Is it basically one of these taken apart and modified to fit inside the tank? Or is there a specific ce2 I should be looking at?

They are metal CE2's not clearos and you want 510 thread to fit your ProVari. You take a pipe cutter and cut them 9.9mm from the bottom of the tube.

They are 510. They are the pre-cut ones for the tank. They cost more but you don't have to cut them yourself.

Just a note on cutting the E2 carto's. To end up with 9.9mm I find that I have to mark the carto around 12mm and line up the cutting blade there. When I'm done it measures less, around 9.5-10mm. Is this just happening to me or does anyone else find this to be true?

Personally, I just eyeball it by the CE2 that I am repalcing. I put the new CE2 into the same device you have pictured, then hold the old one close and line it up by best quess. New one, once cut and inserted, works fine, for me.
Pete I think it depends how much you tighten the pipe cuter before turning it. The more you you tighten it the larger the variation from the original mark.

Well if you're using the newer base with the o-ring you need to be fairly accurate. If you cut it too long the CE2 doesn't go all the way in flush which affects how much of the ceramic cup seats into the top. If you cut it too short it will be a little wobbly in there. The cut end of the CE2 needs to .... up against the rim inside the top of the hole in the base to be nice and secure.

Sorry, man I just replaced my polishing wheel. When the old one broke I didn't have the cash to replace it. After making the payment on the CNC I had just enough left to buy a cheap new polishing wheel.
It's ok... I think my friend's dad has a polishing wheel I might be able to use. I have a few parts I'd like to restore a mirror shine to, so a couple more is ok.. more incentive to get my ... over there already and use the thing.
As a mater of fact it is. The picture was right before I stuck it in a box.
