What's your favorite setup so far with the new hemp?

Only have 4 set up. Fogger, Rocket, RSST, and an IGO=L, all are working great but if I had to choose it is a toss up between the first two. IMO Their small chimney gives a better vape than others with large caps. Looking forward to a Russian I have coming.

I really like my Russian, and looking forward to trying the vertical hemp build. I have a Taifun GT showing up any day now so I will be very happy if the vertical hemp builds perform well.

Beautiful BJ!

I have to say the veritcal coil with cotton in my russian is the most flavorful vape I have ever had, its ridiculous. I don't give the russian any credit, because on a horizontal coil set up it was just meh for me, like a penelope without juice flow control (which is effectively what it is right?). It's all that vertical open coil!

Really interested in this hemp fluff you have! If its as moldable as cotton wrap and burn resistant as the hemp I know its the ideal material to use. I also have a DID set up with a horizontal nano coil, cotton wrap around the OD of the coil, sitting on a SS wick. Obscene vapor and it wicks just as well as anything I've ever tried. I had to drill out the airhole to 1.6mm so as to not choke to death lol.

I'm going to look into some hemp fluffies tonight! Don't buy it all guys!

BJ, how often do you anticipate needing to change out the hemp?

That's the one thing I love about ceramic and hate about cotton.

The way I set mine up is that I wrap a little hemp around the coil, then two clumps on each side where the juice feeds in. The small amount around the wick should be good for a week or ten days. I take off the clumps, unwrap the gunked piece around the coil and discard, dry burn, rewrap just the coil area, reinstall the two clumps.

Cyrus, it is as moldable as cotton. I agree with you these vertical coils with all the air going thru them are unbelievable. :)

I think the coil orientation + it being 'wickless' in the center really gives you all you can get from a bottom air system. That plus the compression from the outer wick that creates that vapor jet also makes the thing ridiculous.

Bap I don't have the fluffy hemp yet but with cotton I'm up to 23 mls or so and its still going strong.

Well, my Love Pedal hemp vapemail is due today. Been using other hemp twine in horizontals for months now, so now that I finally get around to ordering some, I see BJ has found hemp wool for verticals. Sigh:facepalm:

And Bap, to second Cyrus's longevity experience, I'm yet to change the packing in any of my verticals including the original which I don't plan on pulling until the 30ml bottle is gone.

Ok, I now have 6 hemp fiber setups Rocket (cheap Russian clone), Fogger2 clone, RSST, and 3 RDAs.
In first place is the Rocket with the Fogger a close second. Both of these have vertical nano 28g coils and all the air is sucked thru the hollow coil and the small chimney reduces condensation and cooling, I am convinced this is the best setup I have ever vaped.

The RDAs with 28g nanos horizontal open end sitting in hemp fiber work great but nothing like the above.

The RSST with a hemp wick and a 28g nano open end, slanted with the hemp wrapped around the outside of the coil works as good, even little better than a regular Ao setup.

So I am very happy with the hemp fiber. What is more important was discovering this vertical hollow wick setup. It is all in the engine and this vertical coil is a high power turbine. Looks like the gennies go back in retirement.:) Will be looking at all my Odys, Pennys , Terminaters to see if they can be modded for vertical coil. Very important that the air enter directly into the bottom of the hollow coil.:)

So I'm sitting here browsing the web, while my wife is mixing me up a delicious shake in the blender and it occurs to me...wonder if I dumped some twine in that thing with some water. Might have some hemp wool after all. Have to wait till she falls asleep though. Said she'd smack me if I put rope in her blender.

BJ, is this how it's done for virtical micro coil setup for EVOD/VAPEONLY/PROTANK head?

Untitled.jpg

I've tried above and the other way around too on my vapeonly head, but I'm keep getting short and can't figure it out.

That is how I do it... Force that positive wire off the side, you are getting a short because the positive leg is touching the wall somewhere...Maybe your coil diameter is to large, I use a 1.5mm drill bit to wrap mine.

Also ck where you cut the wire on the bottom of the 510 connecter, I once left a little wire sticking out on the positive and it was shorting when screwed in. Hope you resolve it.:)

I'm glad you said that, now I'm not so depressed about having no AO experience! What I've done, just in case I didn't mention it, is use a SS wick to come up from the tank and press right under the nano coil/cotton wrap. This is like rebirth of genesis for me. Not as good as the Russian/vertical set up as BJ said, but still really damn good. The video isn't incredibly clear, I blame IOS7 for compressing my videos when I don't want it to, but I think you can see what I'm saying. And sorry I know this is the hemp thread, just pretend that cotton wrap up top is fluffy hemp :)

(click...)

EDIT: And man this thing WICKS...in case that wasn't obvious :)

The Fogger and the Russian with vertical wicks are awesome. One note, they need a lot of watts to really perform at their peak. Being completely wet and all the air passing thru the coil can really cool then down and reduce vapor. I am vaping at 14 to 15 watts and more on the DNA. The more watts I give them, more vapor they put out. Took one up to 30 watts on a 10amp DIY mod and it was not giving any burnt flavor.:)

The Gennies and the RDAs with the nano open end coil work great but once you put a big cap on it and the airflow is around the coil area and not thru it, you lose the turbo effect.

So I unwrapped my Russian after about 30mls and man that wick had some major GUNK on the inside (outer diameter of coil). But no burning, as it pretty much washed off.

Unfortunately when I pulsed the coil I noticed it wasn't glowing inside out and evenly anymore, hello hot spots. The coil bought the farm after a little adjusting and pulsing and didn't have much success setting up another one lol. Its much more difficult for me to set up tight, even micros like this vs. a horizontal coil, less room to pulse and squeeze. I'm getting coil deformation from the take off of the legs, I need to figure out how to do this in a way that isn't so labor intensive, because going back to horizontals isn't an option

Torch and squeeze rather than pulse and squeeze. I make the coils with the legs prebent, then torch. Very high success rate.
