guys, those channels puff up with juice when you draw, kind of like the squonking of a reo, if there is no wick right there to suck up this swelling up of juice by the little outlets then the juice will just be sucked back into the tank when you stop your draw and you will get NO feed, if wick is there, and juice is sucked up, then when you stop drawing it can't suck the same juice back in so it sucks air back in, if you're not getting a rising air bubble on just about every draw then you are not wicked properly, don't keep the wick away from the hole, keep it right there to suck up any swell up of juice from it. if you put way too much, THAN you could seal off these orifices well enough that the tank won't even see the suction, so don't over stuff it, but def wick right at the feed holes. after getting my full sized kayfun I now realize how much more room you have, the mini is easy t use too much wick and seal up the tank but the full sized kayfun and the light have huge wells, don't be afraid to get some wick right in there, it's the only way it'll feed, otherwise the same juice just goes in and out, in and out, and never feeds the coil

I feel kinda stupid for all these weeks trying my best to keep the wicks away from the inlets but somewhere I read something about it and got it into my head that was what I had to do, that everyone was doing it (and obviously doing it better than me). The difference is night and day! I couldn't figure out what I was/wasn't doing. I knew it had to be something simple.. and it was LOL

I'm in a 91% pre-order as well. I gave up waiting when I got lucky and saw that intaste.de had it avail. Got it about two weeks ago, slapped a 1.4ohm microcoil and cotton wick in it, took a puff or two and left for an overnight fishing trip. Boy was I happy!

I ran about 10 tanks through before I got the feeling I needed to change the wick. Put a new wick in and am still going on that set up.

I did get the tiny dribble from the fill hole and used the o-ring from micro-screw driver as suggested earlier in this thread. That stopped all leaks. Or so I thought. Now I DO change altitude here - I live on top of the hill in my neighborhood - 36' above sea level. I am certain that's not the cause. But I've had it long enough now to be sure that going from A/C to 80+ degrees does start some leakage through the air hole. Not a lot, and it clears up once it's acclimatised and I've had a few vapes, but it is annoying to some extent. Mostly because the air hole sits directly above the button on my ProVari.

Still using gennies while really enjoying this KFL! And still looking forward to the 91% if . . .

Oh not that, picked up the 'full version' - the Kayfun 3.1ES clone. Got my tracking# at noon. Expected delivery day after

Fetched it for three reasons:
1. To compare it with the Kayfun and see what the hullabaloo is all about
2. Was cheap -- $110 shipped ;)
3. Was sitting [in stock] inside Canada.

I think you will be plesently surprised with The Russian. I don't have a kayfun to compare it to, but I can't find anything wrong with it.

I've been having the same issues as Donnah, having to intentionally flood or else dry hits. I've been doing microcoils on my Reo's for months without any problems, so I have been really frustrated. I was also up hung my wicks away from the channels, trying not to block them off, so I really hope that lining them up and trimming at the ledge helps the KFL work better. If not I'll probably put it in the classies, I have such an easy time with my Reo's and I am really frustrated with this, gettin to the point where I am sick of fiddling and it never works for long. I wish I was getting the results most of you are.

The Kayfun acts like a bottom coil. The juice feeds from the bottom. This is unlike a Genny where the juice has to wick up the height of the device. No tilting required with a Kayfun and just one more reason why it blows Genesis out of the water.

you misreading my post. I know there is no need for a tilt in the kayfun. my post merely posses a question of, if someone were to tilt the kayfun because they are so used to vaping a genesis device, does this over tilting of the kayfun have adverse reactions to the tilt? like possible dry hits. as for the kayfun blowing out a genesis device? I think it depends on the build of said genny. I bet I could set up a genny for you and with you blind folded take a vape off both, you may be surprised.

I vape mine vertical, tilted, upside down (laying on the couch/bed)...

just a thought, because tbh, with this certain drip tip I use for the most part I vape the lite pretty much vertical. glad to know that this might not be a reason for potential dry hits some are getting. I just sit back and try to figure out why some do, this is just something that crossed my mind. thanks for the plus on it makes no difference.

Anyone see anything wrong with this build? Other than my dirty thumbnail??

I wet the tails with liquid, and laid them down on the deck right over the channels, so far this seems to he working better than when I tried to put the wicks a way from the channels.

But, my other builds worked good for a bit then dry hits all the time. I'll know tomorrow if this actually wicks correctly.

Then cotton looks kinda dense in the pics but its really not at all. It was almost falling apart when pulling it thru the coil, really fluffy....

You know..

I'm tasting cotton on this build. Driving me crazy. I'm getting a lot of "sizzling" too, and on some of my better performing builds I don't get all the noise from firing. The only thing I didn't like about this build is that I couldn't mount my coil diagonally, from top left to bottom right, because of where the legs ended up. That shouldn't matter though. Also, it's 28g, 8-9, @ 1.8, 1/16"

Here's a shot of the cotton I use..

What do I need to look at here?

if I were to guess I would have to say that the wick tail end is not full enough where it meets the deck. it just doesn't look dense enough. as for the cotton, I only use sterile.

"Appears" to be a little too much cotton, but this could be the picture. However, you will know if it is too much. The amount of cotton is the only variable in the micro-cotton build that requires some trial and error. IMO.

I've been doing cotton on drippers with no issue at all....just this damn KFL giving me issues. That was way less cotton than I use in my drippers.

I may look like a lot of cotton because it is fluffy, but the ends are definitely not dense enough. when I roll up a wick I roll it up a little tighter then the one in the pick and its consistant all the way down to the end. drippers and the reo is a little different and in those I don't use a lot of cotton, but in the kayfun I use a nice slightly dense piece that barely makes it through the coil.

it seems like its still working, im glad. in the first post you made after you reading my late nighter you said you made one right on the channel but you didn't make it fluffy where it touched. don't be afraid to make it a little fluffy, even their, it will still work.
