Says the man that bought X2 Provari's.
When I bought my Provaris mid September 2014 I had I think 8 eGo batteries that I had used since I started vaping 3 months earlier. And I was in the habit of picking up a new battery or two any time I was in a Vape shop or if I saw something interesting online. And most of them were in some state of starting to have a problem.
So I started thinking about how many more eGo batteries I would buy, or if I would upgrade to something else (and back then there were not the options we have now, I might do it differently now, knowing what I know and all). And I realized that the next step up would be "Chinese Junk" that would probably be disposable, but instead of paying $10-$15 for eGo batteries I was about to get into the $20-$50 range, and how many would break on me and not do what I wanted.
So I decided to try the "buy once for life" strategy and bought the two Provaries. I wanted two because even a Provari can fail, be broken (although not easy) or be lost or stolen.
The two Provaris were the last mods I bought for almost 6 months, until early June when I decided I wanted to try higher wattage mods (I was limited to 14W on my Provaris). And I was heavily into vaping, the following month I got into DIY. And later into RDAs, and RTAs.
How many people here, who are doing more than a basic quit smoking eGo type setup, can say that they went 6 months on only two mods? Not many. Now, I spent about $400 on my Provaris, including tube extensions, 3 different size batteries, and a total of 9 batteries.
But since I quit smoking July 31 2014 I have never gone a single minute without a working vape, for any reason at all. And my Provari uptime has been 100.0000000%. They have never failed to fire, except when a topper had a problem (open or short or something gunked up). And I have not had even one puff on a cig in almost a year now. And I never had more than 6 active toppers in order to maintain that 100% uptime.
I'm not saying that it is not possible to have done it a little cheaper, but very few people here have gone even 6 months spending only $400 on mods. All I see here are pictures of tables full of mech mods, box mods, every sort of mod.
If I had to do it over, having the selection available back last September, I would have done the same thing again, I think. In retrospect I am happy with my strategy, from a cost standpoint, and it was a well thought out strategy after vaping for about 3 months. Because otherwise I would almost certainly have spent just as much money buying every new mech mod or box mod that came on the market, just to try to keep my 100% uptime requirement.
