I have some 28ga on its way. Ordered it from Lightning Vapes - All the RBA Materials you need! Silica Wick, Ekowool, Kanthal Wire, Stainless Steel Mesh and more! Going from 30 ga to 28 ga should bring me from 1.8 ohms to about 1.2 ohms all other things equal.
I actually like 28ga at around 1.6-1.8Ω for a KFL or clone. Lately, I've been playing with a macro coil... 7 (tight) wraps of 28 around a almost 3mm shaft. Doesn't get too hot even with long hits, good - not great vapor... but, the most important thing to me, as I'm not playing in a "cloud contest"... a very good, clean taste.
Not saying it's your cup of tea and I certainly don't suggest it's the best and brightest... but there are more ways to skin a cat than with just one kind of coil. ;-)

1/16" drill bit same size as that 16g bunt needle...its the norm for micro coils, altho others work well also...

26g with 10 wraps will give u about .8Ω, each wrap xtra will give about + .1Ω
28g with 10 wraps will give u about 1.0Ω, each wrap xtra will give an xtra + 0.1Ω

These are approximates - the length of your 'legs' will give or take a few tenths (0.1Ω)

Don't go too many wraps 12-13 max, if you need higher Ω, go to a higher gauge wire and start again...
Stay within 7-12 wraps, 8-10 wraps being optimum for the Ω you'd like.

Its all about experimenting, and finding what vape YOU like best.
I have found, like vapdivrr, 26g kanthal gives more flavor.
Everything depends on your liquid, and the style you like to vape (warm,cool,TH,vapor)...
Experiement...let everyone know your outcomes....Goodluck!

I have both 26 and 28 gauge wire.... If I don't have a 16 gauge needle what size drill bit could I use to do a micro coil and how many wraps should I use per said sizes?

It's not 'how many wraps' you do, or 'on what you do'... the important thing is the 'length' of your wire - this is what determines your end resistance - the Ωs you are targeting. Use any Resistance Wire Calculator to find that out, something like >this< and then wrap that length of wire on any suitable* drill-bit, needle, toothpick, metal nail, whatever:

*By 'suitable' I mean a size which could comfortably 'sit' on the deck of the Atty.

Calling all micro coil experts.

I am going to try to build a micro coil, but only have 32 Gauge wire at the moment and a 1.5 mm´ish drill bit. I would like to shoot for a 1.8 – 2.0 ohm coil because I will be running it on my Provari.

Does anyone have an idea on the number of wraps I need to get 1.8 – 2.0 ohms????

Thanks guys!

If u get a chance take a look at a couple of vapedivr's Vids. I really learned a lot about these Micro coils from his vids. I was having a lot of wicking issues & such at first and becoming frustrated. I realized I was using too large of a diameter coil. I was using a 3ml with 28 Awg kanthal at first. After a lot of tial & error, u I am now using 26 Awg kanthal & a 1/16th drill bit. Also ur cotton needs to be just thick enough that u can pull it through the coil with some resistance, but not so much that it threatens to ruin the coil.

Hope you get it going well, b/c a proper set coil & cotton wick on a kfl is my favorite Vape by Far.

Agree SOF. I will be experimenting with different setups. In my experience, I kind of side with Diver in that area of coil surface is key.

Because for the LOLs:

With the 1.1ohm coil it sputters but it does fire. Don't worry I know its bad for this little Ego just did it for a minute because I was bored.

But running this with a K Nano conversion and a 1.6ohm coil sounds like a decent proposition down the road to upgrade my dessert vapes away from the EVODs.

Dropped my provari and now my kfl is crooked and the plastic is cross threaded with the metal ring :(

Any ideas how to get it without taking pliers to it and running the plastic?

-Lord

that's so weird, yesterday my k-lite and mod dropped from about 3 ft onto the floor. it also was slightly tweeked and I seen a gap between the tank and tube(where the plastic meets the metal) I tightened it slightly which reduced this gap. I said to myself it must of loosened as it hit. when I took it apart it was cross threaded slightly. I unthreaded and re threaded back and now it seems to be perfect again, no issues except a slight scratch on the atty.

Yeah not all Egos are created equal. I can confirm these are unregulated because my TankO'Meter works on them, I've been chain vaping one for almost two hours and its down to 3.8v right now.

I really like the EVODs to be honest. Best vape I've had from a cheap BCC clearomizer. I've tried a few I've owned and from other friends, including Vivi Novas, Vapeonly BCC Megas and Minis, CE4's from another friend and these spank all of them hands down. The air draw is almost as airy as the KFL with the 3 little air holes lining the top of the base, they lie above the ego threading on the battery, they work very well.

thanks, appreciate the info.

usually in time the sputtering goes away. sometimes for some reason I get this sound at first but after a tank or less it stops.

It's exactly why I hate plastic threads. Knock on wood, I haven't dropped my Kayfuns yet; but I've had it happen back when I used to use Vivi Nova Minis. The Kayfuns have threads on each end of the clear tank. The Taifun GT has threads on one end. The other end is press fit into a stainless ring, which the top cap threads into. Why they didn't do the same on the other end? I have no idea. The only one I have that isn't threaded is the Squape. The tank is held into the top section with o rings.

i thought for sure the tank was ruined after it fell. being that i was able to slightly tighten it when it happened i thought it broke at the threads. surprisingly it was fine. the sqounks design sounds pretty good, do you like it better overall?

With the right adhesive (research anyone?) you could bond a tank to the metal rings... forever after. But, then what, when the tank starts to get ugly - Toss the whole enchilada and start over?

WOW I've been gone for 3 1/2 weeks and just caught up after 150 pages

I dropped my KFL a month ago and didn't notice the thread jump. I refilled twice and it was leaking out of the DT and looking down the top cap it looked like the chimney was bent form the drop. I finally noticed the threads had jumped. A while ago I bought a squeegee replacement blade, it works great for unscrewing tight or suck threads, and unscrewed the tank and had no cross thread issues.

I don't know if anybody is having the hot juice spitting issues still. We used to have that issue a lot with the HH 357 and Bert at Trippy Tips invented the donut tip to stop the spitting. I don't have that issue with my KFL's but I still like my donuts :D

welcome back my friend. i know what its like to catch up on threads, when i was following the micro coil thread before this one it was crazy, if you missed a week you had like 60 pages to read, that's a whomping thread over there for sure. nice DT, you don't want to drop that one.
