That would be what I would expect to see from you because you know what to look for and have developed the feel for getting it right every time. Someone without these developed skills would run a coil at that low ohm rating and if there was a short they would pop it immediately. Gotta walk before you can run :D
Agree with this; I can't even wrap a coil for my Line v2... but Katana/NGP/GTank/etc are all easy peasy.

Anybody have a toupee I can borrow? I am pulling out my hair with this one. Over 20 wicks and at least 60 coils and I can't get any balance with hotspots/feeding. Unless it is completely inverted, within 2-4 seconds the coils glow and I get the nastiest hits ever.

I think something is wrong with my Katana, I follow videos perfectly and really take the time to get everything perfect, but no dice. I usually end up crimping the wick and starting all over again.

have you tried straightening a paperclip and putting it in the wick during the coil wrap part? I find that helps a ton.

Ahh, I read aboot the paper clip trick but forgot to try it. I usually re-arrange my coils with a still sewing needle. The glows are uaually near the posts at the top or bottom, but everything seems to be looking good in terms of touching and distance. I will try to snap some pics to see if that helps as well.

the paperclip helps in not kinking the wick and allowing you to get the coil wrapped properly. You should give it a shot.

Pain - some folks turn under the free edge of the mesh when they are rolling the wick to avoid those frazzles. I have not tried it yet, but it sounds like it would help. :)

Yeah I've been doing this for the last dozen or so coils and it certainly helps with rhe general shorts. Tomorrow, well later today I guess, I'm going to finish testing and hopefully unveil my first "Mod" to a Mod. I think I might have nailed any potential feeding issues on (some) Genesis-style atomizers. A bit more testing is needed right now though.

as far as I know you can run your tank dry then run some cold water or somehow pour some cold water and basically dry burn off the shtuff till it gets ashy and flakes off then rinse a bit a gain and you should be good.? from what I have been told.. i rocked the same wick for over 5 weeks then had to change it out and never actually tried that process. I just threw it away. However with the current setup I have i will most likely just wrap a new coil after a good dry burn and try that.

Yeah I've dry burned it a couple times. Just seems to gunk up a lot faster now.

Assuming the wick is still structurally sound and that you can easily remove it without wrecking the coil, you can take it out and go over it with the torch. This will get out what the dry burn cannot and will leave you with a completely like new wick. I have had a wick keep going over a year by cleaning.

When it starts to break apart you know it's time to change it out :)
