Hi all...new to this thread and to TC mods. I have a problem...I built a nickel coil for an ST Mini OCC coil. 28 gauge Ni, 8 wraps and it came out to .12. I put it on an eVic-VT at 31.5W and even at 600 degrees the vape is still way too cool. I'm getting plenty of vapor and flavor just not warmth..what do I need to do? Thanks!

Check the Evic's settings. If by chance you are in Ti mode, what you are experiencing is expected. Do make sure you are set in Ni mode.

Look in a mirror while vaping to see whether or not the vt is going into temp protect mode. It should. If it doesn't, turn up the wattage setting until it does. If it's too hot of a vape or goes burny on you then turn the temp down. I run my nickel occ coils in my STm at 55w and about 530°f.

It's in the Ni mode..

Yep! It does. Do I need to turn the wattage up?

It's been discussed here. It's very finicky when building on a subtank especially on the version 1 tank.

Well my eVic has been performing flawlessly the last 3-4 days with the most unstable tank I own! (Counterfeit Erlkönigin with a lame 510 that absolutely won't stay steady on my DNA or my borrowed Yihi)

I've got a single 28awg Ti coil in it, so of course the temp is ridiculous (60watts@580°) but the resistance has remained steady. The first day it started the "same coil/new coil" crap, but then it settled down and has remained consistent! (Lovin it)

I still don't know what to think of this device, but I'm looking forward to what the updated firmware has to offer! (I'll send this thing back in a heartbeat if they get the Ti coefficient right, and with the issues I've been having, I won't feel bad about it at all!)

The VT is ridiculously stable with my 3 STmini rbas. One a KA1 build, one with Ni200 and one with Ti-G1. It's kind of a toss up for me between the ni and ti builds for flavor. Maybe the ti edges out the ni a tiny bit but the ti makes a sturdier coil for sure. I am on my 4th dryburn and rewick on this ti coil with no signs of wire surface pitting, scale or deterioration. 200ml of nasty net juice vaped and going strong.

I wound up switching it back to the rba. Now, the warmth is as it should be. Thanks all!
Your problem was the occ wasn't wicking fast enough, so tc was hitting too early... Something I've noticed a lot in the occ heads..... Pull out that cotton and throw some rayon in there :p

Thanks! I'd have to find someone to drill them though. I wonder how hard it would be?
With a pair of pliers to hold them steady and a cordless drill w/ a 3mm bit you could have all 30 drilled out in less than 10 minutes. The material is quite soft. Try a couple, nothing to loose with that many lying around huh?

So true! I'll have to pick up a 3mm drill bit. Thanks!

Lynn harbor freight sells a "dremel" tool for $10 that has all the bits you would ever need. There is also a cylindrical 3mm diamond coated bit that rips right through the plated brass that the heads are made of. The tool is OK, but I have had great success modding my rdas with it so IMO it was $10 well spent.

As for disassembling the head use a pair of slip joint pliers and clamp right under neath the top cap seam. Then use a second set to clamp right above the seam. Give the top a twist and it should work it self off after a few twists. This will save the head from destruction and ensure you still have a decent press fit with the top and bottom sections.

Wire and wick like a normal protank, evod, et al and vape on.

I did both my stock coils with ni200 and they are fantastic. I am about to enlarge my juice ports on the rba section as I feel they need a little more flow.
