I had success with the CLR heads on the mega one tank with the mini vtc, so after all this time with the VT60, I actually purchased the matching tank, love the mod even more, and even though have the new mini, the full size is still in daily rotation still :)

that “30w burst” on my v1.18 firmware model
was wrecking havoc with my 1.5Ω coils at 8-10w
so it drove me to using TC more…

one notices NOT when the board samples
    while in TC mode…

TC is working just fine & dandy for me,
just not sure if I prefer it over VW/kanthal...

(In general post as I don't have a VT)

I initially felt this way too, until I was trying to lung inhale some 12mg juice. I kept turning the wattage down but was still getting super harsh hits, switched to TC with the same coil (SS430 so it can do either), still harsh...turned temperature down to 400F and it smoothed right out.

This made me a firm believer in the value of TC.

I also believe my juice is stronger than 12mg but I have no way to test, it's Pink Rabbit which is supposed to be smooth..it is harsh as all get out @ supposedly 12 nic.

anyone tried to rebuild the ego one CLR? Original is titanium. Can use kanthal to do 0.5ohm? And can dry burn with the evic mini?

Yes the CLR is meant to be rebuildable. Yes you can use kanthal at whatever ohms you want (within limits of the device). Yes you can dry burn in VW mode or TC mode with the temp turned way up.

    you betcha

the CLR coils are a dream to rebuild
the ‘stock’ CL coils are vertical
while the CLR coils are horizontal

Joye DOESN’T make a ‘TC’ CLR in Ni (only Ti)

the stock CL coils have small juice hole openings
where the CLR coils allow much larger juice intake openings

you can even tear apart the CL coils, but,
probably best to rebuild them vertical (if you’ve a mind to)

any metal of your choice will work to wrap the wire

the .5Ω and the 1.0Ω coils have different size air openings
    center pins - - .5Ω/3.5mm ~ 1.0Ω/1.8mm

get some wire. cotton and build the ultimate coil(s)
    Good Luck

A little update: Over three months now using three Evics VT60's with three SubTank minis with 24g Ti builds. Temp set to 490-510°f depending on juice and wick density. Power set to 45w. These rigs just continue to work flawlessly and hover around 32w avg while vaping in Temp Control. The Evics never hickup and the STminis never leak a drop. I really couldn't be more happy with their performance.:)

Or are you using more power, different wire, vaping more, longer draws..

The only way to be sure is record the mode, wattage and the hit and puff time counters to have an accurate comparison.

My time has gone down but I've also increased the load on the batteries.

I have my statistics recorded here in the thread.. I will run a comparison soon to see the difference.

Previous 2 run time results when new..

    Previous comparable
    .75 kanthal
    At 35-40w
    734 puffs
    1266 seconds
    (1.75 seconds per puff.)

    2 1/4 days

Now after 4 months all day everyday use.

.81 ss in ti mode at 310° 45w. (300-340 sometimes.)

    35-42w during vape most times
    654 puff
    1208 seconds
    (1.85 seconds per puff)

So while there are different variables and my vaping may have been slightly different, but it seems to have declined some. But it still lasted me almost 21/2 days.

I won't use my other ti example because it was my first temp control coil, and in ti mode the temp was lower than my normal vape.

@JeremyR , what type of ss are you using? I'm currently testing twisted 28g 430ss .36 ohm with my vt in Ti mode. Pretty nice vape.

Testing Evic Vt60 Ti mode running 430ss.

Been vaping on my STmini for two days with my twisted 28g 430ss 6wrap .36ohm build wicked with kgd. Pretty good vape. Flavor is as good as single strand Ti but I expected it to be better. Thing is, I can't dial the temp in as accurately as Ti because the Evic goes from anemic vapor output at 220°f to hot vapor output at 240°f because of the difference in tcr curves. 230°f is where I'm at now. If the evic had 5°f increments for temp adjustments twisted 430ss would probably beat single strand Ti for flavor.

Jury's still out on how many times I can get "like new" performance with twisted 430ss after dryburning. My record for Ti stands at 21 (7watt) dryburns over 3 months and still going strong.

    Yeah 28g ss430 single coil at 3mm for .81.

It started at .81 but climbed to .84 and started jumping out of ti mode. (vapes good in VW mode, nice thing with ss.)

I checked the screws and messed with the coil, pushed legs back against the screws, and its held at .81 and hasn't jumped out since.

I think it was coil problem or it could be that the ohms at .84+ was too high for it to recognize a tc coil. being a slightly different tcr for stainless than ti, and it hits 1 ohm to quickly for it to recognize it as a tc coil maybe or something like that.

I'm running my stainless .81, single coil only, at 45w & 300-340°f in ti mode with Rayon. 310 is a pretty good middle ground

For stainless I found the range to be from 280-340°f in ti mode.

Edit- I'm going to confirm cold ohms and reset atty.

My first ss coil as referenced above.

    21 dry burns.. Crazy.

I don't even need to dry burn, I heat just to burn off the carbon layer every couple months when i rewick with Rayon.

Also that was with kanthal single coil at 35-40w...

I grew tired of forgetting about the “30watt” burst
and it would fry my 1.6Ω coil, leaving me with an overall burnt :nah:
so I switched to TC on the VT exclusively
    Ti / .55Ω / 42w / 410° (eGo One mega/CLR)

after prolonged use, I can say I am surprised that:
battery lasts longer, juice lasts longer and the whole experience
is ‘less’ harsh ; more satisfying…

flavor maintains – TH stays the same – gunk build up inside the drip tip
has disapeared (the clear glass one) - coil seems to last longer

    rock soild, consistant, pleasurable
I am surprised and pleased at the same time

I think my style is slowly changing too…
think I am getting “more” out of what I already was using
therefore, I do not need to continue to ‘non stop’ vape
a few puffs here-n-there gets the job done
(hence maybe why the battery/juice lasts longer)

    side note:
    I can just unscrew this tank and place it on the TC40W;
by just increasing temp maybe 10°- 20°
    get the same results…

VT Software for upgrading eVic-VTC Mini
Compatible with eVic-VTC Mini the software to upgrade firmware of device to 1.20 Version is now available. The former 1.10 Version was added with the Dynamic Resistance and Dynamic Current Output, which is really cool, fun and easy to use. While the new 1.20 Version supports language of English and this time we enable you to upgrade the output to 75W, making it a real powerful mod. The V1.20 Update Firmware Package also includes the former V1.10 and V1.02.
