After spending some time on this forum it appears a lot of people spend a lot on esmoking. I would like to know if you think this is cheaper than a analog habit? I was a heavy smoker for the last 36 years and was buying a carton every 4 days. I know, I'm bad. I just started the ecigs a week ago and have cut my analogs down considerably. The last carton I bought was on March 1 and I still have 2 packs left. Much better! But with everything you have to buy, is this going to be cheaper?

I think it can be once you find your groove. Personally, I will buy a few devices, figure out which one I like the best and stick to it until something comes along and proves to be robust in both quality and performance. Then there's the juice...cheap compared to cigarettes, especially since both tobacco companies and the government are addind about $14 per carton. I've spent about $300, and for me that's about a month an a half's worth of cigarettes at $50 per carton. I think I've probably got about 4-6 month's worth of e-cig parts and liquid (on the way...I currently have about $100 worth of items on me at the moment and I should easily get two weeks out of it).

I can honestly say that it hasn't been cheaper than smoking analogs, thus far.

All of the upfront costs of e-smoking can really run up, and, for a lot of people (myself included), you're always looking for the next, big thing.

I built a new battery pack for my 901, so I'm hoping that my costs go down a bit in the future. Now I've just got to maintain a stockpile of atomizers, and a spare battery or two down the road. I like that better than constantly worrying about atomizers AND batteries. lol

Once I get the equipment costs under control, I'll be able to focus on periodically resupplying with liquid, which is definitely affordable.

Only with mods. I am sure about that. The only you have to concern is the liquid. (and the atomizers). If you destroy 2 atomizers per month, you need 10*12=120 euro for them and if you inhale 5 ml per day (heavy enough user) its about 60 euro per month or 720 per year. So 60+720 is about 850 euro per year.

We add the cost of mod, about 100 euro so 1000 euro total

In Greece, the 20 analog's packet has 3 euro, a heavy user needs 2 packets per day, so 6 euro per day, 180, per month, 2160 per year.

You all see the diference

I smoke a pack a day. Here a pack costs $8.36 (probly going up soon, too)

So I imagine e-cigs will be crazily cheaper in the long run. just the initial purchases cost a bit getting all the stuff, usually 2 or 3 types of e-cig to find out what you prefer, etc. But after that all you need to get is juice and atomizers and some batteries now and again (not too many if you mainly use a usb passthrough though).

I have to agree. Start up and finding the device you want will cost you at first, but in the long run I'll be saving money. I think I have found the device I enjoy the most (the Bada Bing cigar from puresmoker) and will probably trade or sell my others so I can get atomizers and juice for my Bada Bing.. Now that I know what I am going to use personaly, it's just batteries, atomizers, and juice I will have to worry about, and that will be a total of about $75 a month for me as apposed to a pack and 1/2 of analogs at $4.86 a pack. Sounds like a deal to me.

Guys another concern. You said batteries, juice and atomizers. With mods you eliminate batteries and the most important: The switch.

If its automatic will fall down soon. If its manual it will fall down a little later but soon. You must buy another cigarette. So its a big cost if the unit is expensive and you have to wait to get another one. Hope not go back to analogs waiting for the new device

Exept all that, the big battery MODS have are one important think yet. You will not charge and charge and charge all the time.

Well for me it has been a lot cheaper, HOWEVER i did start e-cig about 2 1/2 months after giving up the urge was returning to often when i was enjoying a beer or 6. So i bought Njoy starter at the time about $100 and some bak up carts total i think $125. Then i bought about $40 worth from Puresmoker.

I have just reordered from there giving me a total spend in just over 9 months of $200.... btw my atomizer lasted 8 1/2 months .... i used it everyday but i generally only used at night for maybe 15 puffs unless i was boozing.

I am 100% confident it has been the extra crutch to stop the ciggie pack entering my life again. Looking forward to my order from Pure as it has 2 atomizers as my old one packed in 10 days ago.

You had the same thing as me! I have up early too and missed the cigarettes before finding the e-cig! It made things less complicated tho since I no longer had the chance to cut back.

I have saved a LOT of money meanwhile. You do have to be careful about what you buy (do your research first, not after... don't let yourself be carried away by the urge to buy every new shiney that shows up on the forums; and have a little bit of luck, though researching first will help that luck along well) - but if you take it one step at a time and keep those rules-of-thumb in mind - then you can save a lot if you were buying expensive cigs before; and some less but still some if you were a heavy-smoking RYO-smoker for instance. I'm saving 150 dollar each month, on average... lot of things you can do with that... (like still be able to pay your other bills that are sky-rocketing, lol...)
