe your point that there are many coil setups for the Kayfun too that would make it vape terrible is spot on. You can make bad coils that don't work for any rba/rda, but that doesn't make them bad rba/rdas, it's just not the proper coil for that particular rba/rda. The Strata is no different.

Extending that thought further, in the video, there is shown a single vertical inboard coil and it is shown how the plastic bottle produces more vapor the Strata top. Well of course it does, that isn't a coil well suited for the Strata's design, a single vertical coil inboard like that is well known to be suited for a side entrance so it should produce more vapor with that single hole side entrance cap. You can do the inverse as well, set up a great coil for the strata, that won't work as well with a side entrance hole.

I didn't want to make just the same old, anyone can do that. I wanted to step outside the box, make something that takes it in a new direction, something that has an integrated truly functioning air control and takes advantage of a 360 degree airflow but it's as though we're being punished for it not having a side hole like all the others and vaping well with X type of coil. I apologize to all the Strata fans for not being more on the ball about having some good tutorials up to get you started, I dropped the ball, but I'm also not going to stop trying to innovate and create new ways of doing things, it's who I am and what I do.

Well, after a few hours of using this I'm pretty darn happy. My batteries however are not, poor things are so old they don't last long anymore. Going to be getting more in stock soon David?

Only two complaints so far. First is the lack of scratches, wear marks, and flaws on the finish. Definitely doesn't go well with my P+, will have to work on that. Second is that this gets pretty darn warm and stays that way for quite a while. Running a 1 ohm ophion, that's normal right? No shorts and all seems fine, just keeps my leg warm when I throw it in a pocket...

If super T isn't going to be getting battery stock in soon...I would suggest lighthound....I know that they have the AW IMRs in stock...and it's the new updated stock (they changed their logo recently to help combat counterfeit batteries)...

Dave, don't you dare stop thinking of innovative designs and ideas! The world needs more people like you who don't just settle for the same ol' same ol'.

+1 I've been to their store in Pearland. Great folks to do business with.

I never realized they were in Texas and had retail stores! Not exactly close for me but next time I'm down that way I'll have to look them up.

Would you expect anything less from me?

I'm still toying with mine, I haven't got it dialed in yet and now I'm trying some crazy stuff just for the fun of it. It's one of those things that's fun just to think out of the box and see how it works. ;)

Yeah, and while expensive...they have this awesome little delrin waterproof battery carrier tube that'll go on a keychain and hold an 18650 battery...and the super cheap, non expanded pop bottle test tubes that'll hold 2 18650s (kept one with an extra 18650, 306 atty and a tiny 3ml juice bottle...as my emergency precise rescue kit for the longest time)...

Thanks David. I've done a recoil on the Strata and my Luxe RDA (a traditional "fat" RDA design).

I've now got my Strata and Luxe coiled the same - NR-R-NR 1.5ohm Ribbon over Voodoo wool. The result? Well from my take, the Luxe produces more vapour (although the Strata IS producing decent vapour), the Strata produces noticeably more flavour (tired old PG tobacco flavour juice by the way) and, with the ribbon as opposed to round wire, the Strata still produces more hit but not as aggressively so as I was getting with wire. The coils are fairly openly wound ("spread out" a bit) and positioned fairly high in relation to the deck. By noting the position of the "P" on the Strata base relative to the coil and the relative offset of the inside holes relative to their corresponding external holes I'm developing the knack of getting the airflow sort of right I think (for my single coil approach I should stress).

Thanks!

I've confirmed that I have the original drip tip on both my Stratas - should I fire you and email for replacements?

Good morning Guruguhan, heres a picture for you, the revised is on the right. I hope your builds go well and if you have any questions, let us know!

So I only have some 33 gauge and 36 gauge Nichrome around (and wick and cotton) - I usually go for a 1.4ohm build on the dripper I usually use. I don't have a meter handy...what kind of build should I go for? (didn't get around to it last night)

Where on the atty do you put the probes of your meter to measure the resistance of the Strata anyways (on my other attys I just use one of those resistance meters with a 510 connection)...
