It should be easy enough to make an adapter, but those one-off pieces tend to be spendy at the machine shop :) Dspin will be one happy boy at that though, lol.

Well if I get one made, I'll probably just ask him to make me a few of em because you pay by the hour there, in which case I'll try to hook a few buddies up with em.

:( i went thru 4 coils and keep getting hot spots. Coil 5 here i go. What gauge wire are you guys using?

You don't have to change the coils unless you have popped them. The best way is to adjust the coil on the wick while it is all together to remove the hot spots. Check your PM :)

I had a few hot sppots but I just dropped fresh drops onto the hot coil to help break it in.
then tweaked the coils and dry burned to make sure they were getting even flow. nowto vape
tough to finish the break in period. if I dont adjust the air hole will that reduce my
vapor production?

That depends on the version you have, V1 should be OK the way it is unless you want to loosen the draw a little. The V2 and V3 need to have the air hole directed to the front of the coil. In their original configuration the inlet is behind the electrodes and can cause decreased vapor production and increased TH.

How does one adjust the hole?

I know you mentioned a o-ring before. Is this the solution you are talking about?

Yes, there is another way but it requires the removal of the top of the tank. No worries for you though. I already adjusted the hole on yours to the optimal position so you will not have do any position adjustments anymore. You can increase the hole size a little bit with a drill bit one or 2 sizes bigger than the original hole if you want more vapor and a more airy draw (decreases TH a little bit though).

I thought it was on the right side.

Many thanks again!

I highly suggest doing so. Drastically improves vapor production.

here it is.

zenesis coil basics - YouTube

a couple off other things.

1) is the mesh touching the bottom of the tank? If so, pull it up a bit.
2) cut the mesh so that it is more even with the top of the screw. It might be a little long, or you might be shorting it by having the top touch the inside of the cap.
3) They should glow more evenly, but they will not always do that (especially the bottom) so do not go nuts if this one does not.
4) make sure the mesh is not touching the screw on the outside either.

5) re-adjust after you do the above and check in with us. :)

It looks like you have a short there. You will see the point on the coil where it changes from glowing to dark. That is the spot you need to move. Once you move that you will see more of the coil turn red. If there is another point where the coil stops glowing, adjust that spot too till the entire coil is glowing from post to post.

Once the shorts are gone it will vape much better and the metallic taste will go away.

It also looks like (in the picture) that the wick is touching the bottom of the tank. You do not want that. Just turn the will a little and pull up slightly. You should not disturb the coils too bady by doing this. You may have to re-check for shorts once you do that though.

I would not cut the wick down though. I leave mine long like that :) there is plenty of room in the katana top cap for this and it helps to keep juice in reserve while you are vaping.

Word, definitely shorting against the bottom of the tank as well as somehwere in the bottom 3 or 4 wraps. I can't see the grounded post, but I'm gna guess that the wick is touching the screw head, or that the coil is loose somewhere and isn't making proper contact with the wick. If you continue to have problems, please post more pics so we can best diagnose the problem.

Did everyone forget about their Katanas? As a quick update, I bored out my airflow hole to a full 5/64", and though the draw is extremely airy, I'm blowing clouds that rival those of my Odysseus.

I know, right, this thread died right off lately.

I'm guessing most people are vaped into comas or pulling their hair out in frustration trying to figure out their first .
