This should be becoming a total embarrassment to Vapor Tek who is now saying they don't expect to receive their first shipment until after other vendors will have received and shipped out their second batches of stock to their customers. Despite their excuses, it smells more like they waited to actually place an order with a distributer until they had received sufficient funds from pre-order commitments to pay for it and now they're caught behind the eight ball. If that's indeed the case, that's pretty low.

I've been vaping on and off with the same Atlantis nic coil in my FreeMax Starre tank for the past 5 days and no issues so far. I've been messing around with the joules and temp with the same juice to find that semi-warm vape I like and found 35J at 520F, reading at 0.189 suits my taste. Stupid question but do you have another coil to try? Have you tried a nickel rda build yet?

Haven't had time to try a nickel rda build yet but have tried two different gct coils.

I've had occasional issues with the "SHORT!" message, in the end I think it happens when you lock in your resistance at a given figure then the resistance of the coil drops below that set resistance, locking resistance again seems to clear it right up.

This actually makes since I will try this real quick

Tried the method of resetting the lock and it still does the short thing

Sorry to hear that. I have a Smok GCT and some of those Ni200 coils. Mine are all used, left out to dry from the last time I used them a couple of weeks ago. I'll dig one out tomorrow and try a vape just in case it's something weird and repeatable with the GCT and/or those coils. I used them without problems on my DNA 40 (clone), so I know it's not generic to the tank/coils. But perhaps something weird can happen in conjunction with the IPV4.

Thinking about what Vooper said - maybe you're getting a poor connection on your GCT. Fluctuating resistance would trigger that issue that Vooper described, and it's not unknown for tanks to do that. The Lemo 1 is famous for it, for example; many people, myself included, had to add an extra o-ring to the 510 pin of the Lemo 1 before it could be used with nickel builds at all, as otherwise the resistance fluctuated too much and the mod wouldn't fire.

So my guess is an issue with the GCT - either yours specifically, or in general with the IPV4; though the latter seems unlikely as I know my GCT worked fine on a DNA 40 clone.

I'll try mine tomorrow. In the meantime you should definitely try a nickel RDA build ASAP.

Almost positive it's not a poor connection issue as I have a usa ohm meter with fat daddy 510 and the tank doesn't show any unnormal fluctuation. Tried a nickel build in my derringer today but that didn't work because the center screw kept breaking the wire since it will just keep screwing in farther and farther. I might be able to try one on my mutation x v2 tommorow.

i have used at least 6 different RDA's so far on my IPV4 and not one problem, i know people are attracted to these RTA's but personally i have never had any use for them other than my Kay-Fun ES 3.1 which i have in hybrid mode on my Nemi and i seldom use it any-more......imo RDA is the way to go on these T.C. devices....but hey it's just my :2c:

It appears temp control is not for me though. Yes it is working perfect at preventing dry hit like it's designed to do but I have it set all the way up at 575 degrees and by my standards it's not even a warm vape. Oh well at least I know now it's working like it should and I still love the mod as just a everyday 100 watt mod for work. Feels great in the hand.

420ish degrees is pretty much the limit for cotton burning, right? If I put dry cotton in and fire it, it starts to brown at around 420 degrees. Does that sound about right to you guys?

I have heard the same ,but I'm sure it will be slightly different with various different types of cotton i.e. japanese, rayon etc ,but shouldn't be by very much.

I have noticed that it really depends on the build. Some builds that would vape warm at a relatively low wattage will not vape warm at all on a TC mod. This has nothing to do with a particular TC mod and more to do with the way TC works. What I have noticed is that at 425 or so I will run my mod for a few seconds before taking a drag.

Well I spoke to gearbest about the bull they pulled by changing the black one to "black with silver". I told them I ordered the black not the silver with black, heck I even linked them the new pics of the black but basically they told me nope you ordered the silver with black.

Kinda sucks and I'll probably still keep it but this is definitely the last time I give my business to gearbests.

So heads up if you ordered black from them you'll probably be getting the silver.

ther problem is they can't buy direct from pioneer 4you- they messed up awhile back and are working to get back in the good graces of the company. so they are using a 3rd party and that slows down their ordering. they will get the privilege back in the future. all this because they sold below what p4you told them to sell for a prior product. it happens and it will cost them for this product but it isn't anything underhanded.....

so i got my ipv4 and my prior idea about TC is now confirmed- it makse a difference for drippers and anyone careless about the level of liquid in their tank. for people vaping with any subohm tank and using the ni200 pre-made coils it really isn't that big a deal. i never got a dry hit with my different tanks-i don't chain vape so quickly that i run them dry and i always keep them fairly full. whatever difference there is between the kanthal wire and the nickel wire. frankly, i can't taste any difference. still, i am glad i got the ipv4 and future purchases will have the feature. for me the improvemrnt will come in the tank/coil side of tc vaping and i am sure there will be advances made for those expecting a large WOW factor i don't think it is there. of course, this is MHO and others may get more out of it. all-in-all it was a long wait for very little or no gain. that's OK because it is what i was expecting anyway and it still is a nice dual battery mod whether you use tc or not.

Yea that's kind of annoying since I vape above 400-420 so I could still get a nice dry hit. I'm on the fence about this nickel/TC now for this reason. I do get a tad bit of different notes from my juice but is it worth it?

It will be nice when we finally get some real info on suggested lower risk vaping temp ranges...so far I am on the fence about TC as a whole...fairly anemic vapor production and cool vapor have been my experience so far. I greatly prefer the regular kanthal variable wattage experience, and I am not a extreme wattage, low ohm build guy...rarely get dry/burnt hits. That said, I do have a VF clone and iPV4 inbound...
