hell yeah its cheaper! lol
was paying nearly $9 a pack here in Ct, smoking a pack and a half a day.
once I got all the goodies to vape with and trying out numerous juices, time to start counting the saved $$!!
im no math wizard, but I can say its cheaper.

Its a learning curve finding out which products are crap, and which retailers are a bit dodgy - but unless you're one of the show offs who like to fill the local pub with a huge plume of vapour, the economics are pretty sound.

I'm saving a lot of money....

BUT, I'm spending my savings on stuff like:

New seat covers for the truck, because hey, it's so clean now and I won't be burning holes in them

Gas for longer road trips to see places that I've wanted to go but never had enough gas money for

Toys and junk for the grandkids - especially chocolate junk, because their parents love when I give them chocolate

Food in the fridge that I can actually taste, that is something I never remember since I started smoking when I was 11

At $120 bucks a week for me and the hubby to smoke cigarettes? I think I'm making out pretty good. Even with the startup costs for the equipment (and I'm positive I'm not done there ) and the expense of the coils and juices, I'm in the black.

I know in my new user post I was all about getting a new car, but I think that may have changed for the short term.

If I hit a glitch, I know I will be able to find someway to keep on vaping.....all I'll ever get out of smoking is a bad smell, an empty wallet, and a coffin. :2c:

For me (and me alone) vaping has been somewhat cheaper than smoking. But...

The journey from ineffective cigalikes 2 years ago to today with a stable of mechs and a Hana DNA30 has not been inexpensive either.

My progression was from NJoys and Blu to Kanger EVODs to 15w Chinese regulated mods to mechs and now a 30w regulated device.

From disposable cartridges to rebuildable drippers and Kayfuns with a bunch of CE4's and EVODs in between, I am about even now regarding tobacco expenditure and vaping expenditure.

That said, I am now not buying ineffective, semi-disposable equipment. That is why i am starting to break even.

I have half a dozen RDA's and another half a dozen Kayfun style atomizers. I don't need to buy replacement coils or cartos anymore. A coil lasts months in my rebuildables. I have 500 feet of rayon for wick and hundereds of feet of kanthal.

I buy new atomizers now as toys.

The hobby aspect of vaping is more expensive for me than the nicotine replacement aspect for me now.

But, at least now, I have a tackle box of shiny toys instead of a full ashtray of butts.

No cigs since January now. Also not looking back at my learning process as expensive either. It is what it is = A learning process and I am ok with that.

I have wasted much more money on juice I don't like than on equipment however.

I use cheaper juice for my all day vape and have some "premium" juice around for treats now.

Buying good but inexpensive juice in bulk works well for me now.

MBV Moo Juice and Udderly Nutz...

Steam Juice Jerry Juice and Vanilla Custard..

In bulk, these work out to be less than $.30 a ML.

Completely happy with my current stable of devices. That part took a while but I am finally there!

Though I have spent somewhere around $600 since I started vaping two months ago, I don't consider that a lot. It's fun learning all about it. The best thing though is I haven't purchased any cigarettes and that has lead to my losing my cough and getting my taste buds back.

Besides, since I retired, I need a hobby.

I just found my first receipt from my initial trip to my local B&M, from back in May (all I need to say is the month I think). Since then, I have dropped way more than I would like to admit, though I am a compulsive person by nature. Buying authentic mods is certainly not cheap, and I would venture to say between the last 3 I bought, I probably have spent at least $700 on just mods (atomizers are another story yet  ) in about the past month...

Though I am happy with my setups and MAY just be able to hold out on spending much more on mods in the near future.

If these buggers last me a year or two (which I do not see why they will not), and all I spend $ on is juice, wire, and possibly batteries when time comes, I should be way ahead of my $420 a month cigarette habit (~2 PaD B&H @ ~$7/pack here in SoCal).

My wife smoked a pack a day when she started to vape. That worked out to about 40 a week. We have spent 80 the last two weeks in upgrades and flavors. So thats about equal to what she was smoking. I was spending about 30 a week on analogs. 60 saved so far. We are trying to keep are vaping purchases around the same price as are smoking habbits. So far so good. We are geting her a new 1100 mah battery this week and im picking up a third tank in as many weeks. We will be done with major purchases after that. So our total savings will start to climb. Shes happy im happy. As long as you set a budget to start with the savings will start to add up.

That bit hasn't worked out so well for me - now I can taste food, I've noticed how revolting most meat tastes.

Either that or we all got used to horse meat until the nefarious abattoirs got caught.

I am ahead, as time goes on I will be way way ahead. I broke even (yet again) but I am sure I will buy another variable watt mad and a rebuildable dripper at some point...... probably sooner than later.

I think once one settles into their gear they can't lose.

As said before, I have a pile of Spinners five clearo's in service and a couple still in the boxes. Just got a Vamo, Nitecore charger and 4 Efest batteries. I have a PILE of shiney instead of over a thousand useless stinky cigarette butts.

Aside from the monetary aspects I feel a hell of a lot better. With the addition of the Vamo set up my seemingly endless urge to buy stuff is subsiding a little. At some point I will stop comparing my new hobby habit to the cost of my old cigarette habit and just look at the money as REAL money instead of what almost seams like I am getting free stuff.

Edit to add: Between my wife and I If we were to always spend my cigarette money on vaping I could go 3,000 dollars a year.

I've been vaping for 336 days (not quite a year lol) according to my Quit It App I've saved about $504 so far by not smoking analogs. I've put in about $200 in start up costs for vaping. A lot of that was trial and error. Now that I have a set up I love and about 5 15ml juices bottles that I rotate my average cost a month is 0. I don't even vape that much just when I get the urge too. If you're making into a huge hobby then yeah it's going to cost you. If you're doing it just to quit smoking and you do your research your start up costs shouldn't be that bad.
