I canceled that order from amazon and went with BJ's recommendation on lovepetal... Should be here soon so we will see. I love cotton on my RDAs because cotton is so thirsty, but I really want to love hemp. More to come on results shortly..Clark

Keep us posted. I like cotton also but I find myself replacing the wick/coil and it doesnt keep up with my chain vaping. I vape non stop for about 5 minutes at a time. Sometimes more. Ive been cutting back on how often I vape but the sessions are not as frequent but just as long. I enjoy the flavor too much to call it quits.

Just trying my first Hemp wick in my Protank and Evods. Washed and boiled hemp as per BJ, and left to dry. It came out nice and soft and enlarged from original size.
Using 32g kanthal 5 wraps giving 2.8 ohms. Have opened up the channels for the wick slightly, to help with choking off the flow of juice. From dropping a little juice onto the hemp before installing the head, it does appear to wick like crazy. Very encouraging.
Still experimenting with different number of threads through the coil. Tried 4 which went through, but was very tight, and choked up straight away. 3 seemed ok, but when juiced, I had to pull some threads out to loosen it in the coil as it was very tight, and I was getting hemp flavour. Now trying 2 threads, which seemed very loose in the coil, but as this hemp seems to expand so much, may be ok after a nights soaking. I think maybe 2.1/2 threads may be the optimum for my setup, but time will tell.

That's exactly my experience as well. I tried four wicks setup with bigger coil diameter but I've been getting shorts, so I came back to smaller diameter 32g kanthal with three minus few strands wicks and it's always been the best working setup for me. This Vapeonly tank/head surely needs some maintenance at least every few days where as with EVOD heads I can just set it up and forget about it for couple weeks. I might just move onto Protank which seems to be as good as EVOD, despite the smaller capacity than Vapeonly.

I saw the new vivi nova bottom coil. It uses kanger heads. I was going to pick one up but they didn't have clear. Just pink and green. I only saw it at this shop where I get my pool cues re tip

thats weird. Almost every build I do with the protanks i get a consistent vape. Its the vapeonly BCC that I have trouble getting good right now. If its the 1mm hemp I have to use at least 3 for the protank. If I don't break up the strands in the hemp I use an oval coil. If i use a tradition coil I break up the strands down to 4-5S and use for wicks like that with 1 7S feeder wick over the coil.

I am amazed that you are able to get an oval coil in your Protank, as it is such a tiny space. I will think about that, but eyesight and shaky hands may prevent it. Old age is a terrible thing...........

If you would like I can post picture by picture of my needle size that I use for the oval coil and how I get it in the head straight and centered. Once you get the coil size down you just play around with the numbers of wicks and how many strands in each wick.

Just make the oval smaller, I use two 1mm drill bits taped together for my smaller ovals an two 2mm drill bits for the larger.

So Chet sent me a sample of the what looks like the 1mm, big thanks Chet!...

I gave it the Palmolive massage (I didn't get any oogies out of it, maybe Chet already prep'd it) then I gave it a 2 hr boil (only because the pot was on the cottage wood stove, I was working out in the yard and completely forgot about it), dried it overnight and set up 3 of my bf/ERA's (one on my VZ super concentrate peach flavour which doesn't play well with any organic wick)...first of all, by the very nature of bf's, I don't really care how well it wicks, it wicks whether it likes it or not...but the flavour!...it's cleaner than the bamboo, not by a buttload mind you, but it is cleaner...the peach is actually passable on the hemp (not as bright as silica but but better than the bamboo earthy taste)...I'd say just on flavour rendition alone this hemp is a winner...as far as the trial by fire...the bamboo and hemp (in my opinion) are about tied in heat resistance, however, the hemp seems to just fade in flavour whereas the bamboo starts tasting like toast. I'd say unless you decide to go thermonuclear "dryburn" (why?) the hemp is better than silica, which has a habit of tasting meh on one pull then tasting like you lit the wrong end of an analogue the next

Never got around to making a bf, so I finally broke down and ordered a Revolution. Looking forward to a new experience. Should have it in a few days. Now to drill a side air hole in the A7s....

Reminder to self: don't forget you hemp on the stove. I fried 1/3 of what I bought 42 minutes after I received it.

That debacle aside, I slow boiled a batch of 2mm from lovepetal twice for 20 minutes. The first batch of water definitely had a yellow tint and lots of particulates, the second boil looked pretty clear after 20 so I called it good. Dried overnight. Results:

Loaded a squid up and it hits like a champ. The first 5-10 minutes it tasted a little off (DIY French Vanilla), but it faded fast. I kinda miss the hemp flavor, actually?

I purposely frayed the ends a bit... 3/4 wrap of 32 guage kanthal, 1.35ohms, vapeing @ the lowest setting on a fresh 1300mah Spinner. Nice vapor, good flavor, wick hold 65/35 juice well.

Also WOW! That is a small wick on the squid. I have an ERA clone, similar to the squid. How long, how many puffs/drags, does a saturated wick like that lasts?
What gauge is your wire and what ohm did it came in as?

The stats are in the post above. I haven't tested "puffs" yet but I generally use my drippers at home, not on the go... I just gave it a run... with a saturated wick, and 5 drips, I got 22 long drags before I started to get the hallmark taste of a dry hemp burn. After rehydrating the wick, it returned to form after 2 puffs. Not too bad IMHO. As far as my RDAs go, I am *done* using silica. Even after an afternoon of casually vaping I can tell that the back of my throat doesn't seem as abused as it was with silica. Silica kinda gives me a sore throat after a while, especially if I take a nasty dry hit. It just seems like you get more warning with hemp... especially helpful if you are a dripper. It also seems to hold more juice. Aside from the funky taste at the beginning (which I like, at least with French Vanilla - and, it's really subjective, YMMV) - I am really struggling to find a "con" to using hemp in my RDAs.

The tanks may be a whole different story, however. I have a Vivi Nova Mini (1.6ml) that I absolutely HATE, so I may try rewicking that. The only thing that damn Vivi Nova seems to be good for is the skirt (I use it for my Squid), see above - and the free drip tip (pictured above).

Eventually I may try rewicking a Kanger T3 or a ProTank, but I have those hitting so well I hate to mess it up... don't fix it if it's not broken.

I just boiled another batch of hemp... this time I added menthol crystals to the water. My ADV is a DIY Ry4 with menthol. Call it an experiment.

A Revolution?...oh oh...just promise you don't let that thing taint your bf experience BJ , I've never owned one but I've seen the reviews...the quality is what you'd expect to simply test a concept but it seems like the inverted feed is a major pain in the bum...if you find you like the bf's, you've got the skills to build twice the mod (easier than drilling the A7 ) or pick up a beater Grand off the classy's...I'm no Reonaut by any stretch but if you're into bf's you want to be holding that as the 4th horseman rides into town...

Well that's how much I know about bf, didn't even realize there was more than one way to feed from the bottom. I just wanted something to try. Hell I once called a bf a bottom dripper. Anyway as you say if I like it, I will make something better. Have a couple DNA 20s I need to use on something.
