So just finished wrapping my 1st ever nickel builds, can see what people meaning nickel is a lot softer, 1st few coils ended up in the trash, but after a few tries got the hang of it, only thing concerns me is changing out the cotton, don't want to have do a new coil every time because wreck the coil getting the cotton out.

On my ohm meter, it read 0.12, on the evic seems to be staying steady at 0.09ohms, did 7 maybe 8 wraps around a 2.5mm rod.

As not really used TC, not really sure what settings for temp and watts, but getting good flavor and vapor with it set at 420F/35watts.

Well it just craped out on me. Not registering any of my atties and it's stuck on .70 ohm with out anything on there. Tried turning it off and on, modes to no avail. Damn.

Try pushing on the 510 pin with a screw driver a few times... It's possible something like a metal shaving got stuck in there

I'll be getting two more VTs in vape mail today or monday. Hope they're as good as my first one. I'm a little worried now.

It would be easier to find what is being done wrong.
Look at your coil.... Any dark spots on the wick? Could be a sign of a coil short/arcing.... It's really easy to think your coils are spaced well and have one touching underneath (for perfect spacing, I wrap my coils on a machine screw)

Lots of peeps complain about tc not working properly only to find out later it was their build or intermittent connectivity within their atomizer. Tell us more about your setup, build and symptoms. Odds are the source of the problem is not the VT.

Been doing the rebuilds for almost 2 years now and can tell a bad coil easily. Anyhow, after tinkering with settings the VT is being pretty constant at 30-35 W with same Ni200 coil reading now at 0.12 ohm. Vaping at 420F, refilled the Subtank Mini twice already and didn't had the resistance issue. Maybe the high wattage was screwing things up .

I use the Coil master 2.5mm and then stretch the coil to space it out. Just ordered 30 AWG Ni200 wire to try higher resistance coil. I am limited by the Mini deck on the size for coils so with TC coil I can't fit more than 7 wraps spaced.

I've noticed a considerable amount of expansion in the nickel coils, was having some short out when fired, even though they ohmed perfectly otherwise. Usually this would happen when one of the wraps would expand enough to touch the leg... It would give me resistance too low and drop out of tc.

This is good info, maybe the end leads of the coil get to close when coil expands.

I like the VT but mixed feelings about the TC side. When it works is a good vape but if I put it down for a few minutes goes berserk, TC kicks in and vape is super weak. Only workaround is to remove the atomiser and hope that the APV will allow to be reset. I hope they had implemented a way to force reset without removing the atomiser.
In VW mode works really good with Kanthal so I might drop the whole TC thing for now.
Worst part is that now they will correct the issues we have and I get stuck with current firmware.
It has absolutely nothing to do with the firmware or the mod. It is the tank you are using. Get rid of the Subtank and switch to an Atlantis with a nickel coil. When I was using a Subtank on it, the resistance wandered all over the place. One minute it would vape fine, I put it down and the next time I pick it up, I have to increase the temp setting anywhere from 50-80 degrees higher just to get any vapor at all. Once I stopped using the Subtank Mini and switched to using the Atlantis 2 with a nickel coil, all those problems went away. I have been using the same Atlantis 2 tank with the same nickel coil for three weeks on the evic-VT and it has been rock solid. It vapes exactly the same today as it did three weeks ago and every day in between.

Would be helpful if you shared what you did good and whatnot. ...

Yeah , just a problem here , using pre-made coils and pay for them is against my religion :)

That's been my experience... It's why I scrap any build that drops out of tc.

Current coil still going strong so maybe it shifted somehow and no more sparking or other shenanigans.
I will wait till my AWG get's to me on Tuesday and build some smaller coils making sure there is enough space for expansion left.
Just to clear it out , the atty wasn't dropping to VW , just showing a different res every 5 minutes. Now is rock solid at 0.12 ohm. Vaping the heavy juices like Bobba's Bounty or El Kamino was never that flavourful.
