KathyD, that Melon sounds interesting. I've found myself moving away from tobacco flavored a lot recently. I still use it but like the Wintergreens and Mint. Of course with snus tastes are subject to change over time.

RoseB, another thing you have to consider is volume. I was a 2-3 PAD smoker and now I'm a 4-5 portion snus user with maybe a ml or so of nicquid/WTA liquid a week and, if I get the anxiety thing going or just feel like it, a pinch of nasal snuff. There's just no comparison. If vaping is working for you, limit yourself to that.

Thanks for the advice. To be honest the first few days I used a couple pieces of nic gum. It's been about 2 weeks since I quit the smoking & started vaping. Snus wasn't something I could do. It would just make me want a "real" chew bah. My husband wont use nicotine gum so I am thinking about getting him to try the Swedish snus. Once again sorry for the rage-on

    Somewhere between here and there
Rose, no harm done. Everyone is entitled to an opinion. I did fine on vaping alone for about eight weeks. It wasn't until then that I started craving something else that was missing and felt myself sinking into depression. I knew I had to do something or I would have been straight back to smoking. My first portion of snus was like someone turning on a light in a dark room. I was smoking about 30 cigarettes a day before and now vape about a ml of liquid and use around 6-7 portions a day.

I know when I first started researching THR I had compete and utter cognitive dissonance with the realization that chew was actually less harmful (statistically) than cigarettes. We've had it drilled into us for so long that all forms of tobacco are as harmful as cigarettes. It took me a while to accept the evidence that some are dramatically less harmful than cigarettes. Of course, that doesn't mean that they are 100% safe to use. There is a continuum of risk.

With a lot of reading and reading and reading, I gradually came to accept that snus was very low on the risk scale. We are not sure where vaping fits in quite yet, but based on common sense I'd place it somewhat safer than snus. I do think that (Swedish) snus is a great option for harm reduction. If that's what someone has found curbs their cravings in a way that the gum, lozenges, and patches dont, I'd strongly encourage them to keep with it rather than going back to cigarettes.

I use snus very rarely, usually on long car trips or vacations when I don't want to be vaping around my kids (not a safety issue, just a behavior modeling issue- for ME). For the most part vaping satisfies my needs, but the snus is a good option for those times and much cheaper than the gum.

I don't vape around my kids either. I don't want them to learn a smoking type behavior. I hope they never touch any kind of nic product.

I've always smoked and vaped in front of my kids and it didn't phase them. All they ever did was look longingly at me if they wanted to get fed, be taken out to do their business or have me throw a ball for them.
