I just tried mine too with several deep lung pulls at 55w on a .2 ohm build..I did not notice any temperature change at all down by the USB port...

I'm really sorry to hear that bro, it certainly sounds defective to me. I would send it back under warranty.Well, I guess mine might be on its way out, if anyone else can leave feedback it will help my case for return if it is in fact defective. This occurs at .58 ohm, 26g kanthal @ 25 watts or higher, The bottom corner where USB is gets burning hot after about 1-3, 2-4 second hits
Its less then a week old, vendor will replace in store most likely, assuming they still have them in stockI'm really sorry to hear that bro, it certainly sounds defective to me. I would send it back under warranty.

My vendor has 30 replacement warranty through them. What was wrong with yours?unless you have an exceptionally good Vendor who is willing to go the extra mile they will want you to deal directly with Asmodus (ipv4) for warranty.....plus they will want video.....already been down this road......my Vendor did go the extra mile w/me and handled it for me....hope the best for ya.
Anyone else's IPV get hot near the USB port while/after a pull? Mine gets hot enough to burn my pinky finger.
That would be where my pinky sits when im vaping roughly, the heat is escaping the usb but heats up the entire corner. Some people have larger handsNope, but I don't think the USB port is for pinky insertion either.
Which atty are you using? 26ga is going to require huge coils to get above the minimum resistance, especially with dual coils. In the Origen build I posted a pic of earlier I used 28ga, 9 wraps around a 2mm bit, I think. Resistance is 0.115 or thereabouts. I put a dual coil Ni200 build in my Billow V2 and used twisted 30ga. 9 wraps on each side (I think) around a 2mm bit and it ohms out at 0.047. Any lower and it likely won't fire.
No... you don't need "huge" coils to get above minimum resistance. In the meaning of "huge" do you in diameter or number of wraps aka length or both?
Try a larger diameter coil, they wick better and no issues of juice supply, I would recommend no smaller than 3mm, 3.5mm is better.
26ga. Nickel is so much easier to work with compared to the 28ga. The coils are much sturdier, easier to space properly and hold their shape better too.
The cotton wicking doesn't distort the coil nearly as easily vs 28ga. wire.
IMHO dual coiling is a waste of time in the TC arena. It's just not necessary. In the reviews on YouTube you'll tons of vapor being produced with single coil setups in
TC mode. It seems the standard procedure is to go with a single coil when using TC mode.
In TC mode a larger ID single coil is the way to go as the juice has a much easier path to the coil and more wire surface area to heat the juice.
Think about it; larger coil ID means larger wick with more fibers conducting the juice to a larger surface area of coils equals more juice be vaporized.
As a matter of fact I get just as much vapor, warmth and flavor, if not more with a 3.5mm ID coil @ a 9/10 wrap with 26ga. Nickel and Ko Gen Do cotton wicks.
However if you wanted to try a dual coil setup with 26ga. nickel wire; Steam Engine recommends the following:
3.5mm ID coil with 26ga nickel would be two coils of 11/12 wraps or 11 full wraps depending on the coil head screws.
This will give you a 0.06 ohm resistance. The coil isn't that lone either may 3/8" at most with a very slightly spaced coil wraps.
I cancelled my GB order. tired of the waiting. and to be completely honest I've lost interest in it!
I don't necessarily disagree but some attys preclude the use of large ID coils or ones with 12 spaced wraps. Also, some can't run in single coil mode. My Billow is an example of both conditions - dual coil only and there's no way I'm fitting big 3mm 12 wrap spaced coils in it.
Will the IPV4 fire a 0.06 build in TC mode?No... you don't need "huge" coils to get above minimum resistance. In the meaning of "huge" do you in diameter or number of wraps aka length or both?

Well I'm glad to hear you got it resolved ...[emoji4] I think the silver looks cool too.Ok, so my IPV4 was defective. Excess Heat coming from the USB area is not ok, Something else that started happening was the OHM meter was all over the place. It was slowly moving toward burning itself it. Anyone else that has this issue, return your device ASAP. Today I started smelling plastic in the battery compartment, VS replaced without any issue. They did not have black, but did give me the option to wait till they got them in stock to replace. I chose to get a silver unit instead.
I am so glad I didn't order from Gear Best! I have seen and heard rumors about them anyway. I have done business in the past with 101 Vape in Carlsbad, CA.
They're fast and have always shipped same day when the order is placed by Noon Pacific Time. My Black iPV4 will be here tomorrow, Friday the 12th.
If anyone else is looking try 101, they have both colors in stock. (No I was not compensated for this endorsement!)
