Yikes, that's how I've been making them. Maybe I'll try the 5mm extra on the top to see if the extra juice helps with wicking. As of right now I get about 1.5 hits when using it normally, then it is insanely dry and I have to invert it.

Normally I would try to work out one thing at a time, but not there is juice everywhere. It is coming out of the air hole in the top cap and maybe at the top part of the tank... Driving me nuts :D

Will the larger air hole help with feeding the wick?

Any thoughts about the juice leaking?

The stuff coming out of the hole in the cap and dripping everywhere is condensation. It is normal for many Genisis type mods.

Once you have it wicking right, you may want to cut one coil of kanthal off the top. Higher temps produce less condensation and more vapor, but the wick must be going right before you should try upping the heat.

I have some pure vg juice going in my zen standard right now with 400 mesh and it's wicking great at 4:00-5:00 right now. I actually use it in a video I just made! I figured that this would be an equally good if not better place to post it since the zenfidels are prone to thrashing anyone who mods their Zen...

Why's that? I started the last two coils I wrapped at 3/4 and 4/5 wraps of 30g (.9 and 1.2ish Ω) and if anything, they broke in faster because of it. But I guess your coil is much more prone to popping if you have any hotspots from the get go.

That looks great! I saw it on the other thread .... it seems they are prone to bashing anyone lately .... :(

Awesome. Thanks for the video. It gives me a reference point on how to naturally vape a Genesis-style atty. I have to say, just this afternoon I've come a long way with this thing. I'm not getting dry hits anymore as I seem to have a pretty smooth rhythm going with the tilt. My vapor is dropping off big time though, I think I have too much juice in my cap perhaps.

I still have to bore the air hole out though, will there be a huge difference in vapor?

I will probably shoot a quick vido to make sure I'm on the right track. I also think I'll switch to 32 AWG as I'm using 34 NiChrome right now. Have 30,32,33 and 34 Kanthal en route as well as 325 Mesh.

I'm quickly becoming a convert. I am vaping what I would consider mid-low tier juice just to get the hang of things and it tastes amazing to me now.

Boring out the airhole to 1/16" will probably double or triple your vapor production per drag, no joke. When you get all your new wire, I suggest starting out with either 3 or 4 wraps of the 32g and going up or down from there. I vaped 3 wraps of 32g for a few months and then decided it wasn't enough for me, so I dropped to 5/4 wraps of 30g, and then finally all the way down to 3/4 wraps. Definitely post a vid, that'll make troubleshooting muchhh easier on our end! With that 34g nichrome, I'd suggest 2/3 wraps for now, or even better, take two strands of it, twist them together much like you'd twist the r and nr wire for ody, into a strand that's around 5-7cm long and try 5 wraps of that. I'll post pics of a likewise coil, just give me a sec to dig up the links.

Thanks dude. Great advice. I'd love to see how that coil comes together, sounds awesome. I just love how easy these are to make, and the fact that the more your wick gets used the better it performs. As for the hole, now I'm beyond excited. I'm going to grab a proper bit tomorrow and just get it done

I've done several airhole modifications with a SS bit without any issues, so you shouldn't need an expensive cobalt or Ti bit, but the end result might turn out a little bit cleaner with one of those. To actually drill it, first off, make sure to clamp down your top cap in a vice or even some locking pliers so the drill doesn't slip and go through your hand. When you're actually drilling it, apply firm, steady downward pressure on the drill and make sure to start it slow, because if you go too quickly, you run the risk of snapping the bit. Once you get it going and you're already about 1mm deep, you can go at it full throttle. Once your through, use a dremel to clean up the inside and outside of the hole, add a bevel if you so wish, and then thoroughly rinse it all out with hot water so you don't accidentally inhale any steel shavings!

Dude...Dude...DUDE, seriously. This double-twist method should be illegal. I cannot describe how much vapor is coming off of this thing, thought I'm sure you know. I ended up pinching the wick a couple times because of this stupid cast, but once I nail it, I think this is the ticket.

I've been contemplating using 30awg kanthal. The 32 is nice, but it doesn't give me satisfaction anymore at 2/3 wraps. This is on both my Katana and NGP. :\

Score! I think a video or at LEAST some pics are in order! And you think that is good, just wait until you get your hands on that 30g kanthal a-1! You'll be blowing clouds that put some ody coils to shame!

Where did you get the 30awg?
I'm ruining dangerously low on 32. And can't find it or 30 anywhere.

That would be what I would expect to see from you because you know what to look for and have developed the feel for getting it right every time. Someone without these developed skills would run a coil at that low ohm rating and if there was a short they would pop it immediately. Gotta walk before you can run :D
